PURPOSE: To identify the effects of foot reflexology massage on fatigue, stress and depression of postpartum women. METHODS: A nonequivalent control group pre-post design was used. A total of 70 women in a postpartum care center were recruited and were assigned to the experimental group (35) or control group (35). Foot reflexology massage was provided to the experimental group once a day for three days. Data were collected before and after the intervention program which was carried out from December, 2013 to February, 2014. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and t-test. RESULTS: The level of fatigue in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group (t= - 2.74, p =.008). The level of cortisol in the urine of women in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group (t= - 2.19, p =.032). The level of depression in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group (t= - 3.00, p =.004). CONCLUSION: The results show that the foot reflexology massage is an effective nursing intervention to relieve fatigue, stress, and depression for postpartum women.

The distribution and morphology of cholecystokinin-8 (CCK 8)-, neuropeptide Y (NPY)-, Substance P (SP)- and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)-immunoreactivity were examined in the cat superior colliculus (SC) by means of immunohistochemistry. Judging from this study, some neuropeptides-IR neurons may be present in the superficial layers of the sc. And these neurons and neuropeptides may be involved in the functions of the superficial layers.

PURPOSE: This study was to examine the effects of noise block on anxiety and vital sign of gynecologic laparoscopic surgery. METHODS: The data were collected from March to May 2011. Participants were sixty patients with gynecologic laparoscopic surgery, divided into 30 of experimental group and 30 of control group at C University hospital located in I city. The day before surgery, demographic data, trait-state anxiety and vital signs were measured at ward. After noise block, the data were measured using VAS anxiety and vital signs before anesthesia and in recovery room. And then state anxiety and vital signs were measured in ward after surgery. The data were analyzed by chi2-test, t-test, repeated measured ANOVA and Bonferroni comparison method using SPSS/WIN 19.0. RESULTS: After conducting noise block program, the experimental group showed significant decrease in state anxiety and heart rate compared to those of the control group. But there were not significant differences in VAS anxiety, systolic pressure and diastolic pressure between two groups. CONCLUSION: This program can be regarded as an effective nursing intervention for the management of anxiety with gynecologic laparoscopic surgery.

PURPOSE: This study is aimed at identifying factors influencing attitudes of Evidence-Based Practice among nursing students. METHODS: 202 nursing students were recruited from B city and G district. The questionnaires included critical thinking dispositions, information retrieval skills, knowledge and attitudes of Evidence-Based Practice, and characteristics. Data were analyzed by SPSS/Win 21.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regressions. RESULTS: The average score of undergraduate nursing students for Evidence-Based Practice attitudes was 32.92±4.57. Evidence-Based Practice attitudes had positive correlation with critical thinking disposition (r=.53, p<.001), information retrieval skills (r=.45, p<.001) and Evidence-Based Practice knowledge (r=.42, p<.001). Factors influencing Evidence-Based Practice attitudes were critical thinking dispositions (β=.45) and Evidence-Based Practice knowledge (β=.30). Total variance was explained about 35.3% (F=55.80, p<.001). CONCLUSION: These results show that teaching strategies that enhance critical thinking dispositions are recommended to improve Evidence-Based Practice attitudes among nursing students. Also, nursing education should include a regular Evidence-Based Practice curriculum to improve Evidence-Based Practice knowledge as is necessary for students to improve information retrieval skill. Reading nursing articles can help nursing students comprehend the up-to-data evidence of clinical practice.

When fabricating definitive implant-supported fixed prostheses in upper and lower completely edentulous patients, it is crucial to get information about the vertical dimension, jaw relationship, implants, abutments and gingival contour.In this case, temporary prostheses were used to take the information. The temporary prosthesis was scanned outside of the mouth so that it increased the efficiency of scanning it. During the scan of the prosthesis, a scan zig which connected both posterior parts of the prosthesis was used to minimize the scan errors. We report this case because we obtained satisfactory functional and esthetic results by using the digital technology.
