? AlM: To observe the clinical curative effect of intravitreal Bevacizumab injection combined duplex technique in treatment of neovascular glaucoma ( NVG) .
?METHODS:Totally 25 eyes of 25 patients with NVG who underwent intravitreal Bevacizumab injection of 1. 0mg (0. 05mL), after the regression of iris neovascularization, 5 eyes with anterior chamber paracentesis fluid auxiliary controlled intraocular pressure. After 2wk, patients were treated by trabeculectomy and phacomulsification (9 eyes were implanted intraocular lens ) . The changes and complications of intraocular pressure, visual acuity, corneas and neovessels were observed after surgery, and followed up 12mo.
?RESULTS:After injection Bevacizumab in 25 eyes, iris neovascularization of 20 eyes subsided in 3 ~ 5d, and 5 eyes subsided in 7d. After controlling intraocular pressure, count of the corneal endothelial cell were 1 629±226mm2 , and none suffered decompensation of corneal endothelium after two- surgery of trabeculectomy and phacomulsification. After followed up 12mo, intraocular pressure of 20 eyes were controlled in normal range; 2 eyes could control in normal range after treated by a kind of anti-glaucoma medicine and 3 eyes was 34 ~38mmHg after treated by anti- glaucoma medicine. 9 eyes had improved vision after implanted intraocular lens.
?CONCLUSlON:lntravitreal Bevacizumab injection can subside iris and anterior chamber angle neovascularization effectively in a short time and reduce intraocular pressure. lt can also reduce the risk of bleeding during operation or after operation. lntravitreal Bevacizumab injection combined with two- surgery of trabeculectomy and phacomulsification can treat neovascular glaucoma effectively.

A sesquiterpene synthase (AsSS4) full-length open reading frame (ORF) cDNA was cloned from wounded stems of Aquilaria sinensis by RT-PCR method. The result showed that the ORF of AsSS4 was 1,698 bp encoding 565 amino acids. Prokaryotic expression vector pET28a-AsSS4 was constructed and transformed into E. coli BL21 (DE3) pLysS. Recombinant AsSS4 protein was obtained after induction by IPTG and SDS-PAGE analysis with a MW of 64 kD. Enzymatic reactions using farnesyl pyrophosphate showed that recombinant AsSS4 protein purified by Ni-agarose gel yielded five sesquiterpene compounds, cyclohexane, 1-ethenyl-1-methyl-2, 4-bis(1-methylethenyl)-, β-elemene, α-guaiene, α-caryophyllene and δ-guaiene. This paper reported the first cloning and functional characterization of AsSS4 gene from A. sinensis, which will establish a foundation for future studies on the molecular mechanisms of wound-induce agarwood formation in A. sinensis

Rhubarb is a traditional Chinese medicines which possess laxative, lipid-lowering, and weight-loss activities, but the active compounds of lipid-lowering and underlying molecular mechanisms are not yet clear. This study aims to explore the effects of chrysophanol on the mRNA expressions of sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs) and lipid metabolism in human liver carcinoma Huh-7 cells, which is one of the active compounds obtained from Rhubarb. A reporter gene assay was used to test the transcription of SREBP. The intracellular triglyceride and total cholesterol contents were measured by using commercially available test kits. The SREBPs target genes expressions were measured by Quantitative Real-Time PCR. Cell viability was evaluated by Cell Counting Kit-8. As the results shown, chrysophanol (40 μmol · L(-1), 16 h) could notably inhibited human SRE promoter activity in a dose-dependent manner and decrease intracellular cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Furthermore, the mRNA expressions of SREBPs target genes were significantly downregulated by chrysophanol treatment. However there are no significant differences on cell viability when compared with the control group. These results suggested that chrysophanol might improve lipid metabolism through suppressing the mRNA expressions of SREBPs target genes to attenuate intracellular lipid accumulation.

There are 250 species of Zanthoxylum (Rutaceae) in the world. This genus distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. Alkaloids are the major and representative ingredients in these plants including quinolines, isoquinolines, and amide alkaloids, with such biological activities as anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-virus, anti-platelet aggregation, anti-bacteria and anti- oxidant. These species have been used for a long time to treat toothache, urinary and venereal diseases, lumbago and rheumatism. This review summarizes the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities from the Z. sppplants, in an effort to the systematic research and application of the alkaloids of this genus.

Objective To investigate the correlation of pretreatment serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCCAg)with the clinico-pathological features of squamous cell carcinoma of uterine cervix and its significance as a prognostic factor.Methods One hundred and fourteen patients of squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix(Ⅰbl-Ⅱa),who underwent pretreatment serum SCCAg evaluation and long-term follow-up after treatment were selected for this study.Clinical data were used to investigate the correlation between SCCAg and clinico-pathological features and factors that influence prognosis through univariate and multivariate analysis.Results Univariate analysis showed elevation of SCCAg(using≤1.5 mg/L as the cut-off value)was correlated with tumor size,deep stromal invasion and pelvic node metastasis (P0.05).However,between no pelvic node metastasis+elevated SCCAg cases and no pelvic node metastasis+normal SCCAg cases,there was a significant difference in DFS (71.8% vs 98.0%,P=0.003),recurrence rate(33.3% vs 9.8%,P=0.006)and local recurrence (26.5% vs 2.1%,P=0.001).Conelusions The independent prognostic factors for Ⅰ bl-Ⅱa squamous cell carcinoma of uterine cervix include elevated pretreatment SCCAg and pelvic node metastasis. Patients with elevated pretreatment serum SCCAg and no metastasis to pelvic lymph node(s)are at significantly elevated risk of local recurrence,and therefore need individualized treatment to improve local control and long-term survival.

ObjectiveTo study the effect of music exposure in juvenile stage on anxiety-like behavior and fear extinction in adult rats.Methods4 broods of two-week-old healthy Sprague-Dawleyda rats were separated into two groups randomly.The music groups were exposed to music from 20:00 to 22:00 for 21 consecutive days.When the rats were 5 weeks old,they were caged by sex,with 8 male rats and 6 female rats in each group.When the rats were 8 weeks old,the two groups were assessed in the elevated-plus maze test,the open-field test,trained and assessed by the conditional fear training and fear extinction training.ResultsIn the elevated-plus maze test:Prior to the foot shock,the percent of time spent in the open arms in the music group (female(7.07 ± 1.14)％,male (5.12 ± 1.95 ) ％ ) exhibited no significant difference (P＞ 0.05 ) comparing with the rats in the control group (female (4.65 ± 0.86 ) ％,male ( 4.86 ± 1.95 ) ％ ).After the foot shock,the percent of time spent in the open arms in the music group ( female ( 8.63 ± 3.35 ) ％,male ( 7.79 ± 2.49 ) ％ ) increased comparing to the control group (female(1.48 ±0.11)％,male(4.29 ± 1.68)％) (P＜0.01). In the open-field test:prior to the foot shock,the percent of time spent in the center zone of the music group ( female (6.16 ± 2.17 ) ％,male (6.25 ±3.47) ％ ) exhibited no significant difference (P＞ 0.05) comparing with the rats in control group (female(5.27 ±1.95 )％,male (6.22 ± 3.13 )％ ).After the foot shock,the percent of time spent in the center zone in the music group (female(8.52 ± 1.93) ％,male (6.95 ± 2.46 ) ％ ) was larger than the control group ( female ( 3.47 ±0.93 ) ％,male (4.36 ± 2.22 ) ％ ) (P ＜ 0.05 ).The fear extinction training showed that the percent of freezing time exhibited no significant difference between the male and female rats of the music group and control group in the first block of the first extinction training day and the percentage of freezing time of female rats in music group was significantly lower than that of female rats in control group on the third extinction training day.The percentage of freezing time of male rats in the music group was significantly lower than that of male rats in control group on the second and third training day.ConclusionMusic exposure in juvenile stage decreases the anxiety level after foot shock,and promotes the long-term fear extinction,while has no effect on the level of fear memory.

AIM To establish an HPLC-ELSD method for the simultaneous content determination of gastrodin,parishin A,parishin B,ginsenosides Rg1,Re,Rf,Rb1 and Rd in Tiantai No.1 Tablets (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma,Gastrodiae Rhizoma,Cistanches Herba,etc.).METHODS The analysis of methanol extract of this drug was performed on a 45 ℃C thermostatic Alltima C1scolumn (4.6 mm × 250 mm,5 μm),with the mobile phase comprising of acetonitrie-0.1％ phosphoric acid flowing at 1.0 mL/min in a gradient elution manner.RESULTS Eight constituents showed good linear relationships within their own ranges (r ＞ 0.999 0),whose average recoveries were 96.94％-97.93％ with the RSDs of 1.06％-2.48％.CONCLUSION This simple,accurate and reliable method can be used for the quality control of Tiantai No.1 Tablets.

Background Selective laser trabeculoplasty(SLT)has been widely accepted for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma.However,there are few reports about its application in treating angle-closure glaucoma so far.Objective This study was to clinically evaluate the safety and efficacy of selective laser trabeculoplasty for primary angle-closure glaucoma with opened anterior angle follow-up surgery.Methods A case-observational design was adopted in this study.A total of 33 eyes from 23 angle-closure glaucomatous patients with opened 180° angle were enrolled.All the patients understood this trial and written informed consent was obtained prior to the medical treatment.The average preoperative intraocular pressure(IOP)and number of medication were(23.07±4.01)mmHg and 1.52±0.66,respectively.A frequency doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser was used to irradiate the trabecular meshwork with 70-80 laser spots over 180°.The same preoperative anti-glaucoma drugs were topically administered during the follow-up period.Visual acuity,IOP,slit lamp examination,gonioscopy and the coefficient of outflow facility were regularly assessed and performed after laser surgery.Results The IOP values of the 33 eyes were(18.78±4.87)mmHg,(18.83±3.95)mmHg,(19.78±4.48)mmHg,(19.63±3.68)mmHg,(19.11±3.36)mmHg,and(21.17±3.14)mmHg 1 day,l week,and 1,3,6,9 months after operation,showing significant decline in comparison with preoperation(P＜0.01).The mean drug uses were 1.63±0.85,1.23±1.01,1.25±0.98,1.21±1.02,1.22±0.86,and 1.69±0.53 at the same time point after operation,respectively,and significant differences were found 1 week,1,3,6 months in postoperation in comparison with preoperation(P =0.020,0.026,0.020,0.031).Ciliary congestion and aqueous flare naturally disappeared 1 week after surgery.The coefficients of outflow facility were 0.11±0.09 and 0.23±0.15,respectively at pretreatment and 3 months after SLT with a statistically significant difference (P=0.002).Conclusions Selective laser trabeculoplasty is effective and safe for angle-closure glaucoma.However,it is essential to have 1/2 circle of anterior chamber open for SLT in angle-closure glaucoma.

Objective To investigate the spectrum,diagnosis,time of therapy and management of the congeni-tal heart disease(CHD)in patients with Down′s syndrome(DS).Methods A retrospective report was undertaken of 96 cases in children with DS accompanied by CHD in Department of Pediatric Cardiology,Beijing Anzhen Hospital Af-filiated to Capital Medical University.Data were collected and analyzed about their clinical characteristics,and types of cardiovascular abnormalities,and the important laboratory examinations such as echocardiography and catheterization as well as the procedures of diagnosis and treatments were summarized.Then the interventions,complications and prognosis of different patients were estimated.Results (1)Single congenital heart disease was found in 33 cases (34.38%),a-mong which ventricular septal defect was the most common (14 cases,14.58%),followed by atrioventricular septal de-fect and atrial septal defect (equally,7 cases,7.29%).Multi -cardiovascular abnormalities were discovered in 63 ca-ses,and patent ductus arteriosus turned out to be the most common (42 cases,66.67%).(2)Cat-heterization was car-ried out in 18 cases of serious pulmonary arterial hypertension,and 8 cases were proved resistant pulmonary arterial hy-pertension without operation opportunity.The other 8 cases were estimated as high pulmonary arterial hypertension and medical therapy was suggested before reassessment to reduce surgical risks.(3)Operations were undertaken in 61 ca-ses,among which percutaneous interventional occlusion was performed in 7 cases and surgical interventions were per-formed in 54 patients,in which perioperation complications and death were found in 5 cases and 4 cases,respectively. Conclusions Operation interventions are practicable and most cases recovered well with systematic examinations and assessment in patients with DS and cardiovascular malformations.Early diagnosis and timely interventions are highly suggested.Also close attentions should be paid to follow -up and re -estimation after medical therapy.
