The gamma-cyclodextrin-folate (gamma-CD/FA) inclusion-coated CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) with folate-receptor (FR) targeted were synthesized by simple and convenient sonochemical method. The products were studied using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), utraviolet-visible spectrometry (UV-vis), fluorescence spectrum and transmission electron micrographs (TEM). The results showed that the gamma-CD/FA-coated CdSe/ZnS QDs not only have good monodispersity and smaller size, but also have good optical performance, such as higher quantum yield (QY) and a long fluorescence lifetime. The cytotoxicity experiments showed that the gamma-CD/FA-coated CdSe/ZnS QDs have lower cytotoxicity and could more effectively enter cancer cells with FR over-expression. The QDs with 4-5 nm in diameter were relatively easy to enter the cell and to be removed through kidneys, so it is more suitable for biomedical applications for bioprobes and bioimaging.

Objective To understand the level of clinical first aid ability of nurses in non-emergency department of third-class general hospitals of Taiyuan City, and to provide theoretical basis for effective intervention of nursing managers. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 1008 nurses in 5 third-class general hospitals in Taiyuan city. Results The total score of clinical first aid ability of the non-emergency department nurses in 5 third-class general hospitals of Taiyuan was (121.29 ± 12.19) points. There were significant differences in scores of different age, education, nursing age, grade, title and departmental nurses (F=25.584-128.611, P<0.01). There was only a difference in the theoretical knowledge reserve in different department (F=3.589, P<0.05). The effect of the first aid ability on the emergency first aid ability of the non-emergency department nurses was the energy level, the education degree and the first aid ability of the nurses are increasing with the education level and the energy level. Conclusions In clinical work, nursing managers should pay attention to the development of first aid ability of low-grade and low-educated nurses in non-emergency department, and can carry out the training for first aid and comprehensive ability by situation simulation, emergency plan exercise, process management and so on.

Objective To investigate the underlying neural mechanism of left hemiparalexia and left hemialexia in reading Chinese characters. Methods A patient with reading disorders caused by brain infarctions at the left ventralis medialis occipitotemporal lobe and the splenium of the corpus callosum was studied. A series of neuropsychological tests, such as reading Chinese characters presented in the central foveal field or in the left and right half of the foveal field, were conducted with the patient, and neuroimaging techniques including high spatial resolution 3D-MRI and diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) were used to examine whether or not there were lesions of the neural pathway. Results The patient showed left hemiparalexia, which was characterized by making substitution or omission mistakes, mostly in the left parts of Chinese characters, and also left hemialexia(alexia for characters presented in left visual field). 3D-MRI demonstrated infarctions in the left ventral mesial occipitotemporal area and in the left side of the splenium of the corpus callosum. The left lateral mid-fusiform cortex, which has been identified as the visual word form area(VWFA), was almost intact. DTT indicated the major forceps fibers running through the splenium were all disconnected due to the infarction of the left splenium. Conclusion As a result of disruption of the splemium-major forceps pathway, visual character information in the left visual field which is initially projected to the right occipital cortex cannot be transferred from the right visual cortex to the left VWFA. This mechanism of left hemiparalexia and left hemialexia in reading Chinese characters is similar to that in reading English words.

Objective To explore the effect of 20°trendelenburg position on hemodynamics during induction of general anesthesia of patients under gastrectomy. Methods One hundred and eighteen patients (77 males and 41 females, aged 50-60 years,ASA physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ),scheduled for elective radical gastrectomy, were randomly divided into group A (n=40),group B (n=38) and group C (n=40).In group A,patients were placed in the supine position during induction of anesthesia, and vasopressors was administered when hypotension occurred. In group B,patients were placed in the supine position during induction of anesthesia and was placed in the 20°trendelenburg position when hypotension occurred, and vasopressor would be administered if blood pressure was not restored. In group C,patients were placed in the 20°trendelenburg position during induction of anesthesia, and vasopressors was administered when hypotension occurred. In all groups Lactated Ringer′s was infused at 15 ml·kg-1·h-1in 30 min before induction.Anesthesia was induced with propofol 2 mg/kg,sufentanil 0.5 μg/kg,rocuronium 0.9 mg/kg.The occurrence of hypotension and the total amounts of drug administrations were doccumented. Results Nineteen patients (47.5%) in group A,fourteen patients (36.8%) in group B and six patients (15.0%) in group C developed hypotention. The incidence of hypotension in group A and B was significantly higher than that in group C (P<0.05).In all groups the total dosage of ephedrine was used.Phenylephine was only used in the group A at a dose of 26.5±0.14 μg.The amounts of drug administrations in group B and C were significantly lower than that in group A (P<0.05).Two patients in group A went into a refractory hypotensive state. However,no patients in all groups fell into a serious arrhythmia state,so atropine was not used. Conclusion The 20°trendelenburg position during induction of general anesthesia of patients during gastrectomy can prevent hypotension during induction. This position is effective in the management of hypotension after the induction of general anesthesia and can decrease the amounts of drug administrations during induction of general anesthesia.
6.Co-evolution of plant LTR-retrotransposons and their host genomes.
Protein & Cell 2013;4(7):493-501
Transposable elements (TEs), particularly, long terminal repeat retrotransposons (LTR-RTs), are the most abundant DNA components in all plant species that have been investigated, and are largely responsible for plant genome size variation. Although plant genomes have experienced periodic proliferation and/or recent burst of LTR-retrotransposons, the majority of LTR-RTs are inactivated by DNA methylation and small RNA-mediated silencing mechanisms, and/or were deleted/truncated by unequal homologous recombination and illegitimate recombination, as suppression mechanisms that counteract genome expansion caused by LTR-RT amplification. LTR-RT DNA is generally enriched in pericentromeric regions of the host genomes, which appears to be the outcomes of preferential insertions of LTR-RTs in these regions and low effectiveness of selection that purges LTR-RT DNA from these regions relative to chromosomal arms. Potential functions of various TEs in their host genomes remain blurry; nevertheless, LTR-RTs have been recognized to play important roles in maintaining chromatin structures and centromere functions and regulation of gene expressions in their host genomes.
