AIM:To detect the effect and underlying mechanism of parthenolide ( PN) on neointimal hyperpla-sia.METHODS:After 1 week of high-fat feeding, 30 male New Zealand white rabbits (2.0~2.3 kg) were randomly di-vided into 6 groups: sham +NS, rabbits received 0.9% normal saline after sham operation; sham +DMSO, rabbits re-ceived DMSO after sham operation;balloon injury(BI)+NS, rabbits received NS after balloon injury;BI+DMSO, rabbits received DMSO after balloon injury;BI+PN low, rabbits received PN at 1 mg/kg after balloon injury;BI+PN high, rab-bits received PN at 2 mg/kg after balloon injury .The drugs were intraperitoneal injected once a day after the operation until sacrifice. After fed with high-fat diet for 4 weeks, the intima-media thickness, the expression of caspase-1, IL-1β, the lev-els of IL-8, TC, TG, LDL and HDL in the serum were measured .RESULTS:Compared with sham +DMSO group, the thickness of intima, the amount of caspase-1, IL-1βand IL-8 in BI +DMSO group were significantly increased ( P <0.05).The levels of caspase-1, IL-1βand IL-8 were significantly decreased in BI +PN high group compared with BI +DMSO group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Neointimal hyperplasia is suppressed by PN after balloon injury , the potential mechanism may be associated with its anti-inflammatory role .

Objective To study the effects of Xuanbaichengqi decoction on the regulation of inflammatory factors TNF-α and IL-1 β in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and its mechanism. Methods 60 patients with ARDS who had been hospitalized from January 2016 to August 2016 were randonly selected and then assigned to a control group (30 patients) and a study group (30 patients). Both groups received routine therapies and mechanical ventilation, and the study group received additional Xuanbaichengqi decoction.Levels of TNF-o,IL-1β and IL-10,and peak inspiratory pressure (PIP),plateau airway pressure (Pplat),PVC,forced vital capacity (FVC),forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV 1),and oxygenation index (PaO2/FiO2) were detected before and after treatment. Results Levels of TNF-α and IL-1βwere significantly lower in the study group than in the control group (P < 0.05).IL-10 level was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (P < 0.05).And the improvement in PIP and Pplat was also significant in the study group (P < 0.05).Less adverse reactions occurred in the study group. Conclusions Xuanbaichengqi decoction can improve the indexes for respiratory mechanics and pulmonary function in patients on mechanical ventilation and reduce the inflammatory response, having a significant effect.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2000;0(06):-
Prolactin (PRL) is a multi-functional hormone mainly from pituitary gland. PRL receptors exist ubiquitously in all tissues and organs of immune system and PRL modulates local and systemic immune activities. PRL is involved in many physiological and pathological immune responses. The function of PRL in autoimmune diseases, organ transplantation and tumor occurrence has been explored in recent years. This article is to review the progress of prolactin in the immunology-related field.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and complications of nonmyeloablative stem cell transplantation(NST) for the treatment of nonmalignant haematologic diseases with high-risk rejection. Methods NST was performed for two patients with severe aplastic anemia(SAA) and one with beta-thalassemia major(TM).The protocal was designed on transplantation of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF) primed allogeneic bone marrow cells combined with perpheral blood stem cells(PBSCs) for two SAA patients, with conditioning regimen based on anti-lymphocyte globulin and reduced dose of cyclophosphamide(CTX).One TM patient was performed transplantation of PBSCs with conditioning regimen of anti-T-lymphocyte globulin(ATG),fludarabine and reduced dose of busulfan.Cyclosporin A combined with methylprednisone was used for graft-versus-host disease(GVHD) prophylaxis.Donor stem cells infusion(DSI) were underwent for three patients at 78,99 and 44 days post transplant respectively. Results Three patients achieved engraftment successfully with mixed chimera and the lowest white blood cell(WBC) of 0.26?10~9/L,0.5?10~9/L and 1.26?10~9/L respectively. The absolute neutrophil count achieved more than 0.5?10~9/L and platelet count achieved more than 20?10~9/L at days of 12d,3d,0d and 1d,5d,0d post transplant in three patients, respectively. The haematopoiesis and chimera were improved after DSI without complications of infection and GVHD in three patients. Conclusion The stem cells engraftment is achieved successfully with donor stem cell infusion followed NST for the treatment of nonmalignant haematologic disease patients with high-risk rejection.

Objectives Research into effect on PBL model in prosthodontics education. Methods The PBL model was performed in education of a part of prosthodontics, and education effect was evaluated by table analysis. Results PBL model is proved to be better than the multimedia education model in the training of students'self-study ability, learning initiative,problem-analyzing and problem-solving competence, and the team spirit etc.Conclution Comparaed with the multimedia education model,PBL model is of significance in some respects.

We present the binding ability of a new peptide (CMPQVMPMC-) with dental enamel after being evaluated in the present study. Under a standard procedure, the recovery of M13 filamentous phage was greatly enhanced by displaying the peptide in phage coat protein p III. Then the cyclic peptide was synthesized using a solid method. The effect of the cyclic peptide in vitro biomineralization was tested in a single-diffusion microtiter plate gel system. Absorbance at 405 nm of each sample was recorded for 24 h at every 6 h intervals. The relatively increased values of each sample were expressed as percentages relative to the blank group (100%). The cyclic peptide resulted in a concentration-dependent delayed nucleation. In addition, the overall values of peptide groups at the end of 24 h were lower than those in the control group but much higher than those in the BSA control group.

Objective To evaluate the value of magnetic resonance imaging features in differentiating soft tissue lipoma from well-differentiated liposarcoma. Methods MR images of 30 patients with histologically verified fat-containing tumors(22 lipomas and 8 well-differentiated liposarcomas)were retrospectively reviewed.Well-differentiated liposarcomas and benign lipomas were compared in terms of the size of the lesion, percentage of adipose component, number of thick septa, nodular and(or)patchy nonadipose component, contrast enhancement patterns and the margin characters of the lesion. Results The mean size of lipomas[(64?35)mm]was significantly smaller(t=4.263,P

Objective To investigate the efficacy of the clinical pathway in geriatric orthope-dics clinical teaching. Methods From March 2010 to December 2011, 80 clinical undergraduates, who practiced in the Department of Orthopedics in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medi-cal University, were equally randomized divided into two groups. One group was taught by the con-ventional methods and the other group was taught by the clinical pathway teaching. After the teaching, the theoretical exam and operational skill test were performed among students in both groups. SPSS 17.0 software was employed and the scores before and after the teaching and scores between two groups was analyzed by paired t-test(inspection level α=0.05). Results There was no significant difference in average scores between two groups before teaching(theoretical exam: P=0.81, operating skill test:P=0.65) while significant increases were observed in scores of theoretical exam and operational skill test after teaching (theoretical exam and operating skill test: P<0.05) and clinical pathway teaching group had higher scores than conventional teaching group (theoretical exam and operating skill test:P=0.02 and P=0.01). Conclusions Better effects can be achieved by clinical pathway approach re-garding geriatric orthopedics teaching.
