Twenty-nine antagonistic bacillus strains, isolated from some Chinese traditional medicine and fermented food , inhibit the growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Vasinfectum and Verticillium dahliae Kleb. And twelve of them are able to produce antagonistic proteins. Among the twelve strains, five (H110, H184, H216, B316 and B382) showed higher antibacterial activity. Furthermore, H110 and H184 were identified as Bacillus subtilis, and H216, B316 and B382 as Bacillus licheniformis based on physiological and biochemistry experiments. The antagonistic proteins of five strains were all thermostable, resistant to proteinase K and trypsin, while H184 and H216 partially sensitive to pepsin.

Molecular methods and fluoroscopic techniques suggest that rich microbial diversity exist in the marine environment, but less than 1% of these microbes can be cultured in the laboratory conditions, and that the cultivable dominant species were even less. This limitation has long been a barrier to the development of environmental microbiology and the utilization of marine resources. In the past decade, novel methods for culture and detection of these uncultured marine microbes have successfully applied to obtain several conventionally-uncultured microbes including those from extreme environments. Those progresses have inspired researchers greatly. Developments in the research of marine microbial resources are an important basis for the study of the micro-world and deserve increasing scientific attention.

Objective: To detect the systolic and diastolic velocity in patients with idiopathic premature ventricular beat(PVB)by pulsed wave-tissue Doppler imaging (PW-TDI) techniques. Methods: There were two groups involved in this study. PVB group,n=30,patients with idiopathic PVB,and Control group,n=30,of healthy subjects. The changes of cardiac function were measured and compared between two groups by the index of myocardial motion velocity using PW-TDI techniques. Results: A total of 7 sites were studied, there were no significant differences in systolic peak velocities (Sm),time velocity integral (TVI),peak velocity of the early relaxation wave (Em),peak velocity of the later relaxation wave (Am) and Em/Am ratio (Em/Am) between the Control group and PVB group in the normal sinus beat (P>0.05).Compared with the normal sinus beat,Sm,TVI,Em and Em/Am were significantly lower in PVB (P<0.01),while Sm,TVI,Em in the post-PVB sinus beat were significantly higher than that in normal sinus beat (P<0.01). However, there were no significant differences of Am in each site among the normal sinus beat,PVB and the post-PVB sinus beat. Conclusion: PVB and PVB-induced compensational interval could significantly influence the systolic and diastolic function of the ventricle.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Lugu Ganoderma Lucidum (LGL) on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and monocyte adhesion to endothelium (AdM-E) induced by oxydative LDL and advanced glycosylation endproducts (AGE) by using serum pharmacological technique.
METHODSLDL oxidation was determined by measuring the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances in the supernatants, and AdM-E was determined by measuring myeloperoxidase activity of adherent monocyte.
RESULTSSerum derived from rats 0.5 hrs, 1 hr, 2 hrs, 3 hrs after LGL administering 0.12 g/kg once and 0.5 hrs, 1 hr after LGL administering twice showed no significant effect on LDL oxidation, but the serum from rats 2 hrs, 3 hrs after LGL 0.12 g/kg administering twice or from rats after 10 successive days LGL administering in dose of 0.12 g/kg, 0.24 g/kg and 0.72 g/kg, all could lower the LDL oxidation (P < 0.05). Besides, the serum from rats with 10 days LGL administering of all dosages also could inhibit AdM-E induced by AGE (P < 0.05), and those of 0.24 g/kg and 0.72 g/kg could inhibit AdM-E induced by oxydative LDL (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONLGL could decrease LDL oxidation and AdM-E induced by AGE or oxydative LDL.

Objective To investigate analgesic effects of the selective blocking of descending facilitation targeting μ opioid receptor positive neurons in the rostral ventromedial medulla ( RVM) in a rat model of bone cancer pain. Methods Forty-eight adult female Wistar rats weighing 180-200 g were randomly divided into 6 groups: group Ⅰ control ( n = 3) ;group Ⅱ bone cancer pain induced by intra-tibia inoculation of Walker 256 mammary gland carcinoma cells ( n = 9) ;group Ⅲ-Ⅵ received a single intra-RVM micro-injection of PBS (group Ⅲ), dermorphin (group Ⅳ) , saporin (group Ⅴ) and dermorphin-saporin ( group Ⅵ) respectively at 28 days before intra-tibia inoculation ( n = 9 each) . Starting from 3 to 20 days after intra-tibia inoculation, mechanical allodynia was assessed and recorded. The animals were sacrificed on 7, 14 and 20 days after intra-tibia inoculation, after repetitive non-noxious tactile stimulation of the hindpaw. The total number of Fos-positive neurons in the spinal dorsal horn was measured as a marker indicative of central sensitization. Results The animals developed nociceptive hypersensitivity after intra-tibia cancer cell inoculation in group Ⅱ -Ⅵ . Nociceptive hypersensitivity was significantly decreased during 4-7 days after the onset of nociception in group Ⅵ (dermorphin-saporin). The number of Fos positive neurons in bilateral spinal dorsal horn was significantly increased by intra-tibia inoculation of cancer cells in group Ⅱ-Ⅵ as compared with control group and was significantly lower at day 14 and 20 after inoculation in group Ⅵ (dermorphin-saporin) than in group Ⅱ - Ⅴ.Conclusion Selective blocking of descending facilitation targeting μ opioid receptor positive neurons in RVM can effectively reduce nociceptive hypersensitivity induced by intra-tibia inoculation of Walker56 mammary gland carcinoma cells.
