Objective To study occupational hazards effects of electric welding, and evaluate protective measurements for different occupational hazards. Methods During 2008,occupational health services for 11 factories with shield carbon-dioxide arc welding work were provided, including surveillance of the work environment and surveillance of workers’health. Surveys of workers’health through various types of health examinations were carried out. Four hundred and thirty-three welding workers of 11 factories were included. Results The concentrations of 17 welding fume samples and 6 manganese dioxide samples were over the released limits of national standard, the maximum was 5.5,1.6 times of the limit respectively. The exceeding standard rate. of welding fume had positive correlation with the density of welding equipment(r= 0.72,P=0.01) and negative correlation with the ventilation area(r =-0.63,P =0.04) .The examination results showed that nobody suffered occupational diseases or occupational contraindications. Conclusion For the environmental risk factors existed in the electric welding operation site, more attention should be paid to the potentially occupational adverse effects of electric welding.

Objectives To investigate the dynamic change of galectin-1 in myocardium of mice with viral myocarditis (VMC). Methods A total of 58 male BALB/c mice were selected and randomly divided into CVB3 group (n=50) and control group (n=8). Mice in CVB3 group were infected with 0.10 ml 10-5/L CVB3 through intraperitoneal inoculation, and 8 mice were killed on day 7, 10, 14 and 28 respectively after inoculation. Mice in control group inoculated with 0.10 ml eagle reagent was killed on day 28. The myocardial pathological changes were observed using light microscope. In addition, expressions of serum galectin-1 were detected by ELISA and expressions of myocardial galectin-1 were detected by real-time quantitative-polymerase chain reaction (RQ-PCR). Results Compared with control group, the myocardial expression of galectin-1 mRNA in CVB3 group was obviously increased on day 7 and day 10 (all P<0.05);the serum concentration of galectin-1 in CVB3 group was obviously increased on day 7, day 10 and day 14 (all P<0.05). Conclusion The expressions of galectin-1 in myocardium of mice with viral myocarditis were in dynamic changes. Galectin-1 may play a role in the pathogenesis and development of viral myocarditis.

A simple preparative strategy was proposed for the preparation of water-soluble, bright blue-emitting carbon nanoparticles ( CNPs ) at different temperatures by hydrothermal treatment using bean curd residue as carbon source for the first time. When the temperature reaches 240 ℃, quantum yield ( QY) can be up to 15. 24%. Most importantly, such fluorescent CNPs can be served as an effective sensing platform for label-free sensitive and selective detection of Fe3+ions with a detection of limit as low as 50 nmol/L, which is nearly 2 orders of magnitude lower than the maximum level of Fe3+ions in the drinking water permitted by the European Community. These outstanding properties give promising potential for reliable detection of Fe3+ in intracellular fluid and water samples, even bioimaging and optical imaging without being hazard in the future.

Objective: To evaluate the cytotoxicity and targeting ability of self-developed paclitaxel-octreotide (PTX-OCT) conjugates on A549 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells and Calu-6 NSCLC cells. Methods: Conjugates PTX-OCT and 2PTX-OCT were synthesized by our school. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used to detect mRNA of human somatostatin receptor subtypes (SSTRs) using specific primers. The cells were treated with different concentrations (1, 100 nmol/L and 1 ?mol/L) of paclitaxel and the conjugates for different time periods (24-72 h); we also set up a control group. MTT assay was used to evaluate the cell viability after treatment; cell cycle perturbations were determined by FAC Scan flow cytometer 24 h after treatment with 1 ?mol/L paclitaxel, PTX-OCT, and 2PTX-OCT. Results: Both A549 cell and Calu-6 cell expressed the mRNA of SSTR2 and SSTR5; no SSTR mRNA was detected in the fibroblasts. The conjugates had a similar cytotoxicity to paclitaxel; they both effectively inhibited the growth of A549 cells and Calu-6 cells in a concentration-and time-dependent manner. After 72 h treatment with 1 ?mol/L paclitaxel, PTX-OCT and 2PTX-OCT, the survival rates of A549 cells were (26.9?7.3)%, (26.6?9.2)% and (35.7?4.3)%, respectively; the survival rates of Calu-6 cells were (29.5?5.0)%, (28.2?9.7)% and (26.5?4.9)%, respectively. The survival rate A549 cells at 72 h after treatment was lower than that at 24 h after treatment(P
