Objective: To study the anatomy of parathyroid gland for high-resolution ultrasonography and interventional ultrasound. Methods: Dissection of parathyroid gland was done on 20 adult cadavers with careful determination of the locations, numbers and size of identified glands. Results: There were 65 parathyroid glands identified in total, with an average of 3.25 glands per cadaver. In 8 cadavers(40%), both the superior and inferior parathyroid were single. In another 7 cadavers (35%), either the superior or the inferior parathyroid were found in pair. Four among 20 cadavers (20%) showed paired superior glands with a single inferior one, while in only one cadaver(5%) the inferior glands were in pair and the superior gland in single. Conclusion: Acquaintance of detailed parathyroid anatomy may help to conduct parathyroid ultrasonography and establish a safe and effective puncture route.

Objective: To study the effect of short exposure to high levels of fluoride on cellular structure and the DSP expression of odontoblasts of mice molars. Methods: 32 4-day-old ICR mice were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental animals were received a single intraperitoneal dose of 20 mg(n =8) andlO(n=8) mg NaF/kg( body weight) respectively. Equal doses of NaCl were given to the controls (n = 8 for each group). The injected volume was kept constant (10 μ/g). After 24 hours all mice were sacrificed. HE staining and immunohistochemical staining were used to observe the structural changes and the expression of DSP in odontoblasts of mouse molar at different stages. SPSS 13.0 software package was used to analyze the results. Results: The secretory odontoblasts distorted and lost its normal column contour. The immunohistochemistry results demonstrated that the expression of DSP was more intense than that in control group. Results of statistics analysis showed there were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.01). No remarkable differences were found in mature odontoblasts. Conclusion: Short exposure to high concentration of fluoride can enhance the expression of DSP in the secretory odontoblasts,and inhibit differentiation of the odontoblasts and matrix secretion. This lead to the abnormal development of dentinogenesis.

Objective To explore the effects of over-expression high-mobility-group A2(HMGA2) on proliferation and cell cycle in primary cultured human growth hormone-secreting pituitary tumor cells .Methods The protein expression of HMGA2 in growth hormone-secreting pituitary tumor cells transfected by HMGA2 overexpression plasmid (transfection group) were detected by Western blot .The effects of the HMGA2 overexpression on cell proliferation ,cell cycle were measured by (cell counting kit-8 , CCK-8) assay and flow cytometry respectively .Results HMGA2 protein of transfection group was higher than the blank load transfection group(tranfectied with pcDNA3 .1 plasmid) after 24 h (P<0 .05) .To compare with the blank load transfection group , cells overexpression of HMGA2 could drastically increase the ability of proliferation at 24 ,48 ,72 ,96 h and increase the S phase rati-o of cell cycle and decrease the G1 phase ratio of cell cycle ,the difference was statistically significant (P<0 .05) .Conclusion Over-expression of HMGA2 increases pituitary tumor cells proliferation ability and promote cells G 1 phase progress .

Aim To evaluate the mechanism of HG251-induced apoptosis in K562/DOX cells.Methods Cell viability was assessed by MTT assay;cell cycle distribution,apoptosis and mitochondrial membrane potential were measured by flow cytometry;the protein expressions of P-gp,caspase-3,caspase-8,caspase-9,p53,Bcl-xL and cytochrome c in the K562/DOX cells were evaluated by Western blot.Results HG251 was able to inhibit cells proliferation,induce apoptosis,lose mitochondrial membrane potential,activate caspase-3,caspase-8,caspase-9,up-regulate p53 protein and down-regulate Bcl-xL protein in a dose-dependent manner but it had no effect on P-gp protein expression.Conclusion HG251 could overcome apoptotic resistance via up-regulating p53 protein and down-regulating Bcl-xL protein.In addition,HG251 also induced K562/DOX cells apoptosis via mitochondrial pathway and membrane death receptor pathway.

Aim To observe the protective effects of breviscapine against lung fibrosis and investigate its possible mechanism.Methods Effects of breviscapine on cell proliferation,activation and extracellular matrix secretion were examined in mouse embryonic lung fibroblast L929 cells in vitro.The mouse model of bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis was used to assess the protective effect of breviscapine against lung fibrosis.Results In vitro,breviscapine had no cytotoxicity directly on L929 cells,however,it could suppress cell proliferation,activation and secretion of laminin(LN) and collagen Ⅰ(ColⅠ) induced by transforming growth factor beta1(TGF-?1) in L929 cells.In vivo,breviscapine could prevent increase in serum TGF-?1 and decrease in superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD) and catalase(CAT) in mice with lung fibrosis caused by bleomycin.In addition,breviscapine was able to reduce pulmonary hydroxyproline,collagen,malondialdehyde(MDA)and TGF-?1 in lung fibrosis mice.Conclusion Breviscapine has protective effect against lung fibrosis and the possible mechanism is to enhance antioxidative defense activities and prevent TGF-? signal.

ObjectiveTo study the rehabilitation effect of physical therapy on patients with above knee amputation. Methods50 patients with above knee amputation were evaluated with FIM scale before and after physical therapy. ResultsThere was a significant difference before and after physical therapy(P<0.05). Conclusions Physical therapy is effective on patients with above knee amputation.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the general and forensic pathological characteristics of death due to fat embolism syndrome (FES) and to provide reference data for forensic identification. METHODS: Twenty autopsy cases due to FES were selected from the forensic center of a medical college from 1999 to 2012. The general and forensic pathological characteristics such as the ways and types of injuries, clinical manifestation and the pathological changes were summarized. RESULTS: Fat embolism mainly occurred after long bone fracture or a large area of soft tissue injury with the majority of cases being fat embolism of lung and occasional cases being combined embolisms of lung and brain as well. The onset of symptoms appeared shortly after the injury or surgery. Lipid droplets could be observed within small pulmonary vessels and verified by special staining. CONCLUSION There are particular characteristics in death due to FES in concern with types of injuries, onset of symptoms and pathological findings. In order to find out the direct evidence of FES, special staining (oil red O staining) can be used in the forensic identification.
