ObjectiveTo explore the relation between personality and depression in elderly,particularly to investigate mediating effect of positive psychological resource.MethodsThe eysenck personality questionaire-revised short scale for Chinese(EPQ-RSC),self-rating depression scale(SDS) and scales for positive psychological resource were performed by 270 elderly in community of Tianjin.Then correlation analysis,regression analysis and path analysis were accomplished to explore association between those variables.Results Neuroticism and Psychoticism personality correlate positively with depression ( r=0.45,0.48) and contribute about 30％ variance of it (F=49.95 ).Positive psychological resource such as optimism,resilience and self-efficacy correlated negatively with depression ( r =- 0.41,- 0.39,- 0.20 ) and contributed 19％ variance of it (F =30.02 ).The results of path analysis showed positive psychological resource mediated the relation between personality and depression also.ConclusionNeuroticism and Psychoticism are important risk factors of depression in elderly.Positive psychological resource such as optimism,resilience and self-efficacy are key protecting factors for depression and they mediate the relation between vulnerable personality and depression.

AIM:To study characteristic components and fingerprint of the essential oils of processed Rhizoma curcumae longae,and further use as one of evaluation of quality control. METHODS:The essential oils were ex-tracted by steam distillation from ten batches of samples,and the characteristic components of the essential oils were analysed by GC-MS. And then mutual fingerprint of the characteristic components was established by Microsoft Office Excel 2003. RESULTS:Twenty-seven characteristic components of essential oil consisted of Ar-turmerone,Tumerone,Curlone,?-Curcumene,?-Zingiberene,?-Sesquiphellandrene and their derivatives,which were compose of about 88. 8% ～94. 9% of the total essential oil. The retention time and peak area of the components appeared the characteristic fingerprint. CONCLUSION:The method and the fingerprint have a good reproducibility,and can be used to identify and evaluate the quality of processed Rhizome curcumae longae.

Liver blood flow was measured in normal & CCl4-intoxicated mice & rats, using the electrolysis-generated hydrogen gas method. The results showed that the intramuscular injection of 6-15/kg of ISM increased significantly the liver blood flow in normal mice & rats. In acute or chronic CCl4-intoxicated mice & rats, the liver blood was decreased but the blood flow was restored the normal level by the ISM. In addition, the protective effect against liver injury was also observed by the histological examination & electron micrographs.The above results suggest that the protective effect of ISM against CCl4-induced liver injury seems to be through increasing the liver blood flow, improving liver's microcirculation & preventing or mitgating the denaturing or necrosis of liver cells.

Objective To evaluate the effects of moderate oxygen concentration (40％ O2) on A549 cells and expression of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) mRNA and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) mRNA in A549 cells.Methods Cultured A549 cells were seeded in 6-well plates (1 mYhole) or in 10 cm diameter dishes (5 ml/dish) with the density of 1 × 1O5 cells/ml and randomly divided into 3 groups (n =12 each) using a random number table:control group (group C),40％ oxygen concentration group (group 40％ O2),and 95％ oxygen concentration group (group 95 ％ O2).A549 cells were exposed to air,40 ％ O2 and 95 ％ O2 for 48 h in C,40％ O2 and 95％ O2 groups,respectively.The necrosis and expression of TGF-β1 mRNA and CTGF mRNA were detected at the end of culture.Results Compared with group C,the necrosis rate was significantly increased,while the expression of TGF-β1 mRNA and CTGF mRNA was up-regulated in 40％ O2 and 95％ O2 groups (P ＜ 0.05).Compared with group 95 ％ O2,the necrosis rate was significantly decreased,while the expression of TGF-β1 mRNA was down-regulated (P ＜ 0.05),and there was no significant difference in CTGF mRNA expression in group 40 ％ O2 (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion Exposure to moderate oxygen concentration for a certain time can induce damage to A549 cells,but the severity is lighter than that caused by high oxygen concentration,and up-regulation of TGF-β1 and CTGF gene expression may be involved in the mechanism.

Objective To gain more pathophysiolgic knowledge about acute obstructive hydrocephalus and to explore its rapid and effective treatment by establishing canine acute obstructive hydrocephalus model.Methods Acute obstructive hydrocephalus model was established by injecting cyan-acrylic gel glue into the fourth ventricle via posterior fosse craniotomy in 9 male adult mongrel dogs.At the same time,lateral ventricle catheterization were performed and were fixed on the scalp to connect reservoir bag so that the changes of intracranial pressure (ICP) could be measured dynamically,and the changes of neurological function were observed.Results Acute obstructive hydrocephalus model was successfully established in 6 of the total 9dogs.ICP was (48.2 ± 6.1 ) cm H2 O at 48 hours after the injection and was (56.4 ± 5.7 ) cm H2 O at 72 hours after the injection,it increased 392％ and 459 ％ respectively.And the ICP after injection was significantly different(P ＜ 0.01 )compared with that before injection (12.3 ± 3.1 )cm H2O.Conclusion The establishment of acute obstructive hydrocephalus model has high success rate,and is easy to reduplicate; ICP could be measured dynamically and also could be reduced by releasing CSF;Thus,ventricular drainage is the most rapid and effective treatment for acute obstructive hydrocephalus.

Objective To observe the clinical effect ofHuangkui capsule combined with benzbromarone on the treatment of the patients with chronic uric acid nephropathy (CUAN).Methods A total of 60 patients were recruited and divided into the treatment group and the control group by using the random number table method, each group 30 patients. Two groups were treated with conventional treatment, such as low purine, low protein diet, quit smoking and drinking extra water. The control group was added with oral benzbromarone, and the treatment group was added with oralHuangkui capsule. All the treatments last 8 weeks. Theblood uric acid (BUA), serum creatinine (SCr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), cystatin C (Cys-C), SOD, 24-hour urinary protein quantity and Urinary sediment red blood cell count were detected by the automatic biochemical analyser.The clinical effect was evaluated by the Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) quality of life questionnaire.Results Compared with the control group, the total effective rate in the treatment group was 86.64% (26/30), which was significantly higher than that of 63.33% (19/30) in the control group (χ2=7.264, P=0.001). After treatment, the BUA (273.52 ± 110.37μmol/Lvs. 331.28 ± 126.54μmol/L,Z=-2.543), BUN (6.24 ± 1.23 mol/Lvs. 8.16 ± 2.35 mol/L,Z=-2.680), SCr (90.37 ± 20.16μmol/Lvs. 110.38 ± 16.72μmol/L,Z=-2.534), Cys C (0.86 ± 0.51 vs. 1.03 ± 0.10,Z=-2.372) in the treatment group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.01); SOD (156.37 ± 32.04μmol/Lvs. 43.36 ± 31.52μmol/L,Z=-2.041) in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01); the 24 hours urinary protein (439.86 ± 250.41 mg/24hvs.897.69 ± 213.37 mg/24h,Z=-2.853), urine sediment RBC counts (50.31 ± 14.06 points/μlvs.213.47 ± 38.46 points/μl, Z=-2.106) in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.01); the physiological function(43.14 ± 2.06 pointsvs.36.48 ± 3.21 points,Z=10.362), the psychological function (40.76 ± 3.28 points vs. 16.54 ± 3.71 points,Z=9.547), social function (40.74 ± 3.58 points vs. 33.04 ± 5.48 points,Z=6.034), healthy self-awareness (24.57 ± 1.97 points vs. 22.63 ± 3.43 points,Z=4.236) and total score (127.38 ± 6.43 points vs. 107.69 ± 13.57 points,Z=6.754) in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.01) . Conclusions TheHuangkui capsule combined with benzbromarone could reduce CUAN patient's blood uric acid levels, protect renal function, and improve the quality of life.

The invasion and metastasis of tumor as the primary cause of death in cancer increases not only the patient's suffering, but also the difficulty of clinical treatment. It is an important guiding to find the molecular biological tumor markers and gene targets of antirecurrence and antimetastasis for clinical treatment. The invasion and metastasis of tumor is a complex process including the biological characteristics of the cancer, interaction among host cells, extracellular matrix and cancer cells, etc. Recently, epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) is becoming a hot spot in oncology research by virtue of its effect on genesis and development of tumor. Currently, the known markers of EMT include epithelial marker proteins mainly containing E-cadherin and interstitial marker proteins mainly containing N-cadherin and vimentin. It is necessary to make a summary among the studies on three proteins.

Objective To analyze the contemporary TCM academic team of lung cancer, summarizes its main academic thoughts. Methods To represent characters, important documents, and the main academic ideas as the basis of a team. From the perspective of the literature, literature of Chinese medicine against lung cancer, adopt the method of literature metrology, and social network analysis the candidate teams were found;the method of literature investigation evaluation candidate team heritage was adopted, the main academic thoughts from each team representative was summarized. Results A total of 8 441 researchers published 5 030 papers about treatment of lung cancer with TCM. 91 researchers with large amount papers and seven academic team were found. Conclusion Chinese medicine treatment of lung cancer made a great progress in the contemporary, team enriched the TCM system of principle, method, square, medicine.
