Korean Journal of Urology 1982;23(8):1165-1169
Effect of Cefadroxil monohydrate was evaluated on 37 patients with urinary tract infection in our department during past 6 months periods. Cefadroxil was given Orally at a dose of 1.0 gm - 3.0 gm bid per day for 3 - 15 days and following results were obtained. 1. Excellent or good results was observed in 31 out of 34 patients in whom complete follow up study were done, giving success rate of 91.2%. 2. Therapeutic effects were obtained in 10 out of 11 patients with urethritis and all patients with cystitis and pyelonephritis, but not in 1 with urethritis, 1 with prostatitis and 1 out of 9 urinary tract infections with predisposing factors. 3. In this clinical settings, Cefadroxil was effective against E. coli infection in 10 patients, mixed infection in 2 and Staphylococcus aureus infection in 5. However it was ineffective against Serratia infection in 1 patient and Staphylococcus infection in 1. 4. As to the side effects, only mild dizziness was observed in 2 patient.

2.Total Hip Replacement Arthroplasty for the Old Dislocated Hip
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1978;13(3):409-417
After the success of total hip replacement arthroplasty by John Charnley in 1962, it was well known fact that total hip replacement arthroplasty can be applied to degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, even on the fused hip. However the old dislocated hip gives arise a few problem for its total hip replacement with the follwing causes:, 1. floor of the falad acetabulum is very thin and inadequate to receive a socket. 2. distorted anatomy of the acetabulum and proximal femur. 3. short and atrophic abductor mechanism. Total hip replacement arthroplasty could be successful for the old dislocated hip, if the adequate size of cup ard prosthesis are available and there is adequate length of the hip abductor. Preoperatively we can measure the size of the acetabulum and the distorted femur with roentgenogram. But it is not known how to measure or predict whether or not there is enough length of the abductor muscle mechanism preoperatively. Therefore the question arises how to measure or predict the length of the hip abductor in the old dislocated hip. Although this is a preliminary report, it is our feeling that the more the range of motion the hip has, the better the length of the hip abductor muscle. In our series acetabular socket can be positioned at the original site and the osteomized greater trochanter reduced to the femur easily in the cases more than 190 of total range of motion of the affected hips, The range of motion of the affected hip can be measured preoperatively.

Journal of the Korean Society of Pediatric Nephrology 1997;1(2):130-135
Carcinsarcoma is an uncommon pulmonary malignancy characterized by carcinmatous parenchyma and sarcomatous stroma. The cytologic, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features of a case of pulmonary carcinosarcoma suspected by fine needle aspiration cytology is presented. Only bizarre spindle cells arranged in loose groups, in microtissue fragments and in a dissociate fashion were present in the aspiration smears. They were markedly positive for vimentin. The epithelial component was not found, which was probably due to marked paucity of carcinomatous component that was proved by histologic examination of the resected tumor. The diagnosis of pulmonary carcinosarcoma should be conidered whenever poorly differentiated epithelial cell groups with a malignant mesenchymal component set in a myxoid background are seen in a pulmonary cytology specimen.

6.Percutaneous Release of the Trigger Finger using Newly Designed Scalpel.
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1997;32(3):704-710
Percutaneous method of Al pulley release for the trigger fingers using hypodermic needle or small sharp scalpel has been described by some authors. In our experience, however, these methods had some difficulties in handling the instruments and not easy to utilize proper technique. Therefore we designed a special scalpel for easy and safe percutaneous release of the Al pulley. The scalpel has a hook shaped end with a blade on the inner side. Insertion site through the skin should be 0.5cm distal to the Al pulley, and the hooked end is located at the proximal margin of the Al pulley followed by longitudinal cut of the pulley distally. We performed this procedure in 44 trigger fingers of 41 patients in our out-patient clinic. There were 9 males and 32 females with a mean age of 54.4 years (range, 24 to 83 years). Affected digits were 23 thumbs, 1 index, 13 middle, 5 ring and 2 little fingers. 9 of them were locked in flexion or extension. The duration of symptom was an average of 7.9 months. After a mean follow up of 11.3 months, 42 fingers (95.4%) were completely free of symptoms including triggering. One had mild residual triggering due to incomplete release of the pulley and another had re-release of the pulley for remaining flexion limitation. One finger showed mild bowstringing after release, which subsided in 3 months. One patient complained of persistent pain and tenderness over the release site. There were no injuries of nerves or vessels and no infections. The duration of discomfort after release ranged from 3 to 70 days (av. 18.5 days). All patients, except one, were satisfied with the treatment method and their results. We think that percutaneous release of trigger fingers using our special scalpel is a very effective and convenient procedure both to surgeons and patients. It can be easily and safely performed in out-patient clinic with successful results.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1999;33(7):483-489
Lung cancer is one of the most common types of malignancy in western nations with serious health problem, and it has become the leading cause of cancer death of males, second only to stomach cancer, in Korea. A review of the histopathology of 1363 cases (1231 patients) of lung carcinoma, diagnosed at the Keimyung University Medical center from 1987 to 1996, was performed to reclassify the type of carcinomas and to investigate the change in the distribution of histologic types of lung carcinoma according to age, sex and year. Among the 1363 cases, 132 patients underwent a surgical operation after biopsy. The diagnosis of each case was proven by histopathologic analysis of surgical specimens (13.2%) and biopsy materials (86.8%). The histologic types in our study were basically based on modified WHO classification (1982) and on new WHO classification (1999). The classification of small cell carcinoma was based on International Association for the Small Cell Lung Cancer (IASLC, 1988). Of the 1231 patients with lung carcinoma, 1012 were male and 219 were female (male to female ratio was 3.6:1). According to the analysis of age distribution, the most prevalent age group was 60~69 years in both sex as (n=516, 42.0%). Changing trends in sex distribution of lung carcinoma patients showed that the proportion of men had decreased throughout the years, whereas the proportion of women had significantly increased. Histologically, squamous cell carcinoma was the most common (n=624, 50.7%), followed by small cell carcinoma (21.1%), adenocarcinoma (18.1%), large cell undifferentiated carcinoma (2.1%), adenosquamous carcinoma (0.4%), and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (0.4%), in order of frequency. In men, squamous cell carcinoma was the most frequent type (55.1%). In women, adenocarcinoma was the most frequent type (39.7%). In both sexes, adenocarcinoma was the most common type in patients under the age of 40 (n=12, 41.4%), while squamous cell carcinoma proved the most frequent type in patients over the age of 40 (n=617, 51.3%). Changing trends of histologic types of lung cancer showed that the incidences of squamous cell carcinoma had significantly decreased throughout the years, whereas those of adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma had increased. In conclusion, the results showing increases in the percentage of female patients and in the number of cases of adenocarcinoma were noteworthy, and well correlated with other related reports.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2006;17(1):112-124
PURPOSE: This study was carried out to investigate the relationships among suicidal risk, self-esteem, and spiritual well-being of high school students, and to provide basic data for developing suicide prevention programs. METHOD: The subjects of this study were 1.176 high school students from six academic high schools and two technical high schools in Daegu City. Data were collected from the 13th to the 25th of September 2004. The research tools were the Suicide Probability Scale developed by Go. Kim and Lee (2000), the Self-Esteem Inventory modified by Choi and Jeon (1993), and the tool of Spiritual Well-Being modified by Yoo (2002). Data were analyzed with SPSS Windows 11.0. RESULT: Variables that showed statistically significant difference in suicidal risk were school type, whether to have the best friends, the number of close friends, current relationship with close friends, experience of school violation, respect for the teacher, grades, financial condition, parents marital status, father's education level, mother's education level, home atmosphere, conversation with father, conversation with mother, smoking, drinking, experience of counseling for problems, whether to have physical illnesses, experience of thinking about suicide, experience of attempting suicide. Suicidal risk was in a significantly negative correlation with self-esteem and spiritual well-being. CONCLUSION: The researcher identified many different variables that affect the suicidal risk of high school students. Self-esteem and spiritual well-being were found to be in a significant correlation with suicidal risk. Therefore, the results of this study can be used as basic data and information for suicidal prevention programs.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(4):539-542
A 51-year-old man had small, tender, skin colored firm nodule on the helix of the both ears for eight months. He was found to have classic features of chondrodermatitis nodularis chronica helicis, namely, tender nodule less than 1 cm in length with central crusting, localization to helix, age, men, and histologic findings. The histologic examination of the biopsy specimen showed the presence of thinned epiderrnis on center. acanthosis on the adjacent epidermis, with hyperkeratosis and parakeratosis, and cleft between epidermis and dermis. In the dermis, highly vascularized connective tissue and chronic inflarnmatory infiltrate were visible with perichondrial fibrosis. Elastic tissue stain showed degeneration of elastic fibers. After complete excision, no recurrence was obsered until now.
