1.Status of libraries and databases for natural products at abroad.
China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2015;40(1):29-35
For natural products are one of the important sources for drug discovery, libraries and databases of natural products are significant for the development and research of natural products. At present, most of compound libraries at abroad are synthetic or combinatorial synthetic molecules, resulting to access natural products difficult; for information of natural products are scattered with different standards, it is difficult to construct convenient, comprehensive and large-scale databases for natural products. This paper reviewed the status of current accessing libraries and databases for natural products at abroad and provided some important information for the development of libraries and database for natural products.

This study was carried out to determine the inhibitory effects of phytate on the bioavalaibility of calcium (Ca), ferum (Fe)
dan zink (Zn) in selected soy-based products. Phytate exerts its inhibitory effects on the absorption of minerals such as
Ca, Fe and Zn by forming insoluble and undigestible complexes. The inhibitory effect of phytate on the bioavailability
of minerals like Ca, Fe and Zn was estimated by measuring their molar ratios. Phytate content was determined by using
anion-exchange method while mineral contents were determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Soybased
products were bought from the night markets and food stall located at Cheras and Sri Rampai, Kuala Lumpur.
Each samples from both location was analysed in duplicates. Results from this study showed that soy cake and all dishes
containing tempe did not contain phytate content. This may due to the presence of R. oligosporus that produces phytase
and hydrolysed the phytate content during the fermentation process of tempe. There were fi ve food samples that have a
phytate/ Ca molar ratio > 0.24, ten food samples with a phytate/ Fe molar ratio > 1, eight food samples have a phytate/
Zn molar ratio >15 and one food sample has a [phytate x Ca]/ Zn molar ratio > 200. The result of molar ratio phytate/
mineral in this study estimated the low bioavailability of Ca, Fe and Zn. In conclusion, soy cake and all dishes containing
tempe contained high bioavailability of minerals, while tau-hoo pok contained low bioavailability of minerals
5.Comparative Study on the Standard Decoction of Yinqiao Powder
Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2006;0(04):-
Objective To compare the four kinds of Yinqiao Powder prepared by archaic decoction,Japan standard decoction, medical institution decoction and decoction combined archaic with modern technology, select the best method and provide the important theory basis for standardization of decoction technics of diaphoretic recipes. Methods The major contents of traditional Chinese medicine were determined by HPLC and used as the evaluating indicator as well as the ratio of dry extraction. Results The method of archaic decoction got the highest synthetic scores, and the validating experimental result was stable. Conclusion The preparation method of archaic decoction could be used as the reference standard for preparation technology of Yinqiao Powder,in order to further standardize the preparation of the standard decoction of diaphoretic recipes.
6.Determination of tanshinone Ⅱ_A and salvianolic acid B in Chaidan Jieyu Granules by HPLC gradient elution
Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(03):-
AIM: To determine tanshinone Ⅱ_A and salvianolic acid B by HPLC gradient elution. METHODS: HPLC was used with Hypersil-ODS C_(18) column(150 mm?4.6 mm,5 ?m).The mobile phase consisted of methanol-water 0~20 min(35-90:6510),20-25 min(90-95:10-5),25-30 min(95:5)gradient elution. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min with column temperature at 30 ℃.The UV detection wavelength was at 286 nm in 0-20 min and 270 nm in 20-30 min, respectively. RESULTS: The linear range of tanshinone Ⅱ_A and salvianolic acid B were in the range of 0.014 448-0.096 32(r=0.999 97), and 0.198 6-3.972 ?g(r=0.999 94),respectively.The average recoveries were 99.62%(RSD=2.28%) and 100.58%(RSD=2.5%),respectively.(CONCLUSION:) The method is accurate、sensitive、reproducible, and suitable for the quality control of Chaidan Jieyu Granules.

8. Optimization of tilianin loaded solid lipid nanoparticles and its absorption and transport study in Caco-2 cell model
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2017;48(10):2051-2060
Objective: To prepare and optimize tilianin loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (T-SLNs), and investigate the physicochemical properties, absorption and transport behavour of T-SLNs in vitro. Methods: T-SLNs were prepared by high shear homogenization followed by ultrasonication and optimized by central composite design and response surface methodology. In the study, the physicochemical properties of T-SLNs including size, polydispersity (PDI), Zeta potential, shape, entrapment efficiency and release profile in vitro were investigated, the absorption and transport behavour of T-SLNs in Caco-2 cell model were also measured. Results: The optimum formulation of T-SLNs consisted of: drug/lipid of 0.11, soy lecithin/lipid of 1.26, and content of tween-80 was 5.05%. The prepared T-SLNs were spherical and uniform with the mean particle diameter at (86.40 ± 0.62) nm, PDI (0.165 ± 0.080) and Zeta potential of (-24.2 ± 0.6) mV, respectively. The average EE was (89.81 ± 1.07)%, and the release in vitro showed that tilianin was released about (98.72 ± 1.57)% in 48 h. Besides, the absorption and transport assays of T-SLNs in Caco-2 cells model indicated that T-SLNs had a higher absorption and transport than tilianin. Conclusion: The method of high shear homogenization followed by ultrasonication is suitable for T-SLNs preparation. The optimal T-SLNs have a smaller particle size and high EE. Moreover, in the same concentration of tilianin, the absorption and transport amounts of T-SLNs in Caco-2 cell model were higher than tilianin.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2012;32(2):218-220
ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of postconditioning with Shenmai-injectio on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats.MethodsThirty-six healthy male SD rats aged 10-12 weeks weighing 240-260 g were randomly divided into 3 groups ( n =12 each):sham operation group (group S) ; myocardial I/R group and Shenmai-injectio postconditioning group (group SPO).Myocardial I/R was produced by ligation of the left anterior descending branch of coronary artery for 30 min followed by 120 min reperfusion in groups I/R and SPO.In group SPO Shenmai-injectio 9 ml/kg was injected iv at the end of 30 min ischemia.Blood samples were collected from abdominal aorta at the end of 120 min reperfusion for determination of serum CK activity and cTnI concentration. The animals were then sacrificed.Myocardial specimens were obtained for microscopic examination, detection of apoptosis and determination of myocardial Bcl-2 and Bax protein expression ( by immuno-histochemis-try).ResultsMyocardial I/R significantly increased serum CK activity,cTnI concentration, apoptotic index (percentage of apoptotic cells) and Bax protein expression and decreased Bcl-2 protein expression in group I/R as compared with group S.Shenmai-injectio postconditioning significantly attenuated I/R-induced above changes and ameliorated histo-pathological damage in group SPO as compared with group I/R.ConclusionShenmai-injectiopostconditioning can reduce myocardial I/R injury by up-regulating Bcl-2 expression and down-regulating Bax expression, leading eventually to reduction in apoptosis.
