Objective To study the inhibitory effects of Probucol on the expressions of serum promatrix metalloproteinase-2(pro-MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods The levels of serum Pro-MMP-2 and MMP-2 were detected by zymograph and total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)were measured by enzyme method in 30 CHD patients before and after treatment with Probucol.Results After treatment of Probucol,the expression levels of pro-MMP-2,MMP-2,TC and LDL-C in serum were decreased than those before treatment,respectively;there were obvious differences of various indexes mentioned above between before and after treatment(P0.05).Conclusion Probucol can inhibit the expressions of pro-MMP-2 and MMP-2 in serum as same as TC and LDL-C.Probucol,as one of TIMPs,may be applied to stabilize plaque..

AIM: To explore the histopathologic changes of Reis-Bücklers corneal dystrophy ( RBCD) . · METHODS: Cornea buttons were obtained from patients in 1 pedigree who underwent lamella keratoplasty. Sections with HE and special staining which included symplectic blue staining and Masson staining and Congo red staining were observed under light microscope. Two normal cornea specimens ( donated corneas from eye bank) were used as control. ·RESULTS:In those patients, the bowman's membrane disappeared. The main lesion was in bowman's membrane through HE staining, positive through PAS Congo red staining and Masson staining, negative through symplectic blue staining. ·CONCLUSION: The Reis-Bücklers corneal dystrophy is characterized as geographic map-like lesion of bowman's membrane, and the abnormal extracellular deposit is amyloid protein fiber.

Objective To observe the effects of berberine on ICAM-1, VCAM-1 expression and inflammatory cells exudation in mice with viral pneumonia caused by influenza virus, and explore its anti-injury effect. Methods Totally 108 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group, model group, and berberine group. 25 μL 50 LD50 influenza virus, mouse lung-adapted strain, was intranasally inoculated to model group and berberine group. 1 h after infection, control and model group were intragastrically given 25 μL distilled water, berberine group was treated by intraperitoneal injection with berberine at a dose of 0.005 g/(kg·d) for 5 days, twice per day. On day 2, 4 and 6 after infection, immunocytochemical method was used to detect ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression, and sorting cell count of leukocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were counted. Results The expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in model group increased obviously on day 2, 4, 6, and which in berberine group decreased compared with model group (P<0.01). WBC, mononuclear cell, eosinophile cell and neutrophil cell number in model group increased significantly. WBC and neutrophil cell number decreased in berberine group on day 6 (P<0.01), and the mononuclear cell number decreased on day 4 (P<0.01). Conclusion Berberine inhibited the expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1, and decreased the inflammatory cells exudation in lung of mice with viral pneumonia caused by influenza virus. Berberine has protective effect on inflammatory injury of lung tissue in mice with viral pneumonia caused by influenza virus.

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of low molecular weight heparin calcium in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease combined with pulmonary heart disease.MethodsA total of 64 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease combined with pulmonary heart disease from December 2008 to December 2010 were enrolled in this study and divided into treatment group and control group by random digits table with 32 cases each.The control group was given routine treatment and the treatment group was given low molecular weight heparin calcium for 7 days at the basis of routine treatment.ResultsThe total effective rate in treatment group[ 90.6％ (29/32) ] was significantly higher than that in control group [ 68.8％ (22/32) ] (P ＜ 0.05 ).In treatment group,the levels of arterial carbon dioxide tension (PaCO2) and arterial oxygen tension (PaO2) after treatment [(54.64±9.63),(74.21 ± 11.76) mm Hg (1 mm Hg =0.133 kPa)] were significantly decreased compared with before treatment [(78.66 ± 11.22),(53.42 ± 8.84 ) mm Hg ] (P ＜ 0.01 ).In control group,the levels of PaCO2 and PaO2 after treatment [ (61.10 ±7.24),(65.07 ± 8.21 ) mm Hg] were significantly decreased compared with before treatment[ (79.52 ± 12.54),(51.35 ± 7.31 ) mm Hg ] (P ＜ 0.05 ).After treatment the levels of PaCO2 and PaO2 in treatment group were better than those in control group (P ＜ 0.05).ConclusionsThe low molecular weight heparin calcium in treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease combined with pulmonary heart disease can effectively improve the clinical manifestation.It is worth the clinical promoted application.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) with percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF) by systematic review. Methods From September 2005 to March 2009,46 cases of fresh OVCF were treated. Patients were divided into 2 groups (A, B), according to Jikei grade, Genant semiquantitative method, injury vertebra number. Twenty-five cases(group A)were treated by PVP,8 males and 17 females with the age of 52 - 78 years (average 69). Vertebra segment of fracture was within T6 - L5 (14 in case thoracical vertebrae and 11 lumbar vertebrae). Twenty-one cases(group B)were treated by PKP,There were 6 males and 15 females with the age of 54 - 82 years (average 71). Vertebra segment of fracture was within T6 - L4 (12 in case thoracical vertebrae and 9 lumbar vertebrae). The clinical efficacy, incidence rate of complication, the anterior height of vertebrae body,visual analogue pain scale(VAS) ,ease of pain were measured preoperatively and at 6 weeks, 3 and 6 months and 1 year postoperatively between the two groups. Results All the patients were followed up for 12 -45 months with an average of 23.5 months. The average recovery of anterior height of vertebrae body was respectively(85.95 ± 4.31) % in group A and (93.64 ± 3.35) % in group B,which statistically difference in vertebral height between two groups (P ＜ 0.05). No statistical significant difference was seen in VAS, analgesic durg (AID) and ease of pain complication between two groups (P ＞0. 05). Statistical significant difference was noted in pre-postoperatively between intra-two groups (P ＜0. 05). Conclusions PVP and PKP can quickly relieve pain and enhance vertebral stability in treating thoracolumbar OVCF according to evaluation parameter, and have the similar therapeutic efficacy in treatment of OVCF with minimal invasion. However, PKP is superior in the recovery of vertebral height.

Objective To conclude the diagnostic methodology of unroofed coronary sinus (UCS) by two-dimensional echocardiography(2DE). Methods By analyzing the echocardiographic results of 16 UCS patients who were diagnosed by 2DE and confirmed by operation, the diagnostic methodology of UCS by 2DE was summarized. Results Sixteen patients with UCS were involved in this study. Among them, 12 cases were diagnosed as complete UCS,others were partial UCS(PUCS). Twelve patients were complicated with persistence of left superior vena cava (LSVC) that was connected to left atrium (LA) through UCS. All of preoperative diagnosis conducted by 2DE were finally confirmed to be consistent with the results of operation. With the analysis of acquired echo images,key points of diagnosis were concluded as follow: 1) normal coronary sinus (CS) could not be detected in the routine 2DE views referring CS. PUCS showed partial absence of CS roof,while complete UCS displayed as total absence of CS. 2)Inter-atrial shunt would definitely be found in UCS and the opening to right atrium must be coronary sinus orifice. The shunt direction was depended on the combined cardiac malformations. 3) With the occurrence of UCS,LSVC would be in junction with LA through UCS. 4) The inter-atrial shunt resulted in cardiac morphologic and hemodynamic changes. Conclusions Better understanding of the anatomic, morphological and hemodynamic characteristics of UCS would greatly contribute to accurate diagnosis on UCS.

Objective To determine whether strain and strain rate derived from velocity vector imaging ( VVI) allowed assessment of regional and global right ventricular ( RV) dysfunction and intra‐and inter‐ventricular dyssynchrony in patients with pulmonary hypertension ( PHTN) . Methods Ninety‐nine patients were enrolled , including 35 controls and 64 PHTN patients . All participants underwent echocardiography examinations and off line strain/strain rate analysis . Bi‐ventricular regional peak systolic strain ,strain rate ,and the time‐to‐peak systolic variables were measured at the RV free wall ,inter‐ventricular septum ,and LV lateral wall in apical four chamber views . Standard deviations of the time‐to‐peak systolic strain (SD‐Ts) and strain rate (SD‐Tsr) at six RV and three left ventricular (LV) segments were calculated to define intra‐and inter‐ventricular dyssynchrony . Results Compared with the controls , segmental and global peak systolic strain and strain rate decreased in the PHTN patients . And intra‐right ventricular dyssynchrony was present in the PHTN patients [SD‐Ts:(28 ± 20)ms in controls vs (61 ± 62) ms in patients , P = 0 .003 ] . The difference between the time‐to‐peak systolic strain rate at the basal segment of RV free wall and LV lateral wall indicated earlier RV free wall contraction in PHTN patients , relativetoLVlateralwall,particularlyinthoseseverePHTNpatients[(13±13)msincontrolsvs( -49± 14) ms in patients , P < 0 .01] . Conclusions PHTN impairs RV myocardial contraction and induces to ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony .VVI could monitor RV function during the treatment of PHTN .

AIM:To construct the adenovirus vector with adiponectin (Acrp30) siRNA, and to observe its effect on the Acrp30 expression and glucose transport in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. METHODS: Mouse Acrp30 siRNA fragment was designed, synthesized and cloned into the adenovirus vector. 3T3-L1 cells were infected with the two recombinant adenoviruses, respectively. The mRNA expression and protein levels of Acrp30 in these cells were evaluated by RT-PCR and ELISA. Glucose transport was measured by 2-Deoxy-[3H]-D-glucose incorporation method. RESULTS: The recombinant adenoviruses were successfully constructed. Objective To analyze the clinical data of patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCCA),and to compare the therapeutic effects of different methods on treating these patients.Methods The clinical data of 101 patients with HCCA in China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University were analyzed.Results The overall 1-year and 2-year survival rates in the radical operation group were 95.5％ and 40.9％,respectively.There was a significant difference between the radical operation group and the palliative resection group (P ＜ 0.05).The overall 1-year and 2-year survival rates in the palliative resection group were 75.0％ and 16.7％,respectively,which were much better than those in patients treated with PTCD,biliary stent on open abdominal biliary drainage (P ＜ 0.05).There were no significant differences among the PTCD,biliary stent and open abdominal biliary drainage groups (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Radical HCCA resection is still the best and the first choice treatment for patients with HCCA.The therapeutic effects of radical operation were much better than those of palliative resection,biliary stent,PTCD and open abdominal biliary drainage.
