In recent years, root rot diseases of Chinese herbal medicine have been posing grave threat to the development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry. This article presents a review on the occurring situation of the root rot disease, including the occurrence of the disease, the diversity of the pathogens, the regional difference in dominant pathogens,and the complexity of symptoms and a survey of the progress in bio-control of the disease using antagonistic microorganisms. The paper also discusses the existing problems and future prospects in the research.

A multiplex real-time PCR was developed to detect ctxA of Vibrio cholerae, gyrB and tdh of Vibrio parahaemolyticus simultaneously. The multiplex real-time PCR were evalidated by detection for the three genes in 47 toxigenic V. cholerae O1 and O139 strains (ctxA+; O1=3, O139=44), 25 non-toxigenic V. cholerae strains (ctxA-; O1=12, O139=6, non-O1 and non-O139=7), 116 V. parahaemolyticus strains with or without tdh (73 or 43) and 9 other bacteria strains. The specificity and sensitivity of the multiplex real-time PCR in detection for the ctxA and the tdh genes in the strains tested were both 100.0%, compared to the results by routine PCRs. In the detection for V. parahaemolyticus specific gyrB using the multiplex real-time PCR, all of 116 V. parahaemolyticus strains were positive, and 9 other strains and 72 V. cholerae strains were all negative. The multiplex real-time PCR is a sensitive, specific and quick assay not only for detecting virulence genes of V. cholerae and V. parahaemolyticus but also for identifying V. parahaemolyticus at species level. In addition, two real-time PCRs for detection of V. parahaemolyticus virulence genes trh1 and trh2 were also developed.

OBJECTIVETo develop a multiplex real-time PCR for the detection of Salmonella invasion protein A gene (invA), enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) heat-labile I enterotoxin gene (elt), and Shigella or enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC) invasive plasmid antigen H gene (ipaH).

METHODSUnder the optimized reaction conditions of the multiplex real-time PCR, invA, elt, and ipaH were determined in 10-fold series of dilution of DNA extracted from Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, ETEC 44815 strain and Shigella F301 strain. The three genes were examined in 90 fecal samples from diarrhea patients using the multiplex real-time PCR. When PCR-positive samples were found, the target strains were isolated and identified.

RESULTSThe detectable concentration for this multiplex real-time PCR was 10 CFU/microl for Shigella F301 strain, 10(2) CFU/microl for S. enterica serovar Typhimurium and ETEC 44815 strain, respectively. Out of 90 fecal samples from diarrhea patients, thirteen were found positive for elt gene (14.4%), and five were found positive for ipaH gene (5.6%). Three E. coli strains positive for elt gene and four E. coli strains positive for ipaH gene were isolated successfully from the PCR-positive samples mentioned above. The detection of invA, elt and ipaH genes was completed in 10 h, which included an enrichment period of 6 h.

CONCLUSIONThe multiplex real-time PCR assay can detect invA, elt, ipaH simultaneously in a single reaction, moreover, it can detect for virulence genes in strains of Salmonella, ETEC, and Shigella or EIEC and screen these pathogens in fecal specimens from patients with diarrhea with a high specificity.

A large number of bacteria were carried by mites parasitizing on animals and human,which including symbiotic and pathogenic bacteria.Mites were an important transmission media and could spread pathogenic bacteria.A total of 184 literatures were collected from database to analye diversity of bacteria carried by mites.There were about 105 species bacteria were carried by 94 mites.These bacteria belong to 9 phylums,22 orders,40 families and 55 genuses(including 17 pathogen and 20 opportunistic pathogen).In this paper,we reviewed the diversity of mites-associated bacteria,which could offer some data for investigation on the relationship between mites and mites-associate bacteria.

A simple, sensitive and reliable method was developed for simultaneous determination of ten banned drugs residues including zeranols(ZALs),chloroamphenicol,pentachlorophenol,etc. in swine urine using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The urine samples were pretreated using lyophilization and QuEChERS procedures, respectively. Acetonitrile and ammonium acetate (5 mmol/L) were chosen as mobile phases. Target compounds were separated well in ZorbaxSB-C18by following the optimized gradient elution program and determined by LC-MS/MS in negative electrospray ionization mode. The linearity of the matrix-matched standard curve of ten analytes in two methods was good in the range of the experimental concentration with correlation coefficients more than 0.99. The recoveries of ten drugs were in the range of 80.7%-107.7% and 73.5%-103.3% at the spiked levels of 5,10 and 20 μg/L by lyophilization and QuEChERS methods,respectively. The coefficients of variation were less than 15%. The limits of detection (LOD) and the limits of quantification (LOQ) from lyophilization and QuEChERS method were 0.1 to 2.0 μg/L and 0.2 to 5.0 μg/L,respectively.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the proper surgical management of pancreatic benign and low-grade malignant potential neoplasm.

METHODSThe experience of 72 cases who accepted organ preserving pancreatectomy from January 1990 to May 2010 was analyzed retrospectively. There were 24 male and 48 female, aged from 15 to 68 years with mean age of 46 years. There were 9 cases underwent duodenum-preserving resection of the head of the pancreas, 29 cases underwent spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy, 11 cases underwent middle segmental pancreatectomy, 23 cases underwent tumor extirpation of huge pancreatic cancer in pancreatic head and body.

RESULTSPancreatic fistula and biliary fistula in 1 case respectively were cured among who accepted duodenum-preserving resection of the head of the pancreas. Pancreatic fistula was found in 3 cases who accepted spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy. Pancreaticobiliary anastomotic bleeding in 1 case was cured among who accepted middle segmental pancreatectomy. Pancreatic fistula was found in 5 cases among who accepted tumor extirpation of huge pancreatic cancer in pancreatic head and body, and liver metastasis was found in 3 cases at 6, 12, 16 months after surgery respectively.

CONCLUSIONSOrgan preserving pancreatectomy can obviously reduce operative injury to patients, its therapeutic effect is similar to that of classical operation, it is the first option of benign and low-grade malignant potential neoplasm.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects and mechanism of Yishenjiangyafang, a prescription of Chinese traditional herbs used for renal hypertension, on blood pressure and protecting renal function of RPH rats.

METHODThe 5/6 kidney of rat was resected to set up the RPH rat model. Blood pressure, Cr(creatinine), Ccr(creatinine clearance) and BUN(urea nitrogen) were measured dynamically. After eight weeks treatment, plasma content of PAR A II TXB2, 6-keto-PGF1 were measured. At same time, The change of renal pathology was observed.

RESULTYishenjiangyafang could reduce blood pressure Cr, but had no effect on BUN of RPH rat. The indexes of PAR, A II of each different dosage group of Yishenjiangyafang were decreased. At the same time, it reduced plasma content of TXB2, and increased 6-keto-PGF1 alpha. Glomerulosclerosis and atrophy of renal tubule in Yishenjiangyafang group RPH rats were better than those of the contrast group and the Capten group.

CONCLUSIONYishenjiangyafang can reduce blood pressure of RPH rats and has protective effects on its kidney. Yishenjiangyafang can perform its effects of reducing blood pressure and protecting kidney by influencing the RAS of RPH rats.

Objective To master the prevalence status of schistosomiasis in Yunnan Province in 2016,so as to provide the evidence for formulating the control strategy and intervention measures. Methods The schistosomiasis heavy-endemic villages were selected from each of 18 endemic counties as the survey sites. Then,the serological and etiological tests were carried out in the local residents and floating population,and the infection status of the livestock,field feces and Oncomelania hupensis snails were surveyed. Results The serum positive rate of schistosomiasis of local residents was 8.78％and the serum positive rate was 2.26％of floating population. No schistosome eggs were found in the stool examinations in the population. The area with snails was 80.0546 hm2 in 2016 with an increasing rate of 45.47％compared to that in 2015. The average density of living snails was 0.0317/0.1 m2. No schistosome-infected snails were found for the last four years and no new area with snails was found for the last three years. No positive livestock or feces were found. Conclusions The schistosomiasis epidemic situation is stabilized in Yunnan Province in 2016. However,the area with snails and the number of living snails are increasing,and therefore,the schis-tosomiasis epidemic risk still exists. So,the comprehensive control measures should be strengthened continuously.
