Osteocalcin is a bone matrix noncollagen protein which is one of the most abundant secretory products of osteoblasts. Resent studies have demonstrated that osteocalcin is not only a specific biochemical marker of bone turnover, but also involved in the regulation of energy metabolism. Further studies in the pathophysiological functions of osteocalcin might contribute to the treatment of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

Objective:To study factors influencing drug abuse in f emale.Method:230 female drug abusers admitted into Institute of Dr ug Withdrawal were investigated by Drug Abuse Inventory made by Chinese Drug Depend ence Institute.Data was analyzed by Logistic analysis.Results:Risk f actors related to drug abuse included:poor education,unemployment,divorce or sep aration,stimulus seeking,destructive social relationship,meaningless life.Conclusion:Drug abuse in female is a problem occurring on poor psychosoci al background.

Objective To observe the effect of exogenous basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on apoptosis of cultured human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells exposed to visible light,and determine the role of bFGF, fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1),bcl 2 and caspase 3. Methods (2000? 500) lx cold white light was used. Exogenous bFGF was utilized during culture. Annexin annexin V fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodium (V FITC/PI) labeling,flow cytometry, Immunocytochemical staining, enzyme associated absorb examing and reverse transcriptional polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) were used to determine the apoptosis, the expression levels of bFGF, FGFR1, bcl 2, as well as the activity of caspase 3. Results No protective effect of bFGF was observed under the concentration 5 ng/ml. Objective To investigate the radioprotective effect of genistein (GEN) on murine bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs). Methods Adult male mice were administered orally with GEN at 24 h prior to 6.0 Gy gamma irradiation. The number of CFU-F, the adherent capability of bone marrow cells (BMCs) to BMSCs adherence layer, and the expressions of cell adhesion molecules including vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), fibronectin (Fn), and laminin (Ln) on BMSCs cultured in vitro were detected, respectively. Results The number of CFU-F, the adherent capability, the expressions of VCAM-1, Fn, and Ln on BMSCs cultured in vitro in GEN-pretreated mice were higher and recovered more rapidly than those in mice without GEN-pretreatment. Light microscopy revealed that there was no significant difference in morphology of BMSCs in both groups after irradiation injury. Conclusion These observations suggest that radioprotective properties associated with GEN are largely a consequence of the reduction of damage, the induction of cell proliferation, and the promotion of adherent capability recovery in recipient mice. These changes may ultimately ameliorate bone marrow microenvironment and therefore accelerate the rebuilding of hematopoietic system after irradiation injury.

[Objective]To explore the clinical effects of selecting differents type of tendon transplants to reconstruct anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) using press fit technique.[Method]A total of 101 cases of ACL injury were included in this study,62 cases were athletic injuries,22 cases were traffic injuries,and 17 cases were daily-life injuries.According to patient's condition using different types of tendon transplant in which hamstring-tendon-knot 42 cases,bone-bolt-hamstring tendon knot 32 cases,patella bone-quadriceps tendon 27 cases,the tendon-knot was completely fit-into the bottle-necked femoral tunnel,and the tibial tunnel were pulled ont and seperated into two bundles, then tie a knot to fix the tendons tightly onto the bone bridge.[Result]In this group 98 patients were followed-up,According to the knee joint effective evaluate standard,88 were excellent,6 good and 4 fine.Excellent and good rate was 85.7%.[Conclusion]According to patient's condition,different type of tendon transplant to reconstruct ACL by press fit technique should be selected carefully.It is an method of easy to manipulate,reliable fixation,minimized trauma,biological fixation,economical and free expensive implant technique.

Objective To investigate the outcomes of arthroscopically lateral retinaculum patellae release and medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction using the semitendinosus tendon autograft for the treatment of habitual or recurrent dislocation of the patella. Methods 18 cases of recurrent dislocation of the patella were included in this group, among which there were 6 males and 12 females. The average age was 20 years old(range from 17 to 24 years). Arthroscopic investigation found tensed lateral retinaculum patellae and damaged cartilage at patellar medial margin and femoral lateral condyle. There were 6 cases of Ⅱdegree cartilage injuries, 5 cases of Ⅲ degrees injuries, and 7 cases of Ⅳ degree injuries caused by patellofemoral joint impact. For cases of Ⅳ degree injuries, the damaged cartilage was shaved and microfractured. For cases of Ⅱ or Ⅲ degree injuries, radiofrequency system was used for debridement. After the lateral retinaculum patellae was extensively released, semitendinosus tendon autograft was used to reconstruct the medial patellofemoral ligament. The knee joint was flexed and extended. Patella's dynamic motion, the tension of the tendon and relationship between the femoral trochlea and patellar bone were arthroscopically observed. Interface screw was used to fix the tendon ends within the bone tunnel on condylus medialis femoris. Results All patients were followed up for 9 to 19 months averaging 13 months. No patellar dislocation occurred postoperatively. Apprehensive test, patella tilt test were negative; and Apley test were negative in 16 patients and positive in 2 patients. One case of inferior pole of patella fractured. Axial view of X-ray and MR images of patella showed 15 cases regained normal anatomical relation of patellofemoral joint. 3 cases had mild semi-dislocation. Lysholm's score averaging (78.0?4.5) points preoperatively and (94.0?3.5) points postoperatively. Conclusion Lateral retinaculum patellae solution and medial part reconstruction under arthroscope can effectively cure recurrent subluxation of the patella and improve knee joint function.

[Objective]To determine the efficacy and characteristics of percutaneous vertebroplasty in treating patients with vertebral osteoporosis fractures combined with intraosseous cyst.[Method]Thirteen cases of vertebral osteoporosis fractures combined with intraosseous cyst were performed with percutaneous vertebroplasty.Bone cement containing appropriate proportion allograft bone powder were injected to vertebral body according to the sererity of osteoporosis and the size of intraosseous cyst.[Result]According to standard of World Health Organization about pain,complete pain relief was in 10,partial in 2,and slight in 1 patient.One case developed bone cement leakage into the paravertebral soft tissues during operation,but there were no clinical signs and symptoms.The next vertebral body fracture was found at sixteen days after percutaneous vertebroplasty in 1 case,and percutaneous vertebroplasty was repeated to relieve his pain.This patient was followed-up for 1 year,and no refracture was observed.[Conclusion]Vertebral osteoporosis fractures combined with intraosseous cyst is a special disease in elderly population.Percutaneous vertebroplasty is effective and it shouled be the first option for treatment of patients with vertebral osteoporosis fractures combined with intraosseous cyst.The complications could be reduced by local treatment combined with anti-osteoporosis drugs and correct rehabilitation.

Objective To observe the effect of visible light on apoptosis of cultured human retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells. Methods Being the light source,500lx,(2 000?500)lx and (3 400?200)lx cold white light were used. The duration of exposure was 0,6,12 and 24 hours respectively. Apoptosis was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP nick end labelling, Annexin V flunorescein isothiocyanate/Propidium iodium labelling and flow cytometry. Results Apoptosis and necrosis were found in cultured human RPE cells which were exposed to visible light.(1)A significant increase in apoptotic and necrotic percentages was consistent with a higher light intensity.(2)Apoptosis was the main response to shorter (6 h and 12 h) exposure duration,while necrosis was more pronounced correlated to the prolongation of post exposure culture ( P 500 lx) increases the proportion of apoptosis and necrosis of human RPE cells in vitro.The extent is related to exposure intensity and duration. It demonstrates that the lower intensity and the shorter duration of exposure to light are, the more pronounced apoptotic percentages are observed,otherwise necrosis.

Objective To discuss the value and the effect of radiofrequency treatment of tennis elbow under the arthroscopy. Methods From March 2003 to Jan 2004,eight cases of tennis elbow were treated by TOPAZ with local anesthesia under arthroscopy. Results The effects and functions were satisfactory after radiofrequency treatment. The symptoms of pain were completely disappeared in 7 and obviously relieve in 1. No blood vessel and nerve injury or infection occurred. Conclusion The methods of radiofrequency therapy for tennis elbow under arthroscopy has the advantage of minimum invasion, less pain and earlier rehabilitation.
