1.Perception of Influencing Factors on Acceptance of Mobile Health Monitoring Service: A Comparison between Users and Non-users.
Healthcare Informatics Research 2013;19(3):167-176
OBJECTIVES: To improve and promote mobile health monitoring services, this study investigated the perception of various factors influencing the acceptance of services between users and non-users. METHODS: This study drew 9 variables from studies related to mobile health monitoring services and the unified theory of acceptance and the use of technology model. A total of 219 samples were collected by a paper-based survey from users (n = 106) and non-users (n = 113). Analysis was carried out using a two-independent samples t-test. RESULTS: The findings indicate that users have a more positive perception of service benefits than non-users. Although there were difference between users and non-users, all respondents had a positive perception of the service benefits. After users used the service, they were less concerned about the risks involved with it. However, both users and non-users had a high negative perception of service risk. Users also had a more positive perception of intimacy and communication associated with the services than non-users. Both users and non-users had a high behavioral intention to use the services. Finally, this study observed that older subjects tended to recognize the higher value of the services. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides insights to improve and invigorate mobile health monitoring services. This study also offers insights into how to increase the number of users of mobile health monitoring services in South Korea.

2.Factors Influencing the Acceptance of Distributed Research Networks in Korea: Data Accessibility and Data Security Risk
Healthcare Informatics Research 2023;29(4):334-342
Objectives:
Distributed research networks (DRNs) facilitate multicenter research by enabling the use of multicenter data; therefore, they are increasingly utilized in healthcare fields. Despite the numerous advantages of DRNs, it is crucial to understand researchers' acceptance of these networks to ensure their effective application in multicenter research. In this study, we sought to identify the factors influencing the adoption of DRNs among researchers in Korea.
Methods:
We used snowball sampling to collect data from 149 researchers between July 7 and August 28, 2020. Five factors were used to formulate the hypotheses and research model: data accessibility, usefulness, ease of use, data security risk, and intention to use DRNs. We applied a structural equation model to identify relationships within the research model.
Results:
Data accessibility and data security were critical to the acceptance and use of DRNs. The usefulness of DRNs partially mediated the relationship between data accessibility and the intention to use DRNs. Interestingly, ease of use did not influence the intention to use DRNs, but it was affected by data accessibility. Furthermore, ease of use impacted the perceived usefulness of DRNs.
Conclusions
This study highlighted major factors that can promote the broader adoption and utilization of DRNs. Consequently, these findings can contribute to the expansion of active multicenter research using DRNs in the field of healthcare research.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1995;33(2):301-305
PURPOSE: To evaluate MR characteristics of periosteal reactions and subperiosteal abscesses in osteomyelitis as compared with radiographs. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 28 patients(18 males, 10 females) with osteomyelitis. Nineteen patients underwent MR imaging with 0.5 T. We analyzed for morphologic patterns, intervals of appearance and disappearance of periosteal reactions after symptom onset. Twenty-three patients were confirmed by surgery and 5 patients by the radiologic findings, clinical and laboratory data. RESULTS: Periosteal reaction appeared as low signal intensity arc on the T1- and T2-weighted axial images. In 3-7 days after symptom onset, periosteal reactions and subperiosteal abscesses were noted on MR imaging, and only two of eleven patients were noted in radiographs. Periosteal reactions of 8-14 days after symptom onset were demonstrated in all of 13 patient on MR, and 9 on plain radiographs. All patients with 2 weeks after symptom onset showed perioste.al reaction in plain film and MR. The periosteal reactions persisted until approximately 2 to 3 months after treatment on follow up radiographs. CONCLUSION: Periosteal reactions in osteomyelitis are detected on the MR imaging earlier than plain film. MR is valuable in detecting subperiosteal abscess which is not appecent in simple radiographs. Periosteal reactions can be seen on MR in 3 days after symptom onset and persist for 2-3 months after treatment.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1994;31(4):651-656
PURPOSE: To evaluate the usefulness of real-time ultrasound-guided biopsy as an aid in diagnosing pleural attached lung lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Over a 2-year period (March 1992 through February 1994), 52 US-guided diagnostic biopsies were performed in 50 patients with peripheral lung lesions in contact with chest wall. 15 cases were performed with gun biospy and 37 cases with fine needles. Final diagnosis was confirmed by surgery and clinical follow-up. RESULTS: In 44 of 52 cases(84.6%), we obtained histologic or cytologic material by US-guided biopsy. Diagnostic accuracy and tissue type specific accuracy for malignancy were 83.9%(26/31) and 67.7% (21/31), respectively. Eighteen case% were reported to be benign and one of them was proven to be metastatic lesion. We could not find any complications such as hemoptysis or pneumothorax. CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided biopsy is a simple, safe and accurate diagnostic procedure for evaluation of peripheral lung lesion attached to the pleura.

Korean Journal of Pathology 2011;45(Suppl 1):S84-S88
The origin of osteoclast-like giant cell tumor (OGCT) of the salivary gland has been debated because the prototypic cells of osteoclast-like cells and mononuclear stromal cells are largely unexplained in this gland. Bone marrow-derived CD14+ and CD45+ monocyte-derived multipotential cells (CD14+/CD45+ MOMC) may be one of the possible origins of OGCTs of salivary glands, which have never been explored in salivary OGCTs. We present a case of OGCT accompanied with carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma in the parotid gland of a 67-year-old Korean female. The tumor presented as a rapidly growing cervical mass comprising a central area of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma and a peripheral circumferential area of OGCT. The immunohistochemical staining pattern was phenotypically consistent with bone marrow-derived CD14+/CD45+ MOMC. This case is the first report of a salivary OGCT in Korea.

The Korean Journal of Critical Care Medicine 2008;23(1):18-24
BACKGROUND: The present study was designed to examine the purpose of intensive care unit (ICU) admission and the prevalence of disease in postoperative patients admitted to general surgical-medical ICU. METHODS: Between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2007, 646 cases of 612 patients admitted to a general postoperative patients admitted to general surgical-medical ICU were examined. The patients were classified into two groups, ICU treatment and ICU monitoring groups according to Knaus' suggestion which defines the kinds of treatment done exclusively in ICU. Patients' demographics, preoperative American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification (ASA) grade, prevalence of disease and emergent operation rate were analyzed. RESULTS: 255 patients (39.5%) were included in the ICU treatment group and 391 cases (60.5%) in the ICU monitoring group. The prevalence of respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous diseases was higher significantly in the ICU treatment group. In addition, the average of ASA grade and the duration of operation were higher significantly in the ICU treatment group. CONCLUSION: Admission rate only for monitoring was higher than one for intensive treatment. An alternative strategy should be considered to care for postoperative patients who need just close monitoring.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 2009;56(1):36-46
BACKGROUND: Advances in the field of interventional and diagnostic radiology have resulted in anesthesiologists becoming involved in angiographic suites. In the present study, we evaluated the characteristics of patients and the anesthetic management in an angiographic suite, to determine what factors influenced the patient outcome. METHODS: Data pertaining to patients that were anesthetized at an angiographic suite in a university hospital between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2007 were evaluated retrospectively. Specifically, we evaluated the patient characteristics and the types of anesthesia administered, to determine which factors were related to patient outcome. RESULTS: Sixty-four percent of the patients enrolled in this study were women. Cases involving coiling for unruptured and ruptured aneurysm, embolization for intracranial arteriovenous malformation and fistula, pediatric diagnostic angiography, embolization for extracranial arteriovenous malformation, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation all required the involvement of anesthesiologists. Major postoperatve complications included pneumonia, atelectasis, and hydrocephalus. In addition, GCS, net fluid balance, and anesthesia time had influence on patient outcome. CONCLUSIONS: We evaluated the characteristics of patient groups, procedures, and postoperative complications in an angiographic suite. The results of our analysis revealed that a through understanding of nervous and vascular pathology, as well as knowledge of current interventional radiology, neuroanesthesia and vascular anesthesia techniques is essential for development of safe and effective care.

Healthcare Informatics Research 2013;19(2):110-120
OBJECTIVES: Intensified competitiveness in the healthcare industry has increased the number of healthcare centers and propelled the introduction of customer relationship management (CRM) systems to meet diverse customer demands. This study aimed to develop the information system success model of the CRM system by investigating previously proposed indicators within the model. METHODS: The evaluation areas of the CRM system includes three areas: the system characteristics area (system quality, information quality, and service quality), the user area (perceived usefulness and user satisfaction), and the performance area (personal performance and organizational performance). Detailed evaluation criteria of the three areas were developed, and its validity was verified by a survey administered to CRM system users in 13 nationwide health promotion centers. The survey data were analyzed by the structural equation modeling method, and the results confirmed that the model is feasible. RESULTS: Information quality and service quality showed a statistically significant relationship with perceived usefulness and user satisfaction. Consequently, the perceived usefulness and user satisfaction had significant influence on individual performance as well as an indirect influence on organizational performance. CONCLUSIONS: This study extends the research area on information success from general information systems to CRM systems in health promotion centers applying a previous information success model. This lays a foundation for evaluating health promotion center systems and provides a useful guide for successful implementation of hospital CRM systems.
