Objective To analyze slowly the digestibility and postprandial glycemic response after consum of different cereal starch. Method Starch was quantified into different nutritional fractions using the in vitro Englyst test. Ten healthy subjects consumed 7 kinds of carbohydrate foods with 50 g normal maize starch, waxy maize starch, wheat starch, sticky rice starch, rice starch, potato starch or glucose. Blood samples from postprandial zero to 120 min after consumption of test materials were collected for measurement of glucose, glycemic index and extended glycemic index. Results Native cereal starch was ideal slowly digestible starch (SDS) and the proportion of SDS was about 50% based on Englyst test. The GI value of cereal starch was more than 90% and belonged to high glycemic index foods, but EGI was positive, regarding glucose powder as 100%. Conclusion Cereal starch with slow digestibility and similar glycemic response was a better carbohydrate material to provide a slow and prolonged release of blood glucose and maintenance of glucose homeostasis, which was potentially beneficial to health.

Objective To establish a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model of a swine mandible, simulate the dynamic procedure of bullet damaging the swine mandible and explore a finite ele-ment analysis method on maxiilofacial gunshot wound. Methods The digital imaging and communica-tions in medicine (DICOM) data obtained from CT scanning of a swine mandible were remerged into a 3D finite element model of the original specimen through Mimics and ANSA software, then a simulation of 3D finite element model penetrated by a 7.62 mm bullet was carried out through LS-DYNA software. The simulation data were compared with those from animal experiment in laboratory to test the feasibility of 3D finite element model and the simulation method. Results A 3D finite element model of a swine mandi-ble was established, with highly identical geometric size with the specimen. In the meantime, the dynam-ic process of a 7.62 mm bullet damage to the model was successfully simulated. Data from the simulation and those from animal experiment showed a high level of consistency. Conclusion 3D finite element method is prosperous in application in basic research on maxillofacial gunshot wound.

This study was aimed to investigate effect on the expression of cell inflammatory factor IL-1α, IL-1β and IL-6 of modified San-Jia-San (SJS) decoction on cultured hippocampal neurons injury induced by β-amyloid 25-35 protein (Aβ25-35). Primary cultured hippocampal neurons were divided into the normal group, model group, huperzine A group, low-dose SJS group, middle-dose SJS group, and high-dose SJS group. After selective culture for 7~10 days and the absorption of culture fluid, the blank culture fluid, normal cerebrospinal fluid (normal saline group), huperzine A cerebrospinal fluid, and low-, middle- and high-dose SJS cerebrospinal fluid were added, respectively. The culture fluid was added up to an equivalent medium. The incubation was 2 h under the temperature of 37℃. Ex-cept the normal group, Aβ25-35 dealt with aging (the final concentration was 5 μmol/L) was added to other groups to establish AD cell model. An equivalent amount of culture fluid was added to the normal group. After 24 h of incuba-tion, the cell culture supernatant was collected. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used in the content detection of IL-1α, IL-1β and IL-6. The results showed that modified SJS decoction can decrease the content of IL-1α, IL-1β and IL-6 in the cell culture supernatant. It was concluded that the modified SJS decoction can effectively inhibit the expression of cell inflammatory factor IL-1α, IL-1β and IL-6. It had certain anti-inflammatory effect to protect hippocampal neurons.
