3.Diagnosis and Treatment for Simple Obesity in Childhood
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(11):-
There is no unity in judgment of obesity at home and abroad.WHO considered that there should have different evaluation criteria from childhood below and above 10 years and recommended "weight for height" be used for children under the age of 10 and body mass index(BMI)for children aged 10 to 24 years old.International Obesity Task Organization(IOTF) recommended BMI be suitable for young children for judgment overweight and obesity. Both of them had the same BMI standards for overweight and obesity for 18-year-old,25 and 30 kg/m2,respectively.But the Working Group on Obesity of China(WGOC)developed a criterion which cut-offs in 18 years were lower than that of WHO and IOTF,24 and 28 kg/m2,respectively.The treatment of obesity in childhood was different from that in adults. Many methods used for adults such as surgical liposuction, slimming drugs, hunger therapies and fasting could not be appropriate for childhood.A combined treatment in childhood including behavior modification, diet adjustment and exercise was recognized domestically and internationally.
4.Uterine natural killer cells and pregnancy
Journal of Chinese Physician 2016;18(9):1429-1431
Uterine natural killer cells (uNK) are distinct from peripheral blood NK (pbNK) cells, which constitute up to 70% of the decidual leukocyte population in the first half of pregnancy, and are considered to have a cytokine-secreting role rather than cytotoxic function. It plays an important role in trophoblast invasion and uterine spiral artery remodeling. As a result of imbalance of uNK cells, pathological pregnancy appeared.Herein, the origin of uNK cells and its function in pregnancy were veviewed.
5. Effects of insulin-like growth factor-1 on cystationine-β-synthase and hydrogen sulfide in PC12 cells
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;31(12):1296-1299
Objective: To investigate the effect of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) on expression of cystationine-β-synthase (CBS) and hydrogen sulfide(H2S) in rat adrenal pheochromocytoma cell line (PC12) and the possible signaling pathway. Methods: After PC12 cells were treated with 20,40, or 80 ng/ml IGF-1 for 24 h, fluorecence quantitative PCR was used to examined the expression of CBS gene, Western blotting analysis was used to detect the expression of CBS,ERK/MAPK protein expression, and sensitive sulphur electrode was used to analyze the levels of H2S gas. For inhibition studies, 25 or 50 mol/L PD98059, a specific ERK/MAPK inhibitor, was used 30 min prior to 80 ng/ml IGF-1 treatment: and the above parameters were examined again using the same method. Results: IGF-1 increased the expression of CBS, pERK1/2, and the levels of H2S; and PD98059 could inhibit the above effect of IGF-1. Conclusion: IGF-1 and its ERK/MAPK signaling pathway regulate the expression of CBS and levels of H2S.

Objective:To determine the characteristics and differences in bleomycin-induced lung ifbrosis model by repeated low-dose intravenous injection and single dose intratracheal instillation of bleomycin.
Methods:Forty male ICR (Institute for Cancer Research) mice were randomly divided into a model group I, a model group II, and 2 control groups (10 mice in each group). In model group I, bleomycin was injected intravenously at 10 mg/(kg·d) for 14 consecutive days;and in model group II, bleomycin was instilled intratracheally at 5 mg/kg. The 2 control groups were given isotonic saline solution. At the 28th day, the mice were sacrificed and the bronchoalveolar lavage lfuid (BALF) was collected. The total cells and proteins in the BALF, pulmonary coeffcient, and hydroxyproline (HYP) content were determined. The pathological changes were observed by the eosin staining and Masson's trichrome staining.
Results:1) Both intravenous injection and intratracheal instillation of bleomycin resulted in severe and extensive inlfammation and ifbrosis in the lungs. The total cells and proteins in the BALF, HYP content, pulmonary coeffcient and the pathological score of pulmonary ifbrosis were all signiifcantly increased in the 2 model groups (P<0.01). 2) Fibrosis was mainly under the pleura or around the vessel in model group I, and it was located near the bronehia and bronchioles in model group II. 3) The death rate was higher in the model group II than that in the model group I. 4) Proteins in the BALF were significantly higher in model group II than that in model group I (P<0.05). There was no difference in the total cells in the BALF, the pulmonary coefficient, the HYP content, and the pathological score of pulmonary ifbrosis between the 2 groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion:The pulmonary fibrosis model can be successfully established by intravenous injection or intratracheal instillation of bleomycin, but the sites of pulmonary ifbrosis are different. The histological changes caused by the repeated low-dose intravenous injection of bleomycin is more similar to idiopathic pulmonary ifbrosis than that by the single dose intratracheal instillation.
