3.Change of Brain Stem Auditory Evoked Potential in Newborn Infant with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy after Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Objective To investigate the therapeutic role of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) on neonatal hearing impairment induced by hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE),by observing the brain stem auditory evoked potential(BAEP) changes of newborn infants with HIE.Methods One hundred and six cases of HIE in newborn infants(in which 82 cases were mild and 24 cases were severe) treated with HBO and conventional therapy were chosen as HBO treatment group,while other 42 cases of HIE in newborn infants(in which 38 cases were mild and 4 cases were severe) treated with conventional therapy only were served as control group.BAEP was measured at the 3rd to 7th day on patients before treatment and 42 days after birth with or without HBO therapy respectively,and the differences of BAEP changes were compared between the both groups.Results 1.In control group,the rate of abnormality was 47.4% and 31.6%,respectively before and after therapy in mild HIE cases(P=0.240),and 75.0%,50.0% in the moderate-severe HIE cases(P=0.462).2.In HBO group,the abnormal rate was 45.1% and 25.6%,respectively in mild HIE cases before and after therapy,while 75.0% and 41.7% in moderate-severe HIE cases(Pa=0.014,0.039).3.There was obvious difference between control group and HBO group in mild HIE cases(P=0.013),while there was no significant change between the 2 groups in moderate-severe HIE cases(P=0.717).Conclusions Treatment with HBO combined with conventional therapy may improve the abnormal rate of BAEP in patients with HIE according to the present test,especially in mild HIE cases,thus earlier HBO therapy may be used to mitigate hearing impairment and improve prognosis induced by the disease.
5. Expression of a novel inhibitor of apoptosis protein livin in malignant tumor cells and tissues and its clinical significance

Objective: To examine and analyze the expression of two isoforms of livin (livin α/livin β), a novel inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) family member, in tumor cell lines and malignant tumor tissues and analyze the relationship between livin expression and clinical pathological features of different tumors. Methods: Livin mBNA expression was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (BT-PCR) in 12 malignant tumor cell lines, 50 different malignant tumor tissues, and 20 cases of normal tissues. Results: Livin mBNA was highly expressed in seven cell lines (Hela, SPEA-1, SBE-2, PC14, MKN45, LOVO, and HHCC) and poor expressed in A549 cells, It had negative expression in other four kinds of cell lines ( HL-7702, Hep-2, 7721 and K562). Livin mRNA was positively expressed in 32 of 50 malignant tumor cases (64.0%). The expression of livin mRNA was at low level in paracancerous tumors tissues (2%). Livin expression had no significant association with differentiation degree, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of tumor patients. Conclusion: Livin expression in tumor cell lines and malignant tumor tissues provides stronger evidence for further investigating the relationship between livin and tumor initiation and development. It may serve as a new target for malignant tumor diagnosis and therapy.

AIM To study the mechanism of effects about total flavones of choeropondias axillaris(TFC) to heart. METHODS The effects of TFC on contractility were investigated through acting on the guinea pig right ventricle papillary muscles. RESULTS ① TFC decreased both the contractility and contraction rate of papillary muscles. ②The quantity effect curve of CaCl 2 was shifted to right after giving TFC. ③TFC 30.4 ?mol?L -1 prolonged remarkably the functional refractory period (FRP) of guinea pig right ventricle papillary muscles, but exerted no effect on excitability. CONCLUSION TFC can inhibit the Ca 2+ influx into cell in a concentration dependent manner.

9.Phacoemulsification on corneal endothelium cells in diabetic patients with different disease duration

AIM:To observed the variation regularity of corneal endothelial cells in patients with different diabetes duration after phacoemulsification, and investigate the effects of diabetes and its disease duration on corneal endothelial cells.
METHODS: Ninety-seven ( 135 eyes ) cataract patients with diabetes were selected randomly and divided into GroupⅠ( which diabetes duration ≥10a) and GroupII(which diabetes duration <10a) according to their disease duration. Additionally 62 (89 eyes) age-related cataract patients were randomly selected as the control group. The corneal endothelial cell density ( CD ) , proportion of hexagonal cell and coefficient of variation ( CV ) in the three group patients were measured respectively before phacoemulsification and after surgery. And the measurement results were statistically analyzed.
RESULTS:The corneal endothelial CD and proportion of hexagonal cell in the three group were decreased after surgery compared with preoperative. But the CV of corneal endothelial cells was increased on the 1 st wk and in 1st mo after surgery compared with the preoperative. The difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05). The corneal endothelial CD and proportion of hexagonal cell in the two diabetic groups were lower than the control group after surgery. However, the CV of corneal endothelial cells was higher than the control group. The difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ) . There was no significant difference in the corneal endothelial CD, proportion of hexagonal cell and CV between the two diabetic groups before phacoemulsification (P>0. 05). The proportion of hexagonal cell in Group Ⅰ was lower than which in GroupIIafter surgery. While the CV was higher than which in Group II. The difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification has some damage on the corneal endothelial. Since the impact of diabetes on the morphology and function of corneal endothelial cell was related to the diabetic duration. So phacoemulsification has more obvious damage on the corneal endothelial in diabetic patients. And the diabetic duration was longer, the damage on the corneal endothelial in phacoemulsification was more easily.
10.Treatmemt of ischemic central retinal vein occlusion by argon laser photocoagulation combined with intravitreous injection of triamcinolone acetonide

Objectives To evaluate the therapeutic effect of argon laser photocoagulation combined with intravitreous injection of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) on ischemic central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). Methods Argon laser photocoagulation combined with intravitreous injection of TA was performed on 17 patients (17 eyes) with CRVO between December 2003 and July 2004. Results During the follow-up of 4-10 months, the visual acuity improved in 16 patients, including alleviated or even disappeared cystoid macular edema (CME) in 5, and recurred macular edema in 5 with decreased visual acuity after 3 months. Six patients had increased ocular pressure after intra-ocular injection which alleviated after treated suitably. No neovascularization in angle or secondary neovascular glaucoma was found. Conclusion [WTBZ]Argon laser photocoagulation combined with intravitreous injection of TA may improve the visual acuity and reduce complications in ischemic CRVO, though macular edema may recur in some cases.
