AIM:To determine the content of the trace arsenic and mercury in Fructus Mume and Fructus Mume charcoal. METHODS:Atomic fluorescence spectrometry was used. RESULTS:The content of arsenic in Fructus Mume is 0.0597～1.0001 mg?g -1, that of mercury is 0.0198～0.0300 mg?g -1. CONCLUSION:This method is simple to handle, the quantitative analysis is accurate.

Femoral neck fractures in pediatric fractures account for less than 1% which is very rare, and its mechanism is commonly caused by high-energy trauma. If children with femoral neck fracture cannot receive timely and effective treatment, they are at high risk of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (AVN), coxa vara, bone nonunion, premature physeal closure, leg length discrepancy and other complications. Surgical treatment is currently preferred over conservative treatment, which has a higher complication rate. Among them, AVN is one of the most common and the most difficult complications to manage. So far, no effective treatment measures and reliable predictors have been reported, and the related factors affecting the occurrence of AVN have also been controversial. Once femoral head necrosis occurs in children, the prognosis is not ideal due to the lack of appropriate treatment methods. Therefore, this paper reviews the research progress on the related factors of AVN after femoral neck fracture in children based on the literature reports in the past decade.

The discovery of microRNAs (miRNAs) has introduced a new paradigm into gene regulatory systems. Since inception, computational methods have been an invaluable tool complementing experimental approaches, and many discoveries have been obtained through combination of experimental and computational approaches. The knowledge that has been accumulated about the principles of miRNAs and target recognition were reviewed. The currently available computational methodologies and software for prediction of miRNA and their target genes also have been discussed.

ObjectiveTo investigate the capacity and diagnostic value of various MRI seguences in patients with trigeminal neuralgia.Methods MR images of 60 patients with trigeminal neuralgia were analyzed retrospectively.The sensitivity,specificity and diagnostic value of various MRI sequences were evaluated comparing with clinical data and operation results.All patients were scanned with conventional sequences including SE-T1WI,T2WI,FLAIR of head.Among them,9 cases were injected with contrast agent,49 cases were scanned with 3D-TOF and 3D-TSE sequences on cerebellopontine angle additinally.The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of the 3D-TOF and 3D-TSE sequences were analyzed by using the x2 test.Results Six cases with tumor,3 cases with radiculitis and meningitis,1 case with multiple sclerosis and 1 case with pons infarction were diagnosed by conventional MR sequences.MRI of 49 cases with 3D-TOF and 3D-TSE showed neurovascular compress proved by operation.The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of 3D-TOF and 3D-TSE were 95.3％ (41/43)vs.95.6％ (43/45),66.7％ (4/6)vs.50.0％(2/4) and 91.8％ (45/49)vs.91.8％ (45/49),and no significantly difference was found between the two sequences (x2 =0.13,0.19 and 0.17,P ＞0.5).ConclusionsMRI plays an important role in displaying the causes and diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia.The conventional head MR sequences should be recommended for diagnosis of secondary TN caused by tumor and inflammation et al,and further 3D-TOF and 3D-TSE with high sensitivity and accuracy should be applied in patients with primary TN to display the neurovascular relationship.

Objective To investigate the correlation of serum uric acid (SUA) level with the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS). Methods A random, multi-stage cross-sectional study was performed in 2364 resuden, aged from 20 to 74, in Lanzhou, Gansu province.The resudents were divided into groups according to the level of SUA or 4 components of MS. The relationship between SUA and MS was analyzed. Results The overall morbidity of MS was 20.13 % in Lanzhou , and the morbidity of MS was higher in female than that in male (23.22% vs. 17.37%, P < 0.05);The prevalences of MS was higher in the hyperuricemia (HUA) people than that in the healthy people (32.40 % vs. 17.70 %,P < 0.05); With the increase of SUA level, the morbidity rates of MS and its components increased;The risk of MS showed a gradual increase with the SUA level, the risk of MS(odds ratio,95%CI)in sex-specific quartiles of SUA was 2.33(1.45 ~ 3.71),2.33(1.45 ~3.71),2.44(1.53 ~ 3.89)in male;and 1.58(0.97~2.56),2.54(1.60 ~ 4.00),5.29(3.41 ~ 8.22)in female. The more the components of MS , the higher the SUA level was found for both the male and the female subjects , with the higher rate of HUA morbidity(P < 0.05). Conclusion There is a significant association between SUA level and MS, as well as the MS components. Comprehensive prevention and control should be taken for the reduction of the risk factors, and much attention should be paid to monitor the SUA level.

Three candidate antisense target sites of mouse Fas gene were screened by PARASS (poly-A anchored RNA accessible sites screening) technology. They were target at Fas gene 297nt-317nt, 618nt- 638nt and 662nt-682nt. Antisense oligos (A1, A2 and A3) and DNAzymes (D1, D2, and D3) for every target site were designed and synthesized. In vitro, the validation of the sites were judged by antisense oligos included RNase H splicing and the DNAzyme degradation. The results indicated that A1, A2 and A3 introduced RNase H degradation. DNAzymes D1, D2 and D3 cleaved Fas mRNA effectively. Neither degradation observed in antisense oligo RNase H group in non-target site (1211-1231nt) and 2 bases mismatched of A3, nor splicing occurred in DNzyme group in non-target site ( 1211-1231nt) and 2 bases mismatched of D3. Site 2 and 3 were at the same positions with those of ISIS Pharmaceuticals. The effective antisense oligos and DNAzymes for Fas gene could be used for the research subsequently.

Objective To investigate histopathological changes and expression of integrin ?1 of sternomastoid muscle,and probe the mechanism and significance during disease process in congenital muscular torticollis(CMT).Methods Histopathological changes of sternomastoid muscle section stained with HE and Gomori silver staining were observed and the expression of integrein ?1 with immunohistochemistry was detected,and the expressive quantity and distribution with image analysis system was quantitive analyzed.Results 1.With light microscopy observation,the results showed that the fibrous degeneration of sternomastoid muscle could be summed up 2 kinds: A category displayed the myocytes atrophyed,and there were lots of connective tissue hyperplasy around myocytes,and the direction of fibrous arrangement was disordered,meanwhile there were lots of vessels and nervers hyperplasy,and eventually the myocytes shrank back and disappeared.B category displayed that the structure of cross striation or sarcomere disappeared or changed,and myocytes could maintained the outline and the sarcolemma were integrated,and then fibrous pathological changes of myocyte took place,and there were lots of fibroblast-like that had much more enations between fiber bundles.With Gomori silver staining,the major changes of fibrotic sternomastoid muscle showed that there were lots of collagenous fibers hyperplasy.The arrangements of collagenous fibers were disordered in A category and were well-arranged in B ca-tegory.2.With immunohistochemistry,the results showed the expression of integrin ?1 was weak positive in normal control group(125.7?5.167).In diseased groups,the results showed 3 different extents:the expression of integrin ?1 displayed stronger positive in A category myocytes(30.15?6.543),and the level of expression was significantly different from normal controls(P0.05).Conclusions The fibrous pathological changes of sternomastoid muscle are a complicated and gradually process,which may has different mode,and ingetrin ?1 may participated the process of pathological changes.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect and complications of total hip replacement (THR) in novel femoral neck fracture,old femoral neck fracture, aseptic necrosis of femoral head and coxa degenerative osteoarthropathy. To provide instructions to surgical indications and treatment effects analysis.Methods One hundrde and four patients were divided into 4 groups by disease type: novel femoral neck fracture group (n = 32 ), old femoral neck fracture group (n = 22) ,aseptic necrosis of femoral head group (n =34) and coxa degenerative osteoarthropathy group (n = 16). These patients were followed-up for 12 - 144 months after THR, their Harris standard score and complications data, before and after operation, were analyzed retrospectively. Results After operation, the Harris standard scores were 92. 6 ± 5.8,90. 1 ± 5. 2,86. 3 ± 4. 6,81.9 ±4. 1 in novel femoral neck fracture,old femoral neck fracture,aseptic necrosis of femoral head and coxa degenerative osteoarthropathy groups respectively, which were significantly higher than the scores before operation (25.6±1.8,36.7±2.6,52.9±4.3,42. 1 ±3.8,Ps ＜0.05). Conclusion THR has good effects in the four types of diseases. Short length of stay and high healing rate are marked characteristics of THR. More attention shoud be paid to the complications of THR.
