2.Current Status of Basic Research in Orthopaedics.

4.Hundred years development and future prospect of the material science for hernia.

Inguinal hernia is a defect disease in the abdominal wall. Surgeons have tried various ways to repair the defect for more than 100 years. The traditional herniorrhaphy destroys the normal anatomical structure, and the recurrence rate is quite high. After that, surgeons began to repair the defects with prostheses, from the initial use of rough metal materials such as silver, tantalum, stainless steel, to nylon, fiberglass, silicone rubber and other non-metallic materials, and also from artificial synthetic polymer non-absorbable materials such as polypropylene, polyester, ePTFE, to synthetic absorbable materials such as polyglycolic acid and the acellular extracellular matrix derived from biological meshes. However, these prostheses still can not meet the diverse needs of patients. Thus, multifunctional composite prostheses consisting of two or more materials were born, and various types of composite prostheses, stem cell coating meshes, 3D meshes, microstructure meshes were developed. The repair method evolved from traditional hernia repair to tension-free hernia repair and laparoscopic hernia repair. Surgeons are dedicated to finding idealized meshes for the perfect repair of defects, while considering postoperative complications, patient's quality of life, long-term efficacy and other issues. In the face of a wide variety of repair materials, the choice of surgeons is blind, and there is no standard to determine which prostheses are suitable for patients. Therefore, we have combed the development of different types of prostheses, summarized the development process of hernia repair materials for the past 100 years, and put forward the prospects for future development of prostheses, in order to provide reference for the selection of prostheses.

5.Effect of moulding and extruding conditions on mechanical properties of poly(D,L-lactide) and MDI chain-extending poly(D,L-lactide)/hydroxyapatite composite.

In this paper, poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA), MDI chain-extending poly(D,L-lactide) (PDLLA/MDI) and MDI chain-extending poly(D,L-lactide)/hydroxyapatite composite (PDLLA/HA/MDI) were prepared respectively and the effects of moulding and extruding conditions on their mechanical properties were also investigated. At the optimal conditions, bending strength of PDLLA and PDLLA/MDI is 35.1 MPa and 51.3 MPa, respectively, and their bending modulus is 2413.6 MPa and 1830.9 MPa, respectively. Bending strength of PDLLA/HA and PDLLA/HA/MDI is 31.2 MPa and 55.4 MPa, respectively, and their bending modulus is 1735.0 MPa and 2068.5 MPa, respectively. These results have shown that the mechanical properties of PDLLA/MDI and PDLLA/HA/MDI have enhanced significantly by MDI chain-extending.

6.Science of Acupuncture and Moxibustion should include standards related to acupuncture and moxibustion.

The development of Science of Acupuncture and Moxibustion should be in accord with the trend of standardization and internationalization of the science of acupuncture and moxibustion. Based on the arrangement of chapters and sections in the textbook, 29 national standards, 6 standards or guidelines made by World Health Or- ganization(WHO) and 1 standard out of International Standardization Organization (ISO) are classified and intro- duced. It is suggested that the above contents should be considered as the evidence when the textbook is reedited. Also, it is proposed that humanization should be supplemented and the newest research findings should be traced.

Various concepts of acupoints should strive to be strict and terse; location of acupoints should be accurate and conform to clinical practice and reduce errors; the new edition The Channels, Collaterals and Acupoints Science should reasonably select and supplement for extra-ordinary points; increase explanation of the point name, function of acupoints, and association of acupoints; enrich the contents of acupuncture manipulation; reasonably increase and reduce extracts of ancient and modern reports to conform to development of the new age.
