2.Surgical ciliated cyst of the maxilla: a rare pathology of the maxillary sinus
Archives of Orofacial Sciences 2017;12(2):1-5
Surgical ciliated cyst of the maxilla is a rare complication following surgical procedures or trauma
involving the maxillary sinus. It can occur at any time after any procedures or trauma involving the maxillary
sinus even though many years have lapsed. Clinically it may mimic other cysts of the maxillary sinus
therefore a thorough history taking is necessary for diagnosis. Treatment is usually by enucleation or
marsupialisation. This report highlighted a case of surgical ciliated cyst involving the right maxillary sinus
probably secondary to maxillary sinus procedures, which were performed 30 years prior to presentation.

Journal of Rhinology 2010;17(2):121-123
The fungal ball usually occurs in a single sinus, most frequently in the maxillary sinus, and multiple sinus localization has rarely been reported? Recently, the authors experienced a rare case of multiple fungal balls involving three sinuses that were not contiguous, the bilateral maxillary sinuses and right sphenoid sinus. The patient had a history of endodontic treatment. We report this rare case with a literature review.

Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology 2013;6(2):114-116
Carcinosarcoma is a highly malignant tumor characterized by dual malignant histologic differentiation of epithelial and mesenchymal components. The tumor is extremely rare in the sinonasal tract. We report a case of a 62-year-old man with carcinosarcoma involving the maxillary sinus.

Journal of Rhinology 2005;12(2):124-128
An organized hematoma in the maxillary sinus can be formed by organizing procedure of hematoma in the unaerated maxillary sinus. It is a rare disorder of unknown etiology. Clinical symptoms, signs, and radiologic appearance of the hematoma mimick tumors at the initial diagnosis. An expansile organized hematoma in the maxillary sinus may induce erosion or destruction of the maxillary bony wall. Therefore, it may be difficult to distinguish such lesion from malignant tumors. We report two cases of an organized hematoma in the maxillary sinus presenting with erosion of the maxillary sinus wall with a brief review of the literature.
