Objective To investigate the prevalence of anxiety and depression among the persons with disabilities in Shanghai and the factors related to them. Methods From November to December, 2014, 731 persons with disabilities were consecutively enrolled in this cross-sectional study. They were assessed with Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS). Binary Logistic regression analysis was employed to reveal potential related factors of anxiety and depression. Results The prevalence rates of anxiety and depression among the disabled in Shanghai were 9.58%and 8.48%, respectively. The duration (OR=0.967, P<0.05) and severity (OR<1, P<0.05) of disability were associated with depression, whereas retiral (OR=2.047, P<0.05), living alone or in care unit (OR=3.073, P<0.01) and duration of disability (OR=0.956, P<0.01) were associated with anxiety. Conclusion The frequency of anxiety and depression is mild among the persons with disabilities in Shanghai, and a special intervention is needed.

Objective To evaluate the locating effects of a portable ultrasound for leg perforator flaps, and the clinical effects of leg perforator flaps for the wounds of the extremities. Methods Since December 2009 to March 2011,thirty-one cases of soft tissue defects of the extremities were treated with free vascularized leg perforator flaps in our center.A portable ultrasound were used for the locating of the perforator arteries of the leg before the operations. These flaps include 24 cases of the fibular artery perforator flaps (4 with simultaneous fibula transfer),three cases of the posterior tibia artery perforator flap, two cases of the medial gastrocnemius artery perforator flap, and 2 cases of the lateral gastrocnemius artery perforator flap. The flap size ranged from 15.0 cm × 8.0 cm to 1.0 cm × 1.5 cm.The caliber diameter of the perforator artery ranged from 0.2 mm to 1.8 mm.The wounds included 21 cases of the hand, five cases of the forearm, and 5 cases of the leg. Results The coincidence rate intraoperatively of the portable ultrasound was 96.8%.All the flaps survived and the wounds healed uneventfully. The donor site of the flaps were either closed directly or closed with partial split-thickness skin graft. Conclusion The portable ultrasound is an effective, reliable and accurate instrument for locating the leg perforator flaps. The leg perforator flaps have the advantages of convenient harvest, satisfactory thickness, less donor site morbidity, and high survival rate.

The paper is aimed to study the dynamic accumulation regulation of curcumin (Cur), demethoxycurcumin (DMC) and bisdemethoxyeurcumin (BDMC) in three strains of Curcuma longa, and provide scientific references for formalized cultivation, timely harvesting, quality control and breeding cultivation of C. longa. The accumulation regulation of the three curcumin derivatives was basically the same in rhizome of three strains. The relative contents decreased along with plant development growing, while the accumulation per hectare increased with plant development growing. The accumulation of curcuminoids per hectare could be taken as the assessment standard for the best harvest time of C. longa. A3 was the best strain in terms of Cur and BDMC content.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of San-huang-sheng-fu oil on wounds of full-thickness scald in rabbits.
METHODSFull-thickness scald wounds with area of 6 cm(2) were reproduced on both sides of the back in 9 experimental rabbits by water vapor. These rabbits were divided into sesame oil (S1), San-huang-sheng-fu oil (S2), and mupirocin ointment (M) groups according to the random number table, with 3 rabbits (6 wounds) in each group. Two wounds of each rabbit in the three groups were respectively treated with sesame oil, San-huang-sheng-fu oil, and mupirocin ointment, in a dose of 0.15 mL/cm(2), 2-3 times per day. The general condition of wounds was observed on post scald day (PSD) 1, 11, 22, and 45. The wound healing time was recorded. The wound healing rate was calculated on PSD 5, 11, 15, and 22. All the rabbits were sacrificed on PSD 45, and wound tissues were subjected to histomorphological study with HE staining. The protein expressions of transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were observed with immunofluorescence staining for the other part of wound tissues. Data were processed with one-way analysis of variance or LSD-t test.
RESULTS(1) The wound healing quality of rabbits in S2 group was better than that in the other two groups. (2) The wound healing time of rabbits in S2 group [(11.2 ± 2.3) d] was significantly shorter than that in S1 group [(21.2 ± 3.1) d, t = 2.591, P < 0.05]. (3) The wound healing rate of rabbit in each group was increased gradually on PSD 5-22. The wound healing rates of rabbits in S2 group on PSD 5-22 were significantly higher than those in S1 group (with t values from 3.920 to 8.605, P values all below 0.05). (4) Histomorphological observation showed that the structure of wound tissues in S2 group was in much better integrity than that in the other two groups, including regenerated hair follicles in the corium layer and regularly arranged collagen fibers. The protein expressions of TGF-β1, bFGF, and VEGF in S2 group were all higher than those in the other two groups.
CONCLUSIONSSan-huang-sheng-fu oil can up-regulate the protein expressions of TGF-β1, bFGF, and VEGF, induce vascular regeneration, promote wound healing, and shorten wound healing time.

Chinese Journal of Oncology 2013;35(5):337-340
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of enoyl coenzyme A hydratase-1 (Ech1) on the proliferation and invasion ability of mouse hepatocarcinoma Hca-P cells in vitro.
METHODSRecombinant pcDNA3.1(+)-Ech1 gene and pcDNA3.1(+) were transfected into Hca-P cells by cationic liposomes introduction. Clone of PEch1 cells that stably expressing Ech1 and clone of control Pvector cells were screened by G418. The Ech1 expression was identified subsequently by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), respectively. The malignant behaviors of the cell lines were compared by proliferation, invasion and migration test.
RESULTSThe cell line Hca-P cells stably expressing Ech1 gene was constructed. The relative expression of Ech1 mRNA in the PEch1 group was 3.21 ± 0.43 and in the Pvector group was 1.44 ± 0.03, with a significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.029). The results of ELISA revealed that the expression of Ech1 protein was 0.140 ± 0.005 in the PEch1 group, 0.088 ± 0.003 in the Pvector group, and 0.078 ± 0.006 in the Hca-P group, showing a significant difference between the PEch1 group and the Pvector and Hca-P groups (P < 0.05). Transwell migration test showed that the number of penetrated cells in the PEch1 group was 143.00 ± 7.25 cells, significantly higher than that of the Pvector group (95.73 ± 3.88 cells) and un-treated Hca-1 group (106.67 ± 3.54 cells, both P < 0.05). The Transwell invasion assay showed that the number of penetrated cells was 77.20 ± 5.46 cells in the PEch1 group, significantly higher than 46.34 ± 4.35 cells in the Pvector group and 49.80 ± 5.21 cells in the un-treated Hca-1 group (both P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe results showed that overexpressed Ech1 in Hca-P cells may significantly increase the cell proliferation in a time-dependent manner. The up-regulation of Ech1 may increase to some extent the migration and invasion capacity of Hca-P cells. The efforts aiming at up-regulation of Ech1 expression may become a therapeutic target in the treatment of hepatocarcinoma.
