Vertigo is a kind of patients' subjective feelings. The severity of vertigo is closely related to many factors. But we are short of a well accepted quantitative evaluation method capable of accurately and comprehensively evaluating vertigo in clinics. Reducing the onset of vertigo, enhancing the re- covery of equilibrium function, and improving the quality of life of vertigo patients should be taken as the focus of evaluating therapeutic effects. As for establishing a Chinese medical effectiveness evaluation system for vertigo, we believe we should distinguish different "diseases". We could roughly identify it as systemic vertigo and non-systemic vertigo. For systemic vertigo, the efficacy of vertigo could be comprehensively evaluated by UCLA vertigo questionnaire or dizziness handicap inventory combined with equilibrium function testing indices. But for non-systemic vertigo, the efficacy of vertigo could be comprehensively evaluated by taking UCLA vertigo questionnaire or dizziness handicap inventory as main efficacy indices. Secondly, we should analyze different reasons for vertigo, choose symptoms and signs in line with vertigo features as well as with Chinese medical theories, and formulate corresponding syndrome effectiveness standards according to different diseases. We should not simply take syndrome diagnosis standards as efficacy evaluation standards.

Objective To investigate the stiffness of lumbar spine after the injury caused by percutaneous diskectomy and evaluate the efficiency of percutaneous lumbar diskectomy by biomechanical study. Methods Four fresh lumbar specimens were used to analyse load-displacement curves in the intact lumbar spine and vertical disc-injured lumbar spine. The concepts of average flexibility coefficient (f) and standardized average flexibility coefficient (fs) were also introduced. Objective To investigate the relationship of nitric oxide with nitric oxide synthase system in fetal rat kidney and the mechanism of renal injury after acute intrauterine ischemia(hypoxia)/reperfusion ischemia(hypoxia)/reperfusion. Methods Wistar rats of 21 gestational days were selected and divided into seven groups according to the different ischemia(hypoxia)/reperfusion time. Objective To study the clinical and pathological characteristics, treatment results and prognosis of primary parotid non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Methods All of our 21 patients received operative resection first and were histologically comfirmed as having T-cell (intermediate grade) and 20 B-cell lineage (2 high grade, 6 intermediate grade ,12 low grade) including 7 mucosa-associatied lymphoid tissue (MALT) phenotype. Ann Anbor stages were 16 stage Ⅰ E and 5 stage Ⅱ E lesions. All patients were treated by radiotherapy,of them 11 were also given 2～6 cycle chemotherapy. Results The overall 5-year survival rate was 77.0%. All 5 patients who died did so of distant involvement. Conclusions Our data show that MALT lymphoma can be present as a primary paroid NHL,although it is not included in the Working Formulation. Low-dose radiotherapy is of choice in the treatment. Patients with intermediate or high grade NHL should be given multi-modality therapy.

AIM:To analyze the cause of posterior capsular rupture in small incision non - phacoemulsification cataract surgery and investigate the treatment methods.
METHODS: The clinical data of 108 cases ( 121 eyes ) undergone small incision non - phacoemulsification cataract surgery combined with intraocular lenses ( IOL) implantation were retrospectively analyzed. The causes of posterior capsular rupture and treatment of 6 patients (6 eyes) after surgery were analyzed and summarized.
RESULTS: Six cases ( 6 eyes, 4. 96%) occurred posterior capsular rupture during the operation, of which 2 cases ( 2 eyes ) underwent posterior chamber IOL implantation intraoperative, 2 cases (2 eyes) receivedIIstage IOL implantation in the ciliary sulcus at 1wk postoperative, 2 cases ( 2 eyes ) were given anterior chamber IOL implantation. One case ( 1 eye ) whose vision acuity <0. 1 was macular degeneration; One case ( 1 eye ) whose vision acuity = 0. 3 was diabetic retinopathy;0. 4~0. 6 in 2 cases (2 eyes), 0. 6~0. 8 in 2 cases (2 eyes) after 1 ~3mo postoperatively. No severe syndrome was found after surgery.
CONCLUSION:Posterior capsular rupture which occurs in different stages of the operation is the commonest intraoperative complication in small lincision non -phacoemulsification cataract surgery. With improving operative techniques, and continuously accumulating experience, incidence of posterior capsular rupture can be effectively reduced. Even posterior capsular rupture occurs intraoperative, patients can still get a good outcome after timely and proper treatment.
