Objective To explore the magnetic properties of permanent magnet wafers commonly used in magnetotherapy to provide a basis for the scientific and rational use of sources of magnetism. Methods A magnetometer was used to measure the magnetic induction intensities of the N and S polar centers of eight groups of magnet wafers (axial magnetization) with nominal magnetic induction intensities of 6 mT, 10 mT, 20 mT, 30 mT, 60 mT,100 mT, 200 mT and 350 mT.Results There were some differences between the nominal values and the measured mean magnetic induction intensities. In a few groups the differences were close to 20%. There were also differences within the same group. The magnetic induction intensities of the two polar surfaces were not always equal for the same magnet, and there were large differences among individual magnets. Conclusions The intensities of magnetic sources must be measured before use to ensure the consistency of magnetic induction intensities in therapeutic applications.

Objective To gain more pathophysiolgic knowledge about acute obstructive hydrocephalus and to explore its rapid and effective treatment by establishing canine acute obstructive hydrocephalus model. Methods Acute obstructive hydrocephalus model was established by injecting cyan-acrylic gel glue into the fourth ventricle via posterior fosse craniotomy in 9 male adult mongrel dogs.At the same time, lateral ventricle catheterization were performed and were fixed on the scalp to connect reservoir bag so that the changes of intracranial pressure (ICP) could be measured dynamically, and the changes of neurological function were observed. Results Acute obstructive hydrocephalus model was successfully established in 6 of the total 9dogs.ICP was (48.2 ± 6.1 ) cm H2 O at 48 hours after the injection and was (56.4 ± 5.7 ) cm H2 O at 72 hours after the injection,it increased 392% and 459 % respectively. And the ICP after injection was significantly different(P < 0.01 )compared with that before injection (12.3 ± 3.1 )cm H2O.Conclusion The establishment of acute obstructive hydrocephalus model has high success rate, and is easy to reduplicate; ICP could be measured dynamically and also could be reduced by releasing CSF;Thus, ventricular drainage is the most rapid and effective treatment for acute obstructive hydrocephalus.

The method of acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training in the treatment of shoulder hand syndrome after stroke is reliablet, quick, with simple operation and less adverse reactions. Among them, characteristic acupuncture could focus on the targeted points with obvious effect than ordinary acupuncture, and the combination with rehabilitation training could greatly improve the curative effect. However, there still exist some problems in the current research, such as the difficulty of conducting blind clinical trials of acupuncture therapy; the lack of follow-up data in the evaluation of curative effect, the uncertainty of long-term curative effect; the small sample size of clinical research, etc., so multi-centered and large sample RCT research are still needed.

Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) family is one ofthe most conserved proteinin evolutionand plays critical, role in proteostasis.HSP70 is becoming an interesting target for multiple diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease. There are many drugs targeted to HSP70 in preclinical study. In this review, the classification, the structure, the function of HSP70,and the drugs of the HSP70 family are reviewed.

Objective To investigate the association of serum angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)activity and ACE gene polymorphism with vascular dementia(VD)and Alzheimer's disease(AD).Methods Using the polymerase chain reaction(PCR),ACE gene polymorphism was analyzed in 62 patients with VD,39 patients with AD and 50 healthy controls. The ACE activity in 56 patients with VD,33 patients with AD and 46 healthy controls was measured by means of capillary electrophoresis ultraviolet detection. Results The ACE activity showed no significant difference between VD,AD and healthy controls. We did not find any association of ACE gene polymorphism in patients with VD.The frequency of I allele was significantly higher in AD group than that in the controls(P

[Objective]To construct the recombinant adenovirus vector co-expressing human vascular endothelial growth factor 165(VEGF165) and angiogenin-1(Ang-1),and to observe the expression of target gene after transfection.[Method]Molecular biologic techniques were used to clone the genes of VEGF165 and Ang-1,and PCR was used to amplify the DNA sequence of IRES(internal ribozyme entry site) from pIRES2-EGFP.The genes of VEGF165,IRES and Ang-1 were subcloned to pTrack-CMV one by one to get the plasmid named pTrack-CMV-VIA,which contained all the three genes. The linearized shuttle plasmid was cotransformed into BJ5183 bacteria with backbone vector AdEasy-1.Further the recombinant plasmid was packaged and amplified in QBI-293A cells after Pac I digestion to get adenovirus vector pAd-VIA.The expression of the gene of interests was evaluated by fluorescence microscopic analysis of GFP expression and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).[Result]The recombinant adenovirus plasmid was consistent with that shown by sequencing and restriction endonucleases digestion. The recombinant pAd-VIA vector was packaged and amplified successfully in QBI-293A cells. The titer was 2?1010 PFU/ml after amplifying.High positive GFP was expressed in the field through fluorescence microscopy after being transfected by recombinant pAd-VIA.ELISA indicated the expression of the target genes. The difference between the tansfected and non-transfected group was significant(P

OBJECTIVE:
To assess the effect for local sensory to preserve great auricular nerve in the parotidectomy.
METHOD:
It was a prospective study. Eighy-one patients who underwent parotidectomy were randomly divided into 2 groups, preserving the great auricular nerve group and no preserving the great auricular nerve group. They were tested with the subjective and objective sensory function testing in 3, 6, 9, 12 months after operation. We assessed the result.
RESULT:
In the subjective sensory function testing, the result of the preserving the great auricular nerve group was better than no preserving the great auricular nerve group. In the objective sensory function testing, the result of the preserving the great auricular nerve group was obviously better than no preserving the great auricular nerve group. There was significant difference between the 2 groups (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
It was effective for recovering the sensory function that we preserved the great auricular nerve in the parotidectomy.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2004;0(07):-
Objective To investigate the multiple factors correlated to femoral head necrosis in patients over 45 years old with femoral neck fractures after closed reduction and cannulated screws fixation. Methods Three hundred patients with femoral neck fracture were admitted from May 1999 to May 2004 and treated by closed reduction and internal fixation with cannulated screws. We analyzed the multiple factors:age, gender,Garden classification,follow-up time, procedure delay, quality of reduction, time of full-weight-loading,fixation removal, and preoperative traction.Multiple correlation factors were analyzed by SPSS10.0 statistic system. Results Complete case records were documented in 99 cases who were followed up for an average of 24.5 months(range,8 to 60 months).Femoral head necrosis occurred in 15 cases(15.2%).Time of femoral head necrosis was 8 to 50 months after operation. The combination of quality of reduction, preoperative traction, age, and age?fixation re- moval was found to have the most significant influence on femoral head necrosis after internal fixation for femoral neck fractures. Conclusions Good reduction is the most important factor correlated to the outcome of a femoral neck fracture.Age is linked to the risk of necrosis but it is relatively insignificant.Preoperative traction in wrong positions can increase the incidence of necrosis.Garden classification is important in predicting femoral head necrosis and is associated with quality of reduction, but it is not a risk one in the combination of multiple correlation factors that lead to the necrosis.
