BACKGROUND: Hydrofluoric acid(HF) is one of the strong stirritating, corrosive and poisonous inorganic acid, The HF burns are occuring with ever-increa firifrequency due to the wide use of this acid in industrial fields, such as electronics and semicor tor industries. OBJECTIVE: The purpie of this study is to quantiate theound depths produced by varying concentrations of HF aiud to suggest the treatment guideline. METHODS: Uarious cinicentrations of HF(5%, 25%, 50%),were applied to two pairs of test sites on a guinea pig's back in a uniform fashion with cotton-tip applicators and then the histopathologic changes of guinea pig skin were observed. RESULTS: 1, In the 5% HF applied group, intracellular edema vaobserved in the epidermis after 12 hours. After 3days, epidermal cell necrosis was observed. 2. In the 25% HF applied group, intraepidermal vesice was observed after 6hours. After 12hours, inflammatory cell infiltrations were observed in the apper dermis and then after 3days, dermal necrosis was oberved. 3. In the 50% HF applied group, epidermal cell necros After 6hours, liquefaction degeneration in the epidermis an was observed focally after 3hours. iflhmmatory cell infiltrations in the upper dermis were observed. After 2days, dermalar.ecrosis was observed and then after days, the reaction was at its peak and subcutaneous tissuc. necrosis was observed. CONCLUSION: This study showed that a higher concentrator HF exposure enhances The penetration of HF. For treatmi not alcohloic solution of a quarternary ammonium for avintralesional injection of calcium gluconate within 24 hours of HF and a longer period after we suggest wet dressing with an concentration of HF burn and high concentration of HF burn.

We present herein 3 cases of early secondary syphilis with simultaneous primary syphilitic lesions. These cases developed primary syphilitic lesions four to six weeks after sexual contact and lasted six to ten weeks thereafter until the secondary syphilitic lesions appeared. All three patients showed a strong positive for the STS. Spirochetes were seen under dark field examination of the primary syphilitic lesions, Histopathologically, numerous plasma cells around capillaries and endothelial hyperplasia were seen in the dermis.

We have examined the regenerative capabilities of the human scalp hair follicle after grafting the lower half of the follicle. Twenty-eight of 32 intact whole-hair follicles isolated from the human scalp regenerated hairs when grafted onto the forehead of the same person. Seven of the 15 lower-half follicles regenerated complete hair follicles 8 months after grafting showed that the lower-half follicle implant reconstituted the complete hair follicle. The sebaceous gland was not regenerated, but there was an outgrowth in the sebaceous gland regPark ion. Some grafts formed epithelial cysts. Two years after grafting, the histological examination of the regenerated follicle from the lower-half implant showed that the sebaceous gland was completely regenerated. While an intact follicle shows prominent naked shaft outgPark Park Parkrowth, the sheath grows concomitantly with the shaft in lower-half follicles in culture. If grafted lower-half follicles were located too deep, the regrown sheath could not reach the epidermal layer. In this situation, the formation of an epidermal cyst was likely.

BACKGROUND: Using c-fos expression one of the immediate early gene, as a marker of altered neuronal response, we investigated the effect of superior cervical ganglion block (SCGB) exhibiting the same effect of SGB of human on the activity of several brain regions which are considered as located on autonomic neural pathway and neuroendocrine axis in rat. METHOD: The 48 Sprague-Dawley strain rats were divided into 4 groups, as saline/stress (control) group, SCGB/stress (tested) group, saline group, SCGB group. Superior cervical ganglion block was conducted in the SCGB/stress group and SCGB group while saline/stress and saline group were sham operated. After then restraint stress was imposed on the animals of SCGB/stress group and saline/stress group. And 2 hour after injection (saline, SCGB group) or restraint stress (saline/stress, SCGB/stress group), c-fos protein (Fos) was localized by immunocytochemistry. RESULTS: Much stronger Fos immunoreactivity was induced in the several brain region of control group rats compared to other three groups and the numbers of Fos positive cell count of tested group were significantly decreased in paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus (p<0.01), A5 (p<0.01), raphe pallidus (p<0.05), nucleus tractus solitaius (p<0.01) compared to control group. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrate that superior cervical ganglion block attenuates stress induced neuronal activities of paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus, A5, raphe pallidus, nucleus tractus solitarius.

Hereditary angioedema is a rare genetic disease transmitted with a autosomal dominant trait result of a quantitative or functional defect of Cl inhibitor. We report three cases of heriditary angioedema from the same famly respectively the 35-year-old sister, the younger bn)ther of 32, and the younger sister of 20 The older sister died due to her airway being obstructel by acute laryngeal edema, and her you igirbrother and sister experienced recurrent episodes oswelling on the hand and forearm. The ore we examined the two patients serum complement levils to confirm diagnosis. In both, the r;ults showed decreased levels of Cl inhibitor and C4 which are the evidence of hereditary a giedema. The younger sister has been administered danazol (600mg/day) to prevent angioedem or 8 weeks, and we have not yet found a recurrenc of he symptoms. Transvaginal bladder neck suspension by Raz is an acceptable procedure for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence with high cure rate, operative simplicity, short hospitalization and little morbidity. Recently we experienced 8 cases of stress urinary incontinence treated with Raz's procedure and 2 cases with coexisting cystocele were treated with 4-corner operation. All cases have been assessed prior to and following operation and the results were satisfactory. Herein, we report 10 cases of stress urinary incontinence treated by Raz's procedure and 4-corner operation with review of literatures.
