Objective To analyze the incidence and the risk factors of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) among the multiple and single gestations births.Methods A prospective control study was applied to the research.The preterm infants were selected that from September 2013 to December 2015 in neonatology department of our hospital.They were divided into multiple gestations group (52 cases) and single birth infants group (600 cases).RetCam Ⅲl retina camera and binocular indirect ophthalmoscope video were used to screening the ocular fundus.The cure rate of the two groups was compared with chi-square test.Results The incidence of ROP in multiple gestations group (32.69％) was higher than single birth infants group (20.83％) (P =0.047).There was significant difference about the multiple and single gestations births in ≤ 30 weeks (P =0.040),and there was no statistically significant difference in ＞ 30 weeks (all P ＞0.05).With the increase of birth weight,the ROP detection rate of two groupa was reduced.There was no statistically significant difference about different birth weight among the two groups (all P ＞ 0.05).The oxygen usage of ＞ 5 days ROP detection rate was higher than 5 days or less in the two groups (P =0.025,0.001).There was no significant difference in ROP detection rate between two groups with ≤5 d oxygen usage.There was significant difference about the multiple and single gestations births in oxygen usage of ＞ 5 days (P =0.020).Multivariate analysis found that multiple gestations and small gestational age were risk factors for ROP.Conclusion The smaller gestational age,the lower birth weight,and the longer oxygen therapy with the preterm infants,the higher the incidence of ROP.The number of different gestational is also the influences factors of ROP.Multiple gestations overall incidence of ROP is higher than the single birth infants.The smaller the gestational age and the longer oxygen usage,multiple gestations incidence of ROP is higher than single gestation in different births.However,there is no relationship in different birth weight among the multiple and single gestations.

Objective To investigate the risk factors for traumatic lumbar punctures in children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Methods 132 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia totally received 2634 lumbar punctures. The basic data on age, sex, body mass index (BMI), platelet count, interval between two punctures, and presence or absence of ultrasound-guided procedure were collected and analyzed. The risk factors for traumatic lumbar puncture were identified by logistic regression. Results The risk for traumatic lumbar puncture was higher in children younger than 1 year, and it was relatively lower in those aged 1 to 10 years. The risk for traumatic lumbar puncture was slightly higher in children with a BMI index of more than 95. The longer the interval between two punctures, the lower the risk. If lumbar puncture was guided under ultrasound or radiographic images, the risk was much smaller. Conclusions Age of younger than 1 year, BMI index of more than 95, shorter interval between two punctures, and direct puncture can increase the risk for traumatic lumbar puncture.

OBJECTIVE:To study pharmacokinetics of domestic and imported Phenazopyridine hydrochloride tables and bioavailability of domestic tablets, and to evaluate the bioequivalence of two kinds of tablets. METHODS: A randomized crossover design was performed in 18 healthy male volunteers. They received a single oral dose of domestic or imported tablets 200 mg. Plasma concentration of phenazopyridine hydrochloride was measured by HPLC. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by 3p97 software and relative bioavailability was evaluated. RESULTS: The plasma concentration-time curves of domestic and imported tablets conformed to one-compartment model. Main pharmacokinetic parameters of domestic tablets vs. imported tablets were as follows: t1/2Ke(3.52?2.03) h vs. (3.18?1.85)h; tmax(0.76?0.33) h vs. (0.79?0.43)h; Cmax(76.41?70.15) ng?mL-1 vs. (75.49?70.37) ng?mL-1; AUC0～8(159.10?116.32) ng?h?mL-1 vs. (164.65?129.89) ng?h?mL-1; AUC0～∞(237.12?115.06) ng?h?mL-1 vs. (262.69?155.05) ng?h?mL-1. The relative bioavailability of domestic tablets was (96.63?14.05)% compared with imported tablet. There was no significant difference between the pharmacokinetic parameters of two formulations by variance analysis, t-test and 1-2? confidence interval method. CONCLUSION: The domestic and imported tablets are bioequivalent.

ObjectiveTo explore whether the biocompatibility of phosphorylcholine (PC) modified alginate-chitosan microcapsules could be improved. MethodsPC modified alginate-chitosan microcapsules were obtained by high-voltage electrostatic system.Bradford method was adopted to determine the adsorption amounts of bovine serum albumin by chitosan alone and PC modified chitosan.Alginate-chitosan-PC microcapsules (experimental group) and alginate-chitosan microcapsules ( control group) were respectively implanted into the peritoneal cavity of mice and retrieved 4 weeks after transplantation.Fibrosis of the capsules was evaluated by HE staining.Glucose stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) assay was used to assess the insulin secretion response of encapsulated and nonencapsulated rat islets. Results The adsorption amount of protein was 189.4 μg/mg and 90.5 μg/mg respectively by chitosan alone and PC modified chitosan.The difference had statistical significance ( t =5.549, P ＜ 0.05 ).In contrast to the control group, the cellular reaction on the surface of the modified microcapsules was weaker, with no obvious fibrosis found.The insulin secreted by encapsulated islets and nonencapsulated islets was( 3.298 ± 1.680 ) μIU/ml VS (4.299 ± 1.159 ) μIU/ml ( t =1.096, P ＞ 0.05 ) in response to low-glucose stimulus and( 11.783 ± 4.175 ) μIU/ml VS ( 12.875 ± 2.268 ) μIU/ml ( t =0.514, P ＞ 0.05 ) in response to high-glucose stimulus.Conclusions PC can improve the biocompatibility of alginate-chitosan microcapsules, with no effect on the biological function of encapsulated islets.It may be more appropriate to use modified microcapsules encapsulating islets for transplantation.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the genetic polymorphisms of 19 STR Loci in Shandong Han population in order to provide the genetic data for paternity testing. METHODS: The genotypes of 205 unrelated individuals in Shandong Han population were typed by Goldeneye 20A kit to get the allele frequencies and population genetic parameters of 19 STR loci. Four kits, Identifiler kit, SinoFiler kit, PowerPlex 16 kit, and Goldeneye 20A kit, were compared with each other and used in the analysis of a special paternity test case. RESULTS: The population genetic parameters of 19 STR loci in Shandong Han Population were obtained. The cumulative discrimination power (CDP) and cumulative probability of exclusion (CPE) ranked from high to low were Goldeneye 20A kit, SinoFiler kit, PowerPlex 16 kit and Identifiler kit, respectively. As duo case, the result of the real case showed that Identifiler kit had no excluding loci, and none of the SinoFiler kit, PowerPlex 16 kit or Goldeneye 20A kit could exclude fatherhood. CONCLUSION Compared with Identifiler kit, SinoFiler kit, and PowerPlex 16 kit, Goldeneye 20A kit shows the higher efficiency than the others, but is not completely satisfied for duo cases.

BACKGROUND: The effect of pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) during traumatic brain injury (TBI) and whether it can modulate secondary injury has not been reported previously. The present study evaluated the potential protective effects of ventricular infusion of PACAP in a rat model of TBI. METHODS: Male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups (n=6, each): sham-operated, vehicle (normal saline)+TBI, and PACAP+TBI. Normal saline or PACAP (1g/5L) was administered intracerebroventricularly 20 minutes before TBI. Right parietal cortical contusion was produced via a weight-dropping method. Brains were extracted 24 hours after trauma. Histological changes in brains were examined by HE staining. The numbers of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in blood and the spleen were detected via flow cytometry. RESULTS: In injured brain regions, edema, hemorrhage, inflammatory cell infiltration, and swollen and degenerated neurons were observed under a light microscope, and the neurons were disorderly arrayed in the hippocampi. Compared to the sham group, average CD4+ CD8– lymphocyte counts in blood and the spleen were significantly decreased in rats that received TBI+vehicle, and CD4– CD8+ were increased. In rats administered PACAP prior to TBI, damage was attenuated as evidenced by significantly increased CD4+, and decreased CD8+, T lymphocytes in blood and the spleen. CONCLUSION: Pretreatment with PACAP may protect against TBI by influencing periphery T cellular immune function.

Objective To evaluate the relationships of the serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and adiponectin with the mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in senile metabolic syndrome (MS)patients. Methods The 74 cases with MS and 30 health controls (control group) were enrolled. Mini-mental state examination (MMSE), montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA), digit-symbol test (DST), auditory verbal memory test (AVMT), trail making test(TMT), sunderland clock drawing test (CDT) and verbal fluency test (VFT) were applied to evaluate cognitive function. Based on the cognitive assessment, MS patients were divided into two groups: 39 cases with MCI (MS+MCI group) and 35 cases without cognitive impairment (MS group). The levels of MMP-9, ICAM-1 and adiponectin were measured by ELISA. Biochemical variables were measured by routine methods in all subjects. Results (1)MS+MCI group showed the higher levels of BMI, SBP, FBG and MMP-9 (all P＜0.05) and lower level of adiponectin (P＜0.05) than did the MS group. And MS group had higher levels of MMP-9 and ICAM-1 (P＜0.01) and lower adiponectin level (P＜0.01) than did the control group. (2)Spearman's correlation analysis showed that the serum levels of MMP-9 (r=-0.794, P＜0.001) and ICAM-l (r=-0.501, P＜0.001) were negatively correlated with adiponectin. However, MMP-9 was positively correlated with ICAM-1 (r=0.481, P=0.006). (3)Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that there was linear relationship of MoCA with MMP-9 (β=-3.438, P=0.0019), adiponectin (β=1.337, P=0.006), SBP (β=-0.058, P=0.003) and FBG (β=-0.227, P=0.049). (4)Stepwise logistic analysis showed that both high MMP-9 (OR=1.007) and low adiponectin (OR=0.359) were risk factors for the decline of cognitive function. Conclusions Elderly patients with MS may show deterioration in memory, calculation and visuospatial perception. Elevated inflammatory factors might contribute, in combination with abnormal metabolism, to MCI. MMP-9 might contribute to neuronal degeneration. However, adiponectin could strongly counteract the risk factors for cognitive impairment.
