OBJECTIVE To investigate the impact of disinfection quality in surgical dressing room on the healing of wound with dressing exchanges in order to implement procedures to prevent nosocomial infection. METHODS A retrospective investigation was performed and cases of poor surgical wound healing from Jan 2006 to Dec 2007 were collected and analised. Effective measures were taken to enhance the management and surveillance in the dressing room. RESULTS After taking the prevention procedure, the passing rate of disinfection was increased. Before implementing the prevention procedure the passing rates of air, surface and finger cultured were 83.3%,83.3% and 75.0%,respectively,After taking the prevention procedure the passing rates of above were all 100.0%.The rate of poor wound healing decreased from 4.16% to 1.59%. CONCLUSIONS The disinfection quality of dressing room has direct effects on the wound healing. The management of dressing room disinfection should be emphasized to cut down the nosocomial infections of wound.

Objective To investigate the effects of Dishevelled (DVL) on apoptosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cell line OCI-Ly10, and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods Lentivirus plasmid overexpressing DVL2 was constructed, and after virus was packaged, it was transfected into OCI-Ly10 cells. Flow cytometry was used to detect the apoptosis rate of OCI-Ly10 cells with or without the stimulation by TNF-α recombinant protein. Then the gene expression of anti-apoptotic genes, GADD45β and A20, in NF-κB pathway was detected by RT-PCR. Results The virus was sucessfully transfected into OCL-Ly10 cells which overexpressed DVL2. The apoptosis rate of OCL-Ly10 cells overexpressing DVL2 without the stimulation by TNF-α was increased compared with that of the negative control group [(15.46 ±2.37) % vs. (11.72±3.53)%, P=0.03], the A20 mRNA expression level was decreased compared with that of the negative control group [(0.66 ±0.01) vs. 1, P=0.04], and the relative expression level of GADD45β mRNA was not significantly decreased compared with that of the negative control group [(0.79 ±0.15) vs. 1, P=0.642]. The apoptosis rate of DVL2 overexpression OCI-Ly10 cells stimulated by TNF-α was significantly higher than that of the negative control group treated by TNF-α [(22.78±4.56)%vs. (12.79±2.89)%, P=0.007]. The gene expression of A20 and GADD45β in DVL2 overexpression cells stimulated by TNF-α was significantly increased, however, the magnitude of increase in DVL2 overexpression cells was less than that in the negative control group treated by TNF-α [A20: (3.75 ±0.14) times vs. (6.89 ±0.10) times, P=0.008; GADD45β:(4.750±0.21) times vs. (6.14±0.08) times, P=0.03]. Conclusion DVL can promote the apoptosis of OCI-Ly10 cells, and its mechanism may be related with anti-apoptotic genes that inhibits its downstream via NF-κB pathway.

Objective To identify myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) from non-MDS (mainly non-clonal cytopenias) by flow cytometric (FCM) score. Methods Four parameters (CD34+ myeloblast-related and B-progenitor-related cluster size, myeloblast CD45 expression and granulocyte side scatter value) were rated on 50 patients with MDS and 20 patients with non-clonal cytopenias.A diagnosis of MDS was formulated in the presence of FCM score value ≥ 2 (every abnormal parameter was scored 1).Results When compared with non-clonal cytopenias, patients with MDS had increased myeloblast-related cluster size and decreased B-progenitor-related cluster size, and had a lower granulocyte side scatter (P < 0.05),but no significant difference was found when myeloblast CD45 expression was compared (P =0.06).The FCM score value was significant higher in MDS patients (P < 0.001).45 cases were correctly classified (sensitivity 90 %).There was 1 false-positive case among 20 controls (specificity 95 %).Conclusion The FCM score may help to establish the diagnosis of MDS,and it is simple and feasible.

Objective To analyze the schistosomiasis endemic situation and understand its transmission trend in Jiangling County from 2004 to 2013 so as to improving the schistosomiasis control. Methods The relevant data of schistosomiasis were collected and analyzed statistically in Jiangling county from 2004-2013. Results The human prevalence of schistosomiasis was decreased from 10.22%in 2004 to 0.63%in 2013 with the descend rate of 93.84% and the notable descend rate was 76.92%from 2009-2013. The cattle infection rate was decreased yearly from 7.59%in 2004 to 0 in 2013. The appearance rate of frames with living Oncomelaniahupensissnails and the infection rate of snails reduce by 17.53%and 100%respectively. Conclusions Af?ter 10?year control the endemic situation of schistosomiasis in Jiangling County decreases and is at a low level. However the risk factors of transmission still exist. Therefore the comprehensive control measures still should be enhanced continuously.

In the ApoE(-/-) mouse model of atherosclerosis (AS) stable plaque, the expression and location of intracellular tissue factor (TF) in the cellular components of AS stable plaque were investigated in order to explore the cellular mechanism of AS thrombosis. Pathological changes of the stable plaque were observed under a microscope. The expression of TF protein was examined in aortic stable plaque of mice by using immunohistochemistry. Color image planimetric system was used to analyze the histological components of the stable plaque and the TF distribution. Under the confocal microscope, the intracellular TF location in the stable plaque of mice was observed. The results showed the cellular area was the major part of stable plaque (67.36%+/-6.52%, P<0.01). The percentage of total area occupied by cellular area was significantly larger than atheromatous gruel and acellular area (P<0.01). Macrophages and smooth muscle cells (SMC) were major cells in the cellular area. The percentage of total area occupied by SMC was significantly larger than by macrophages (P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed there was a positive correlation between TF area and SMC area (r=0.616, P=0.008), and no correlation was found between TF area and macrophage area (r=0.437, P=0.08). Pictures of color image planimetric analysis of TF and SMC were merged to highlight areas with co-localization (yellow), it was concluded that the process could be a cell-mediated TF expression in the stable plaque. SMC may be the major source of TF in AS without plaque rupture.

Cardiac toxicity is found in frequently used chemotherapeutic agents. There are many factors related to the cardiac toxicity caused by chemotherapeutic agents. The common cardiovascular complications include heart failure, ischemia, hypertension, hypotension, edema,QT prolongation, pleural effusion, pericardial effusion, bradyarrhythmia and thromboembolism. It is necessary to monitor the left ventricular function before and after chemotherapy and take effective measures to protect myocardium.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2009;15(4):338-340
The effects of subclinical epileptiform discharges (SEDs) on children with cerebral palsy cannot be ignored. Data from neurodevelopmental clinic studies showed that the overall incidence of SEDs in cerebral palsy was 18%~40%, with the highest in spastic hemiplegia and diplegia. The major pattern of SEDs was focal and multifocal, and was usually found in centro-temporal and parietal regions. The cortex impairment and other complications were risk factors related to SEDs in cerebral palsy. Paroxysmal or frequent long-time SEDs, with the Results of transient or chronic cognitive impairment, have been found to lead to subsequent death of cortical neurons of cerebral palsy patients thereby worsening their prognosis. Valproic acid (VPA), benzodiazepines (BZs) and lamotrigine (LTG) have a role in inhibiting SEDs, while adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and glucocorticoids have a great role in it.
