2.Causes of Burn and Emergency Care on the Spot for the Patients Admitted to Three Hospitals in Taegu.
Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1988;21(2):238-244
This study was conducted to investigate the causes of burn and emergency cares taken on the spot for the burn patient. study population included 161 burn patients admitted to 2 university hospitals and 1 general hospital in Taegu from November 1, 1987 to April 30, 1988. Patients or guardians were interviewed with a structured questionnaire. Out of 161 burn patients 111(69.8%) were males and 50(31.1%) females. Preschool children of 1-4 years old accounted for 29.8% of the total patients. Burns of children under 15 years of age took place at home in 91.0%, while 48.3% of burns of adult (15 years and over) males occurred at the working place, and 68.0% of adult females occurred at the home. Out of total burns occurred at home 39.8% took place at kitchen/dining room and 24.1% in the room. The most common cause of burns in children was the boiling water or hot food (74.3%). In adults the common causes were electrical burn(22.4%), hot water or food(19.0%) and explosion(12.1%) for males, and hot water or food(32.0%) and explosion(20.0%) for females. Common emergency cares for the burn taken on the spot were undressing(64.6%), pouring Soju(liquor)(13.7%), and pouring cold water(5.0%). There were a few cases who applied ash, soy or salt. To prevent burn, it is recommended to remodel the traditional kitchen and coal-briquet hole, to strengthen the safety control of LP Gas and LN Gas supply, to educate the public for the handling method for such gases, to strengthen the occupational safety control, to improve the safety device for the electric wire and socket, and to limit the temperature of hot water at home and public baths.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1975;13(1):53-59
A Study on glutamic pyruvic and oxaloacetic transaminase of different organs(e.g intestine, seminal vesicle, reticular tissue, uterus, ovary, testes) in Ascaris lumbricoides suis have been investigated. The activity of transaminase were determined on the whole homogenates and subcellular fractions separated by differential centrifugation. The activity of glutamic pyruvic and oxaloacetic were assayed by colorimetric method of Reitman-Frankel. The results were obtained as follows: About ninty percent of the glutamic pyruvic and oxaloacetic transaminase in different organs was found to be localized in the supernatant fraction with the separation of differential centrifugation. And it was found that ten percent of glutamic pyruvic and oxaloacetic transaminase exists in the mitochondrial fraction. The specific activity of glutamic oxaloacetic transnaminase in different organs was relatively higher than the glutamic pyruvic transaminase activity.

China Pharmacist 2017;20(2):380-382
Objective:To establish a volt-ampere polarography method for the determination of thimerosal in chondroitin sulfate eye drops, and study the adsorption of thimerosal in different packing materials. Methods:The hanging mercury drop electrode ( HM-DE) in multi-functional electrode was used and the sample solution was added to potassium chloride-hydrochloric acid buffer solution. Nitrogen deoxygenation time was 200 s, the enrichment time was 60 s, and the equilibrium time was 5 s. The potentiometric scan was performed using a two standard addition method. Results:Thimerosal had a good linear relationship within the range of 0. 01-1. 0 mg· ml-1(r=0. 9990). The detection limit was 1. 78 μg·ml-1 and the average recovery was 99. 1% (RSD=2. 7%, n=9). Conclu-sion:The method is simple and accurate, and suitable for the determination of thimerosal in chondroitin sulfate eye drops. Low-density polyethylene and polypropylene both show obvious adsorption of thimerosal,so chondroitin sulfate eye drops should not be packed in the above packing materials.

Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at the Balance Area on ambulation and quality of life in patients with cerebral stroke.Method A hundred patients with cerebral stroke were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 50 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by electroacupuncture at the Balance Area plus rehabilitation, while the control group was by conventional acupuncture plus rehabilitation. The Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Holden ambulation grading score, and modified Barthel Index (BI) were adopted to evaluate the walk ability and quality of life.Result The BBS score, Holden grading score, and modified BI score respectively after 1 treatment course and 2 treatment courses were significantly different from that before intervention in both groups (P<0.01). After 1 treatment course, the BBS score, Holden grading score, and BI score of the treatment group were significantly different from that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture at the Balance Area can effectively enhance the balance function of cerebral stroke patients, and it can promote the ambulation ability and quality of life.
7.Methodology study of classification algorithm in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome study.
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2010;8(10):911-6
Study of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes is a key to the research of TCM modernization, and the core is the classification and diagnostic criteria of syndromes. The purpose of this article is to review the usage of classification algorithms of data mining in TCM syndrome researches, and comprehensively analyze the main features of algorithms and their applications. The appropriate classification algorithm should be chosen according to different research purposes. Rough sets and cluster analysis are suitable for exploratory research without requiring a prior knowledge. Fuzzy sets theory, neural networks and decision tree are suitable for syndrome diagnostic criteria research when the classification goal is clear, because they require a prior knowledge. Among them, fuzzy sets theory could be used in combination with other classification algorithms. Thus, some new methods such as fuzzy clustering, fuzzy rough sets or fuzzy decision tree might be more suitable for TCM algorithm classification research. It is suggested that some novel classification algorithms need to be developed to fit the condition of TCM syndrome, based on the interdisciplinary theories and technologies.

Objective To design an approach above the fibular head for treating posterolateral tibial plateau fracture, and to investigate its feasibility, advantages and disadvantages in clinical application. Methods Ten frozen adult cadaveric knees were dissected to observe the correlation of the important lateral structures and effect of knee flexion on tensity of the lateral collateral ligament. The distance (OA) from superior border of facies articularis capitis fibulae to lateral edge of articular surface of tibial plateau and the distance (OB) from the cross point of lateral collateral ligament and facies articularis capitis fibulae level to lateral edge of articular surface of tibial plateau were measured.According to the anatomic measurement results, the approach above the fibular head was designed. Then 12 patients with posterolateral tibial plateau fracture were treated through this approach, and the short-term clinical results were evaluated. Results The value of OA ranged from 9.43 to 14.92 mm (average,12.97±1.83 mm).At 0° of genuflex, the lateral collateral ligament was tense and the average value of OB was 4.87±0.33 mm.During the course of genuflex, the lateral collateral ligament got loose following which the value of OB became larger. At 60° of genuflex, the lateral collateral ligament was most loose, and the posterolateral tibial plateau could be exposed completely by drawing posterolaterally lateral collateral ligament and rotating medially tibia. All patients were followed up for 6 to 24 months (average,18 months). The average bone healing time was 10.2 weeks (8 to 12 weeks).According to Rasmussen's knee functional score system, the results were excellent in 10 cases and good in 2 cases. No complications occurred, such as numbness of limbs, instability of the knee and internal fixation loosening. Conclusion The approach above the fibular head is feasible, simple and safe for treating posterolateral tibial plateau fracture.
