A male patient, 67 years old, was admitted with the left auricle neoplasm over two months, increased rapidly for 10 days, on November 5, 2013. The tumer is about 2. 0 cm ×× 2. 0 cm size, smooth surface, no burst, hard, painless, and immobilization. After admission biopsy, the pathological report: "spindle cell sarcoma", thin a total resection of the left auricle under local anesthesia was made, postoperative pathological report: tumor by short of spindle cells, arranged in bunchiness, a small number of seats is arrangeA striate; The nuclei are hyperchromatic and part of the visible nucleoli and empty bright cytoplasm, pathological nuclear fission was visible. "Scar" on the matrix of collagen, hardening, and change the glass samples. The tumor destruction of cartilage. immunohistochemical stainin : Vimentin (+), CD99 (-), Bcl-2 (-), CD34 (-), SMA (-), Des (-), HMB45 (-), MelanA(-), S-100(-), CK(-). Diagnosis as fibrosarcoma. The patient refused any radiation or chemotherapy. Postoperative follow-up of 8 months, no local recurrence and distant metastasis.

8. The diagnostic values of MRI, enhanced CT and PET-CT in detecting skull base invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinomas: A comparative study
Tumor 2008;28(9):795-798
Objective: To compare the diagnostic values of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), enhanced computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography (PET)-CT using 18F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose (FDG) in detecting skull base invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and provide the evidence for differentiated diagnosis of the skull base invasion of NPC. Methods: The fifty seven patients were scanned by MRI, enhanced CT, and PET-CT. The three imaging examinations were finished within 20 days. The diagnosis standards were based on histopathologic findings or clinical and imaging follow-up results within 6 months. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of the three scanning technologies were compared. Results: For detecting skull base invasion of NPC, the sensitivity of enhanced CT, MRI, and PET-CT were 68.18%, 84.09%, and 97.67%, respectively; the specificity were 76.92%, 69.23%, and 57.14%, respectively; the accuracy were 70.18%, 80.70%, and 87.72%, respectively; PPV were 90.90%, 90.24%, and 87.50%, respectively; NPV were 41.67%, 56.25%, and 88.89%, respectively. PET-CT was better than enhanced CT in sensitivity, accuracy, and NPV (P <0.05). It was also better than MRI in sensitivity and NPV (P <0.05). Conclusion: Among three imaging technologies,PET-CT has obvious advantage in detecting skull base invasion of NPC patients, especially for new patients.

Herald of Medicine 2015;(3):317-321
Objective To study the expression of insulin like growth factor binding proteins 3 (IGFBP-3) during inhi-bition of resveratrol (Res) on cell proliferation. Methods The inhibitory effect of Res on BGC-823 cells was determined by MTT method; Real-time qRT-PCR and western blot were applied to detect the expression of IGFBP-3 in Res-treated BGC-823 cells. In addition, cytometry was used to determine the proliferation and apoptosis of Res-treated BGC-823 after knockdown of IG-FBP-3 by siRNA. Results Upon Res (20,40, 80 and 160 μmol · L-1 ) treatment, the viability of BGC-823 cells was (82. 35±10. 65)% ,(74. 30±12. 36)% ,(62. 80±14. 66)% and (50. 75±11. 14)% , respectively. The mRNA and protein ex-pression of IGFBP-3 elevated as high as 2. 96-fold compared to the control group (P<0. 05). The cell viability of BGC-823 cells with IGFBP-3 knockdown was significantly higher than that of the wild type ( P < 0. 05 ) only at high Res concentration (160 μmol·L-1 ). Meanwhile,IGFBP-3 knockdown led to a significant decrease on cell apoptotic rate by Res (160 μmol·L-1 ) [(20. 13±9. 12)% vs (35. 48±11. 12)% ,P<0. 05)]. Conclusion Res can inhibit BGC-823 cell proliferation and promote cell apoptosis, the underlying mechanism of which may be related to the overexpression of IGFBP-3 in BGC-823 cells.
