Ten compounds were isolated from the artificially induced dragon's blood of Dracaena cambodiana by various column chromatographies on silica and sephadex LH-20 gel. Based on spectral analysis of NMR and MS, their structures were identified as 3, 4-dihydroxyallylbenzene (1), 3', 4', 5'-trimethoxycinnamylalcohol (2), pinoresinol (3), (2R)-7, 4'-dihydroxy-8-methylflavane (4), (2R)-7,4'-dihydroxy-5-methoxy-8-methylflavane(5),(2S)-7,3'-dihydroxy-4'-methoxy-8-methylflavane(6) ,(2S)-4',7-dihydroxy-6, 8-dimethylflavane(7), 4,2',4'-trihydroxychalcone(8), 4,4'-dihydroxy-2-methoxydihydrochalcon(9) and Cambodianin E (10). Antibacterial activity assay showed that compounds 1, 4 and 10 have inhibitory effect on Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cuben, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum and Ralstonia solanacearum.

This study aims to develop a method for determination of beta-elemene, curcumol, germacrone and neocurdione in the volatile oil of Curcuma phaeocaulis, and to provide the basis of the quality control method for the volatile oil of C. phaeocaulis and the related preparations. Based on GC-MS, the 4 main compounds were simultaneously determined, with the internal standard n-tridecane. The Agilent 19091S-433 column (0.25 microm x 250 microm x 30 m) was adopted at the temperature of 250 degrees C, the programmed temperature method (60 degrees C for 1 min, 5 degrees C x min x to 110 degrees C for 5 min, 1 degrees C x min(-1) to 140 degrees C, 5 degrees C x min(-1) to 160 degrees C, 10 degrees C x min(-1) to 240 degrees C) was used. Helium gas was used as the carrier gas at a constant flow rat of 1 mL x min(-1), with an injection volume of 1 RL. Mass spectra were taken at 70 eV; the ion-source temperature was 200 degrees C. The relation time and character acteristic ions for each target compound were determined by full scan mode and SIM, and m/z 85.1, 93.1, 121.1, 107.1 and 180.1 were the detection ions of n-tridecane, beta-elemene, curcumol, germacrone and neocurdione. As a result, beta-elemene, curcumol, germacrone and neocurdione were all detected with good separation. They were all in a good linear relationship within each concentration scope. The average recovery rates were in the range of 98.2%-101%. So, the method can be used to control the quality of the volatile of C. phaeocaulis Val. and the preparations related.

OBJECTIVETo observe the dynamic expression changes of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK), nucler facter kappa B (NF-κB) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in myocardial tissue after an exhausted exercise and study the impact of p38MAPK, NF-κB and COX-2 on its myocardial damage.

METHODSSixty Wister male rats were randomly divided into the control group (n = 10) and the exhausted exercise group (n = 50). Then the exhausted exercise group was further divided into 5 subgroups, namely 0 h, 3 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h after an exhausted exercise (n = 10). The myocardial injury animal model was set up by using an exhausted swimming exercise and the expression of p-p38MAPK, NF-κB and COX-2 were examined by Western blot.

RESULTSCompared with the control group, the expression of p-p38MAPK were increased significantly (P < 0.01) in all the groups and the 3 h group was the highest( P < 0.01); The expression of NF-κB were increased significantly (P < 0.05) in all the groups but 0 h P > 0.05) and the 6h group was increased significantly compared with the other groups( P < 0.05); The expression of COX-2 were increased significantly( P < 0.05) in all the groups but 0 h and the 24 h groups was increased significantly compared with the other groups(P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONp38MAPK was activated in an acute exhausted exercise, p-p38MAPK may play an important role in modulating NF-κB and COX-2 expression and mediating the exhausted exercise induced myocardial damage.

ObjectiveTo analyze the literature characteristics on essential hypertension treated by external therapy of traditional Chinese medicine, summarize the current research situation and trend in the field, and to provide a reference for relative researches.MethodsThe papers relevant to treatingessential hypertension with external therapy of TCM included inSinoMedwere statistically analyzed from the aspects of publishing year, journals distribution,author’s unit and districtdistribution,research funds and literature content with bibliometrics method.ResultsThe total number of the literature for analyzing was 226, the number of papers increased gradually.Authors of the papers were mainly from TCM universities or colleges.Papersdistributedmainly in the more economically developed regions,which issued the largest amountinGuangdongprovince.Papers supported by research funds accounted for 16.81% in all the literature. Most literaturewasclinical research and the most commonly used for external therapywasacupuncture.ConclusionThe research and clinical work of essential hypertension treatment with external therapy of traditional Chinese medicinewerepaid more close attention in recent years, but therewerestill some problems that need to be solvedto form a viable, effective treatment system.

Objective To analyze the long-term prognosis and prognostic factors of idiopathic collapsing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and not otherwise specified FSGS in children. Methods The clinical, pathology and follow-up data of patients with idiopathic collapsing FSGS and not otherwise specified FSGS were analyzed retrospectively by Kaplan-Meier method, univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis. Results A total of 64 patients (29 idiopathic collapsing FSGS and 35 not otherwise specified FSGS) were diagnosed by renal biopsy. The 4-year renal survival rate of idiopathic collapsing FSGS and not otherwise specified FSGS were 48.3%, 74.3% respectively. Univariate analysis revealed that the renal survival time were 25.41±3.28 months in idiopathic collapsing patients, and 35.53±2.73 months in not otherwise specified patients. The different is significant (χ2=4.07,P=0.044). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that poor treatment response (HR=5.92, P<0.05) and renal insufficiency at early stage (HR=2.45, P<0.05) were independent risk factors of prognosis. Conclusions Compared with patients with not otherwise specified FSGS, the renal survival time is shorter in idiopathic collapsing FSGS patients. Patients with renal insufficiency and poor response to treatment have poorer prognosis.

Objective To explore a new model of medical humanity education in new situation. Methods Extensive survey was carried out among medical students,and discussion and consultation were hold to faculty and education administers.A new teaching model was established. Results A curriculum system with 1 or 2 core courses supported by some elective courses and social practice is under the process of implementation and achieved preliminary success.Conclusion The medical humanity education should pay attention to the development of connotation instead of pursuing the extension of quantity blindly,which means that students' school work must be eased by focusing on self-study and self-education.Medical students'life path with high-minded personality training should be strengthened.

The value of snake venom polypeptides in clinical application has drawn extensive attention,and the development of snake polypeptides into new drugs with anti-tumor,anti-inflammatory,antithrombotic,analgesic or antihypertensive properties has become the recent research hotspot.With the rapid development of molecular biology and biotechnology,the mechanisms of snake venom polypeptides are also gradually clarified.Numerous studies have demonstrated that snake venom polypeptides exert their pharmacological effects by regulating ion channels,cell proliferation,apoptosis,intracellular signaling pathway,and expression of cytokine as well as binding to relevant active sites or receptors.

The quality markers (Q-markers) of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) have become a topic of interest in TCM research in recent years. Nonetheless, there is still no consensus on how to scientifically characterize TCM Q-markers. Our study establishes an identification method for TCM Q-markers based on the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and the entropy weight comprehensive method. By constructing an evaluation system encompassing the target layer, the factor layer and the control layer, AHP can be used to analyze the weight of three core TCM quality attributes, including effectiveness, testability and specificity. Following that, the entropy weight method is employed to analyze the specific indicators for each attribute based on the literature and experimental data. Finally, the comprehensive weight of each index is obtained by combining the two weights, and the comprehensive weight and the specific value of each component is multiplied and summed to obtain the integrated score ranking, and thereby identify the TCM Q-markers. Taking Shaoyao Gancao decoction as an example, the analysis revealed that the top 8 components are as follows: paeoniflorin > quercetin > albiflorin > glycyrrhizic acid > naringenin > liquiritin > oxypaeoniflorin > benzoylpaeoniflorin, and can be identified as Q-markers of Shaoyao Gancao decoction. This study not only provides support for the establishment of quality standards and process quality control of TCM formulae, but also provides innovative ideas and methods for quantitative evaluation and accurate identification of TCM Q-markers.

Objective To find the scientific and safe blood specimen collection method by comparing two methods and to ensure the efficiency and quality of pharmacokinetic blood specimen collection.Methods 248 volunteers participating the clinical pharmacology experiment were randomly divided into control group and experimental group with 124 volunteers in each group.6 118 blood samples were collected in both groups.In the control group,blood was taken by intravenous catheter needle with 5 ml disposable sterile syringes.However,blood was collected with vacuum blood collection method that took blood by disposable venous blood-taking needle at the experimental group.Hemolysis,delay in collection time,insufficient quantities of specimen,contamination and needle injuries were compared in two groups.Results Hemolysis,delay in collection time,insufficient quantity of sample,contamination and needle injuries in the control group (304,92,1 530,765cases) were all significantly higher than the experimental group (25,15,122,21 cases),the differences were statistically significant ( x2 =243.136 2,55.900 0,1 387.346 4,750.324 7,respectively; P ＜ 0.01 ).Conclusions Disposable venous blood-taking needle is safe and highly effective in pharmacokinetic blood specimen collection.It is worthy to be utilized at the Phase Ⅰ clinical trial ward.

A 53-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for verrucous hyperplasia on the circular sulcus for 2 years as well as erythematous painful swelling, ulcer and rupture of inguinal lymph nodes for more than 2 months. Physical examination revealed erythematous, indurated and painful swelling of bilateral inguinal lymph nodes. Fluctuation could be felt at the centre of the right swollen inguinal lymph nodes, where several pores were seen with yellowish-white purulent fluid flowing out, giving the appearance of a watering can. Multiple swollen or ulcerative lymph nodes were separated by the inguinal ligament forming the groove sign.There were irregular, indurated, verrucous, proliferative and keratinized lesions sized 1 cm × 2 cm on both sides of the circular sulcus. The right scrotum was obviously swelling. Erythematous, fluctuating swelling, ulcer and rupture of the glans fraenum were also observed with yellowish-white purulent exudates. Neither the secretion from the skin lesions on the surface of bilateral inguinal lymph nodes nor the puncture sample from the right groin was positive for multiple fungal or bacterial culture, acid-fast stain or first culture of C. trachomatis.However, the endogenous plasmid of Chlamydia was successfully amplified by PCR from these samples, and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of the major outer membrane protein (MOMP) suggested that the genotype of the Chlamydia strain was L3. Western blot revealed the presence of anti-MOMP antibodies and anti-Pmp H antibodies (titer: ＞ 1: 800) in serum. Culture of C. trachomatis also gave positive results after multiple passage. Biopsy of the verrucous hyperplasia on the right groin is consistent with well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the skin. A diagnosis of lymphogranuloma venereum complicated by cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma was made.
