International Eye Science 2016;16(8):1519-1521
Abstract?AIM: To compare the changes in epithelial thickness profile following TransPRK and Epi-LASIK for myopia.? METHODS: In this prospective non -randomized controlled study, 76 right eyes of 76 myopic patients with the spherical equivalent refraction -1.25 to -6.00D were included under the informed consent. The eyes were divided into TransPRK group for 43 eyes and Epi-LASIK group for 33 eyes. Epithelial thickness was measured using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography at different corneal zones ( central, 2mm; paracentral, 2-5mm;and mid-peripheral, 5-6mm) preoperatively and at 1, 3, and 6mo postoperatively. The results were compared between the two groups.?RESULTS: The epithelium were thicker at 3 and 6mo after surgery compared to preoperative measurements in the two groups (all P<0.05).In TransPRK group, the epithelial thickness at 3 and 6mo demonstrated a negative meniscus-like lenticular pattern with lesser thickening centrally and progressively great thickening centrifugally (F3mo =-2.687,P=0.027;F6mo =-2.908,P=0.000).No statistically significant change was detected among the three zones in Epi-LASIK group (F=1.365, P=0.237). The epithelial thickness was thicker in the TransPRK group compared to the Epi-LASIK group mid-peripherally ( P<0.05) .? CONCLUSION: Significant epithelial thickening was observed after TransPRK and Epi-LASIK.It was showed a lenticular change with more thickening mid-peripherally after TransPRK than Epi -LASIK. Wound healing and inflammation may account for differences in the effect on epithelial thickness change by both surgeries.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2005;21(1):6-11
Xylanase can hydrolyze xylans into xylooligosaccharides and D-xylose, and has great prospect for applications in feed industry, paper and pulp industry, food industry and environment science. The study of xylanase had been started in 1960's. With the development and application of the new technologies, such as molecular biology, structural biology and protein engineering, many progresses have been made in the research of structures and functions of xylanase. This paper reviews the research progress and trend in the structure correlating with the important properties of xylanase. Analyses of three-dimensional structures and properties of mutants have revealed that glutamine and aspartic acid residues are involved in the catalytic mechanism. The thermostability of xylanase correlated with many factors, such as disulfide bridges, salt bridges, aromatic interactions, cotent of arginine and proline, and some multidomain xylanase have thermostability domains in N or C terminal. But no single mechanism is responsible for the remarkable stability of xylanase. The isoelectic points and reaction pH of xylanase are influenced by hydrophobicity and content of electric charges. Many researches had demonstrated that aromatic amino acid, histidine, and tryptophan play an important role in improving enzyme-substrate affinity. The researches of structures and functions of xylanase are of great significance in understanding the catalytic mechanism and directing the improvement of xylanase properties to meet the application requirement.

OBJECTIVETo investigate characteristics of treating dislocation and fracture of sacroiliac joint through anterior and posterior approaches.
METHODSBetween January 2006 and September 2012, 39 patients with dislocations and fractures of sacroiliac joint were treated with operation. There were 28 males and 11 females, aged 12 to 64 (mean, 41.3) years old. Seventeen cases were chosen through anterior approach, 13 cases through posterior and 9 cases were combined with anterior and posterior approaches. The anterior approach were made with supine position, performed open reduction, and two plates with 4 holes were used as internal fixation for arthrodesis of sacroiliac joint after reduction; while posterior approach prone position, close or open reduction was performed, and one or two partial thread lag screws, which with 7.3 mm in diameter and 60 to 75 mm in length, were penetrated via sacroiliac joint for fixation under X-ray. Postoperative complications were observed, Matta and Majeed scoring were used to evaluated currative effects.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 6 to 36 months. The patient could sit on the bed 2 to 4 weeks after surgery and walk with a crane 6 weeks' later. No breakage or loosening of screw occurred during follow-up. In all but one case with old sacral iliac fractures reducted poor, others obtained good opposition. According to Matta's criteria, 30 cases got excellent results, 8 good and 1 fair. According to Majeed's funtional standard, 14 patients got excellent results, 20 good 4 fair and 1 poor.
CONCLUSIONTreating dislocation and fracture of sacroiliac joint through anterior and posterior approaches can obtain good effects. However, anatomic location, fracture types, degree of displacement, the rate of preoperational reduction, vulnerability assessment of operation and fixation strength should be considered.

Acta Academiae Medicinae Sinicae 2002;24(4):401-408
Since 1959 the investigations on prevalence of hypertension and studies on the prevention and treatment of this disease have been carried out. The vascular mechanism of hypertension and the depressor effect of Chinese traditional herbs were also studied in Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. The results revealed that: (1) The prevalence of hypertension in Chinese adults increased from 7.73% in 1979 to 11.26% in 1991, both much higher than that in 1959 (5.11%). The rate of awareness, treatment and control was only 26.3%, 12.1%, and 2.8% respectively. The risk factors of hypertension included overweight and alcohol drinking. High sodium, low potassium, low calcium, and low animal protein diet were also very important risk for elevation of blood pressure. Hypertension was the most important causal risk factor of coronary heart disease and stroke. (2) Hypertension diagnosis and staging criteria were established in 1959. Secondary hypertension was found to constitute 1.1% among community hypertensive patients. The new concept of aortitis was formed and found to be the most common cause of renal vascular hypertension. Patient education together with low dose compounds of antihypertensive drugs was implicated widely. Randomized clinical trials Syst-China, Post-stroke Antihypertensive Treatment Study, Chinese Acute Stroke Trial, and Chinese Cardiac Study 1 demonstrated benefits of treatment for hypertensive, stroke or acute myocardial infarction affordable by Chinese population at large. (3) A series of functional changes and abnormalities with evident hereditary characteristics were found in the processes of cellular Ca2+ transportation, utilization, metabolism and their modulation of the vascular smooth muscle in SHR, and SHRsp, which seem to be the principal cause of the increase in peripheral vascular resistance in hypertension. (4) Alkaloid of Rauwolfia verticilata and Ligustrazine had marked depressor effect. Flavones of Radix Pueraricae could reduce the cardiac and cerebral ischemic damage and symptoms in hypertensive patients.
