China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2015;40(1):29-35
For natural products are one of the important sources for drug discovery, libraries and databases of natural products are significant for the development and research of natural products. At present, most of compound libraries at abroad are synthetic or combinatorial synthetic molecules, resulting to access natural products difficult; for information of natural products are scattered with different standards, it is difficult to construct convenient, comprehensive and large-scale databases for natural products. This paper reviewed the status of current accessing libraries and databases for natural products at abroad and provided some important information for the development of libraries and database for natural products.

Tianjin Medical Journal 2014;(7):719-721
Objective To explore the influence of uncertainty in illness in compliance of respiratory function exer-cise and rehabilitation after surgery in patients with coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Methods Mishel uncer-tainty in illness scale and compliance of respiratory function exercise scale were used to collect data in 108 patients with CABG. The correlation of the uncertainty in illness and compliance of respiratory function exercise was analyzed. Patients were divided into three groups (high score, medium score and low score groups) according to the detection of uncertainty in illness. Values of compliance of respiratory function exercise, postoperative care time, postoperative ventilation time, postop-erative hospital stay duration, 6-min walking test (6MWD) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were compared be-tween three groups. Results The uncertainty in illness was in medium level (95.51±9.48) in patients with CABG surgery, which was negatively correlated with compliance of respiratory function exercise (r=-0.926, P<0.01). The postoperative venti-lation time and postoperative care time were less in low score group than those of medium score group and high score group. The compliance of respiratory function exercise, 6-min walking test and postoperative LVEF were better in low score group than those of medium score group and high score group. Conclusion Medical personnel should take targeted interventions to reduce the uncertainty in illness in patients, enhance the compliance of respiratory function exercise, reduce the postopera-tive complications and promote early recovery of patients.
3. Effect of 5-Aza-CdR on the proliferation of human colorectal carcinoma cell line and expression of tumor suppressor gene PGDH
Tumor 2008;28(8):656-659
Objective: To explore the effect of 5-Aza-2′-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-CdR) on the molecular biological behaviors of SW480 cells and the expression of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (PGDH). Methods: Colorectal carcinoma SW480 cells were treated with 5-Aza-CdR. Cell proliferation was determined by MTT assay and plate colony formation test. The methylation status of the tumor suppressor gene PGDH was detected by methylation-specific PCR. The expression of PGDH protein was measured by Western blotting and the cell cycle was analyzed by flow cytometry. Results: It was shown that 5-Aza-CdR decreased the proliferation rate of SW480 cells compared with control group. The clony formation rate of SW480 cells decreased significantly after treatment with 5-Aza-CdR in 5 and 10μmol/L compared with the control group (35.4% and 26.5% vs 59.35%, P <0.01). The methylation degree in the promoter of PGDH gene was decreased and the expression of PGDH protein was detected after 5-Aza-CdR treatment. 5-Aza-CdR treatment induced G1 phase arrest of the SW480 cells. Conclusion: The hypermethylation of CpG islands in the promoter of PGDH gene results in the loss of PGDH protein expression in human colorectal carcinoma cell line. The demethylating agent 5-Aza-CdR could restore PGDH gene expression. These findings provide theoretic evidence for clinical treatment of human colorectal carcinoma with demethylation agent 5-Aza-CdR.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Peitu Shengjin Recipe (PSR) on nutritional states and immune functions of stable phase chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
METHODSTotally 62 stable phase COPD patients were randomly assigned to the treatment group (30 cases) and the control group (32 cases). All patients inhaled Seretide (50/500 µg), twice per day. Besides, patients in the treatment group additionally received PSR, one dose per day. After three months of treatment, the COPD assessment test (CAT) score, the index of nutritional states [including body mass index (BMI) , thickness of skin fold (TSF), mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC), serum albumin, serum prealbumin], and immune functions (including IgA, IgM, and IgG) were compared between the two groups.
RESULTSBy the end of the treatment, the CAT score decreased more obviously in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The improvement of BMI, TSF, MAMC, serum albumin, and serum prealbumin was better in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.05). IgM and IgG also increased more in the treatment group (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in IgA between the two groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSAdditionally use of PSR could improve nutritional states and immune functions of stable phase COPD patients to some extent. Meanwhile, it also could improve their health related quality of life.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2014;49(3):399-405
This study taking gestodene (GEST) as a model, investigated the factors affecting reservoir-type intravaginal ring (IVR)'s drug release. This paper reported a gestodene intravaginal ring of reservoir design, comprising a gestodene silicone elastomer core encased in a non-medicated silicone sheath, separately manufactured by reaction injection moulding at 80 degrees C and heating vulcanization at 130 degrees C is reported. The test investigated the factors affecting drug release through a single variable method, taking the drug release rates of 21 days as standards. When changing the thickness of the controlling sheath outside, the ratio of the first day of drug release and mean daily release (MDR), named the relatively burst effect, is closing to 1 with the thickness of controlling sheath increasing, while the 1.25 mm sheath corresponding to 1.04 controlled the burst release effectively; a positive correlation (r = 0.992 2) existed between the average drug release (Q/t) and drug loading (A) within a certain range. The C6-165 controlling sheath with high solubility of GEST is easier to achieve controlled release of the drug; GEST crystalline power is more effective to implement controlled release of drugs among difficent states of the drug. A 1/4 fractional segment core gives a relatively burst effect of 1.76, while the 1/1 and 1/2 are 1.93 and 1.87 separately, at the same drug loading, concluding that use of a fractional segment core would allow development of a suitable GEST reservoir IVR. In summary, GEST reservoir-type IVR could be adjusted by the thickness of controlling sheath, the loading of drug, the material properties of controlling sheath, the dispersion state of drug, the additive composition and structure of intravaginal ring, to control the drug release behavior and achieve the desired drug release rate.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of phenformin hydrochloride that may be illegally added in traditional Chinese medicine preparations on the pharmacokinetics of puerarin in rats.
METHODRats were randomly divided into the single pueraria group and the phenformin hydrochloride combined with pueraria group. After oral administration in the two groups, their bloods were sampled at different time points to determine the drug concentration of puerarin in rat blood and calculate pharmacokinetic parameters.
RESULTAfter oral administration with pueraria extracts and phenformin hydrochloride combined with pueraria extracts, the two groups showed main pharmacokinetic parameters as follows: Cmax were (2.39 +/- 1.01), (1.03 +/- 0.35) mg x L(-1), respectively; Tmax were (0.50 +/- 0.09), (1.5 +/- 0.5) h, respectively; Ke were (0.153 +/- 0.028), (0.172 +/- 0.042) h(-1), respectively; t(1/2) were (4.65 +/- 0.86), (4.20 +/- 0.81) h, respectively; AUC(0-t), were (5.73 +/- 2.60), (5.45 +/- 1.81) mg x h x L(-1), respectively; AUC(0-infinity) were (6.72 +/- 2.89), (6.26 +/- 1.88) mg x h x L(-1), respectively. Compared with the single puerarin group, the Cmax was significantly decreased (P < 0.05) and the Tmax was markedly longer (P < 0.01) than the hydrochloride combined with pueraria group.
CONCLUSIONPhenformin hydrochloride can slow down the absorption process of puerarin and change the pharmacokinetic process of puerarin to some extent.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2008;12(4):794-796
AIM: To appropriately modify the defects of active tourniquets in order to act as various tourniquet attachments in Chinese Army.METHODS: This attachment is classified into individual-solider end and searching-rescue end, and data at both ends are collected and transmitted by using wireless data transmission module. Individual-solider end is composed of timing alarm circuit, bit display tube and GPS module, etc. and the data are processed by using single chip of wireless data transmission module. Searching-rescue end adopts the same data transmission module as individual-solider end, and port connects to computer in order to realize two-dimensional data delivery and communication to individual-solider end by using computer-controlled software, i.e. battleground immediate pursuit rescue system.RESULTS: As various tourniquet attachments, individual-solider end is characterized by timing alarm function in the phase of installing tourniquet. Necessarily, we may start searching-rescue function, and the matching with searching-rescue end may realize personal identification and localization of wounded soldiers.CONCLUSION: As a common tourniquet attachment, it is provided with installing alarm, personal identification and localization of wounded soldiers; however, its function is still thin. It brings a lot of evidences for further improvement through installing a physiological probe at individual-solider end to collect physiological data and distantly monitor real-time vital signs of wounded soldiers.
