4.Progress of study on neuritin.
Acta Physiologica Sinica 2013;65(5):483-488
Neuritin is a new member of the neurotrophic factor family, whose gene is named cpg15 (candidate plasticity-related gene 15) and can be activated by neural activity or neurotrophins (NTs). Experiments show that neuritin is able to promote the growth and branching of neurites, and plays an important role in neuronal plasticity and neuronal regeneration. Recent studies have proved that neuritin is not only involved in the regulation of various physiological functions in the nervous system, but also related in angiogenesis and tumorigenesis. Here we review the mechanisms involved in cpg15 expression and regulation, biological effects of neuritin, and how neuritin plays its biological activities. The hot issues and difficulties in the study of neuritin are also discussed.

Objective To investigate the value of cytokinesis-block micronuclei(CBMN)assay in estimation of the biological doses of the victims of radiation accident. Methods Samples of peripheral blood were collected from the 5 victims(Subjects 1-5)at 16 h after the radiation accident of Taiyuan,Shanxi Province. And the peripheral blood samples and bone marrow sample were collected from the victim No.1 at 23 and 24 h after the radiation.Eight days after the accident Subject 1 underwent allogeneic peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. At difierent time points in the period of 1 year after the accident.peripheral blood samples were collected from these 5 victims.CBMN assay was conducted on the peripheral blood lymphocytes on the samples, and the biological doses were estimated based on the micronuclei(MN)frequencies. The nuclear division index(NDI)obtained from in vitro irradiation experiment using high dose of 60Coγ-rays was used to estimate the exposed doses for Subject 1. Dynamic arialysis of the MN frequency for the 5 victims was performed in the period of 1 year after the accident. Results The MN frequency of Subject 1 surpassed the value corresponding to the upper limit of the MN dose.effective curve. The dose range estimated bv the combination of the CBMN and NDI (CBMN+NDl)assay was 10-20 Gy for Subject 1.The doses estimated by MN frequency for Subjects 2,3,4,and 5 were 3.6,2.9,2.3,and 2.9 Gy,respectively. The estimated doses were in accordance with those estimated by physicat method.chromosome aberration analysis.and clinical symptoms.Prominent decrease of the MN frequency was observed at 26 d after the accident(18 d after the transplantation)for Subject 1(u=3.295,P<0.05).Gradual decrease of MN frequency was observed after the accident for Subjects 2,3,4,and 5.The MN frequencies 1 month after the accident of Subjects 3,4,and 5 were all significantly lower than those 16 h later(u=6.874,4.526,and 7.811,P<0.05).Conclusions Quick and accurate.CBMN assay reinforces and verifies the result of chromosome aberration analysis. The new index CBMN+NDI assay is of reference valne for estimating higher dose of irradiation.

International Eye Science 2016;16(6):1183-1186
?AIM:To establish a suitable normative reference value for electroretinogram ( ERG ) testing using electroencephalogram ( EEG) skin electrodes.?METHODS: The ERG was recorded in 51 eyes ( 30 people ) who were normal after ophthalmologic examination in our department from March to September 2015 using skin electrodes and contact lens electrodes. The recorded result was reviewed and analyzed, and all the testings were recorded by the routine program.?RESULTS: The 95% confidential interval, mean or median of values was defined in amplitudes and latencies of various responses. All the amplitudes results of skin electrodes were significantly lower than those of the contact lens electrodes and the ratio ( amplitudes of skin electrodes to those of the contact lens electrodes ) was 20% to 30%. The latencies results of skin electrodes were significantly shorter than those of contact lens electrodes and the ratio was 95% to 96%.?CONCLUSION:The EEG skin electrode used for patients with low compliance may provide valuable information of retinal function.

Abstract: Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics, prevention and control strategies, measures and the effects achieved of malaria in Huangshi City from 1951 to 2021, and to offer a reference for further strengthening malaria eradication and control successes. Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to assess the prevalence, measurements, and impacts of malaria in different time periods based on data for malaria control in Huangshi City from 1951 to 2021, and we created "semi-log" line graphs and charts to display the prevalence of disease and the effort done in prior years in terms of prevention and control. Results Between 1951 and 2021, 527 780 cases of malaria were recorded in Huangshi, with an average annual incidence rate of 40.07/10 000. The prevention and control of malaria has gone through four stages, namely, the high prevalence of malaria stage (1951-1979), the basic elimination stage (1980-1999), the consolidation stage (2000-2010), and the eradication stage (2011-2021). Different strategies and measures have been adopted in different epidemic periods. During the high epidemic period, great efforts have been made to carry out general surveys and treatments, and strengthen the management of symptomatic patients; during the eradication stage, prominent and classified prevention and control strategies were adopted. When the incidence rate dropped to below 1/10 000, the main measures adopted were malaria monitoring, including timely discovery and standardization of infectious sources, disposal of epidemic points, management of migrant population malaria and vector monitoring. Through active prevention and control, remarkable results were achieved, and the incidence rate of malaria fell to below 1/10 000 in 1989, reaching the level of "basic elimination of malaria" issued by the Ministry in 1999, and passed the provincial malaria elimination acceptance in 2015. In recent years, with the increasing labor exports and foreign exchanges, imported malaria has been on the rise. African countries are the main sources of imported malaria, and the main species is P.falciparum. Conclusions Malaria was once one of the main infectious diseases endangering the health of people in Huangshi City. The preventive and control methods and procedures adopted in different epidemic periods are effective. Currently, we have entered the consolidation phase of malaria elimination, with the focus of work being to monitor, report, and timely and effectively respond to imported malaria cases, thus reducing the risk of local transmission.

Objective:To establish a method for the determination of omeprazole delayed release capsules and investigate the be-havior of reference preparations to provide experimental basis for generic drugs quality consistency evaluation. Methods:According to the first dissolution method (basket method) stated in 0. 931 of Chinese Pharmacopeia (2015 edition), the type of release media, solu-bility and stability of omeprazole in different media, effect of different treatment methods on the drug adsorption in the solution, differ-ent rotation speed and the methodology of ultraviolet spectrophotometry were investigated. Results:The rotation speed was 75 r·min-1 with the dissolution medium volume of 900 ml. The dissolution profiles of omeprazole delayed release capsules in three different media ( pH 6. 0 phosphate buffer, pH 6. 8 phosphate buffer and water containing 3% Tween-80) were determined with online filteration. The solubility of omeprazole in the different media was 0. 123, 0. 078 and 0. 275 mg·ml-1 , respectively. The results showed that ome-prazole was degraded 44%, 8% and 14% in 2 h in the above three release media, and degraded up to 43% in 6 h in water containing 3% Tween-80. The linear of omeprazole was 0. 209 4-20. 94, 0. 204 8-20. 48 and 0. 2016-20. 16 μg·ml-1 with the average recovery of 99.3% (RSD=0.7%,n=12), 99.7% (RSD=0.9%,n=12) and 99.5% (RSD=0.6%,n=12) respectively in the three media. Conclusion:The method is accurate and reliable, which can be used to study the quality consistency of omeprazole delayed re-lease capsules.

Neurology Asia 2015;20(1):15-21
The ABCD2
score is validated for evaluating short-term stroke risk after transient ischemic attack
(TIA); however, whether it is able to predict the long-term risk of vascular outcome remains uncertain.
Recently a new tissue-based definition of TIA has been proposed. The ABCD2
scores of 145 TIA
patients admitted to our hospital were retrospectively calculated and stratified into two categories:
≤ 3 points (low risk); 4-7 points (moderate-high risk). At a median follow-up of 81 months, new
vascular events were recorded. Follow-up data were available in 107 patients. Seventy one patients
had a moderate-high ABCD2
score. Sixty six patients experienced a cerebral ischemic event; 8 a
myocardial infarction; 7 died of cerebrovascular or cardiovascular cause. Moderate-high ABCD2
score
was significantly associated with the further cerebral ischemic events (hazard ratio [HR], 1.755; 95%
confidence interval [CI], 1.019 to 3.024) and with the combined endpoint (HR, 1.818; 95% CI, 1.079
to 3.063). Our study shows that the ABCD2
score may also be used to predict long-term vascular
outcome after tissue-based definition of TIA. Moderate-high ABCD2
score is associated with an
increased general vascular risk in the long-term follow-up after TIA.
