Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(5):650-653
Sensitivity to mercury appears to be not uncommon and perhaps the commonest contact with mercury in the general population is by amalgam dental restorations. Recently, we have experienced 2 cases of mercury dermatitis following amalgam dental restorations which were confirmed by the patch test. We report our cases with the patch test results and review the literatue on previous reports.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(5):509-512
A case of acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis (Sweet's syndrome) characterized by tender erythematous plaques on the face, neck, and limbs was reported. This 43-year-old male patient has been suffering from fever and sore throat prior to development of skin lesions. Positive laboratory findings were polymorphonuclear leukocytosis and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The symptoms well responded to corticosteroid therapy.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(5):645-652
We observed the clinical and histopathologic characteristics of acquired, bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules in each 80 and 23 patients. The results were as follows: 1. All patients were female and the peak age of onset was third decade with an a,verage age of 27.4 years. 2. The colors of lesions were slate, brown, dark brown, and blue black in order of freguency. 3. The lesions were most comrnonly observed in the malar area and alae nasi. 4. Three patients had family history of acquired, bilateral nevus of Ota-like :macules. 5. Histopathologically pigment-bearing cells, bipolar or irregular in shape, were found mostly in the upper- and mid-portion of the dermis. The melanocytes showed weakly positive dopa reaction. 6. In electron microscopic observation, these pigrnent-bearing cells contained many singly dispersed melanosomes in stage 3 and 4 of melanization and wece surrounded by an extracellular sheath.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(2):320-325
She describe herein two cases of eccrine spiradenoma. One is an indolent and the other is painful or tender multiple small nodules distributed in a zosteriform pattern. Histopathologically, the encapsulated lobules of the tumor are composed of two types of cells, intensely staining cells and pale staining cells, usually arranged in whorls, cords, and pseudoglands. In the second case, enzyme histochemical staining and electron microscopic examination have been done and are compared with other cases in the literature.

Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 2021;23(1):72-82
Purpose:
This study used a mixed methods research design in an attempt to verify the effects of robot-assisted rehabilitation on the gait ability of stroke patients with hemiplegia, and thereby further understand the benefits and challenges of stroke patients’ experiences relying on robot-assisted rehabilitation.
Methods:
An exploratory sequential mixed methods study design was used in order to combine both quantitative and qualitative data. For the quantitative data collection, a total of 30 stroke patients with hemiplegia were recruited from one rehabilitation hospital. Qualitative data were collected through individual interviews using semi-structured questionnaires for a group of 15 patients who were currently undergoing robot-assisted rehabilitation. The data were analyzed through qualitative content analysis.
Results:
As a result of the quantitative analysis, there were significant differences between the two groups in terms of daily living activity patterns, total number of steps, and average walking speed. As a result of the qualitative analysis, the four main themes derived consisted of, ‘curiosity about the usage of robot-assisted rehabilitation,’ ‘pleasure experienced while using the robots,’ ‘insufficient information about robots,’ and ‘a lack of education about robot-assisted rehabilitation.’
Conclusions
Robot-assisted rehabilitation had a significant effect on the walking ability of stroke patients with hemiplegia. Additionally, stroke patients with hemiplegia experienced difficulty during the course of their robot-assisted rehabilitation, due to a lack of sufficient information on correct usage techniques. These quantitative and qualitative findings could provide the basic foundation for the development of an educational program on robot-assisted rehabilitation.
7.Effects of Scleral Buckling on Eyeball in Young Rabbits.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2000;41(1):74-80
There has been a series of reports indicating that scleral buckling[SB] surgery may induce high myopia in advanced retinopathy of prematurity. The mechanism of SB on refraction, however, has not been clearly known. We investigated the effects of SB on eyeball in young rabbits, including mechanism of refractive change. In 9 rabbits with 5 weeks old[Group A]and 11 rabbits with 8 weeks old[Group B], SB was performed for right eyes of all rabbits with encircling band, 2.5 mm in width.Left eyes of these were followed up for control group. Spherical equivalent, corneal power, and axial length were measured before SB and at 2, 4, and 8 weeks postoperatively. We compared these measures between experimental and control groups, and analyzed the influence of age at operation. In control group, corneal refractive power was decreased, axial length was increased, and spherical equivalent developed emmetropization in aging. High myopia was developed in all eyes with SB, and the increase of axial length was the major factor in myopia. These changes were greater in group A than group B.In experimental group, the degree of myopia was increased at 4 and 8 weeks postoperatively, but corneal power and axial length were not statistically changed. In conclusion, the SB in younger rabbits induced higher degree of axial myopia. These findings may suggest that SB in infant could induce significant axial myopia and secondary amblyopia, especially younger age.

Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1991;8(1):98-106
Apgar score is most widely used evaluating indicator of newborn health, but it is very subjective. Umbilical cord blood gas analysis is more objective and effective than Apgar score in evaluation of newborn status. Cord blood gas was changed slightly by processing of time after fetal birth. This study was undertaken to observe objectiveness and effectiveness of umbilical arterial blood gas analysis and effects of time interval of cord clamping to newborn health with 122 pregnant women and their babies. We observed following results: 1. There were poor correlation between Apgar score and umbilical cord arterial blood analysis in evaluating of newborn health (P>0.05). 2. There was no clinical significance of Apgar score or umbilical arterial blood gas analysis as single indicator in evaluating of newborn health (P>0.05). 3. Gas analysis and pH of umbilical arterial blood was more helpful in evaluating of newborn health than Apgar score. 4. There were no significant effects of time interval of umbilical cord clamping to newborn health. 5. If there were no indications of early umbilical cord clamping, cord blood sampling at immediately after birth without cord clamping was more effective to evaluate newborn status.

10.A Case of Early Gastric Cancer in Childhood.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 1992;12(2):259-261
The incidence of gastric cancer is high in old age group and low in young age group, extremely rare in child age. So the diagnosis of gastric cancer in young age is often delayed, and this, with other factors such as poorly differentiated histopathologic tendency and rapid growing nature, makes the prognosis poorer than in other age guoup. Therefore it should always be remembered that the young who has gastric symptom may have malignancy in his stomach in spite of the age. We report a case of early gastric cancer in a 16-years old male with the review of the literature.
