1.A case of pneumonia; cough and accompanying body pain by the cough were effectively treated with acupuncture

Pneumonia is one of major causes of cough, which sometimes resists medication and remarkably deteriorates QOL of the patient. We report a case of pneumonia in a person suffering from severe cough and pain in the general body accompanied by cough for which conventional medication did not work but was improved by acupuncture treatment.
A 47-year-old woman was diagnosed by her physician with pneumonia on August 2, 200X. Although antibiotics were administered, her symptoms were not improved. She visited Meiji University of Integrative Medicine Hospital and was hospitalized on the same day. Despite strict medication with antibiotics, antitussive agent and expectorant during hospitalization, her severe cough and body pain remained unchanged.
Acupuncture treatment was then started on August 7. The basic meridian points used were LU1 (Zhongfu), LU5 (Chize), BL13(Feishu), LU7 (Leique), LI4 (Hegu), GB20 (Fengchi), GB14 (Danzhui), ST12 (Quepen), ST11 (Qishe), and CV22 (Tiantu). The acupuncture needles were retained for ten minutes at these points in each session. After ten acupuncture treatments for over seven days, the VAS for body pain accompanied by cough showed a remarkable improvement. Also, significant relief in cough was observed every time immediately after treatment.
We suggested that acupuncture treatment might be useful for cough and/or pain in the body accompanied by cough in a patient with pneumonia.
2.Effects of different microhabitas on growth and four kinds of volatile oil components of Atractylodes lancea.

To investigate the suitable site environment for Atractylodes lancea, field trials in different niches was carried out, and the seedling growth, biomass and volatile oil components in different microhabitas was studied. The study found that the survival rate, plant height, volatile oil content of those which growing under the bamboo were significantly higher than those exposed in the open field. The survival rate understory was (76 ± 15.1) %, plant height understory was (77 ± 14. 8) cm and the summation of the four kinds of volatile oil content understory reached up to 4.09%; The same evaluation values of these indicators of the four faces in the open field respectively: survival rate is 30%, plant height was (77 ± 14.8) cm and the summation of the four kinds of volatile oil content was 2.24%. But, the yield of the understory (41 ± 22.3) g was significantly lower than those four faces in the open field (104.5 g) on the contrary. For the four open field towards, the yield of the east facing, which organic matter and other nutritional conditions were better than others, was significantly higher than those in the other facings. A. lancea was found to be an anti-poor and shading-like or growing in east facing slope herb through the correlation analysis of light, temperature, soil and leaf nutrients with seedling growth, biomass and volatile oil components. It also reminds us that the understory herb with high survival rate, low incidence, low management costs, and high medicinal ingredients, although it's production is not so high, but it can be improved by increased organic fertilizer. So the ecological planting patterns which can intercropping herbs with the forest was proposed.

The transition to the new specialist certification system has progressed in cardiovascular surgery, enabling many surgeons to obtain specialist certification earlier than before. This study focuses on conditions that are particularly easy to overlook factors in the application process, namely academic activities, surgical experience, and Off-the-Job Training (OJT). This report summarizes these changes to facilitate efficient specialist certification applications for trainees.
4.Usefulness of Cell Blocks From Forceps and Brush Washing Fluid in Bronchoscopy

Background: Cell blocks (CBs) from pleural fluid are frequently used in the practice of respiratory medicine, but there have been few reports on the use of CBs from forceps and brush washing fluid in bronchoscopy for pathological diagnosis. We retrospectively analyzed the usefulness of CBs from forceps and brush washing fluid. Patients and Methods: Patients who underwent bronchoscopy and had CBs made from forceps and brush washing fluid in bronchoscopy at our institution between June 2016 and May 2021 were included. Cases in which additional information was obtained from CBs were reviewed in detail. Results: In total, 138 patients had CBs made from forceps and brush washing fluid in bronchoscopy during the study period. EBUS-GS (endobronchial ultrasound-guide sheath) was used for 102 of these patients. The final diagnosis was lung cancer in 114 cases, infection disease in 10 cases, metastatic lung tumor in 8 cases, lymphoproliferative disease in 2 cases, sarcoidosis in 1 case, and organizing pneumonia in 1 case. There were 13 cases with additional information obtained from CBs, all of which were cases of malignant tumors. Conclusions: CBs from forceps and brush washing fluid in bronchoscopy were useful for pathological diagnosis in some cases.
