To explore th e role of nitric oxide(NO), nitric oxide synthetase (NOS)and prolactin (PRL) in the pathogenesis, progress and prognosis of neonatal hypoxic-ischemia encephalop athy (HIE),plasma NO, NOS and serum PRL were determined by radioimmunoassay(RIA) and colorimetry in 68 newbom infants with HIE and 30 normal control neonates, r espectively. The results showed that the levels of NO, NOS and PRL were signific antly higher in all neonates with HIE than that in the control group (P<0.05).There were in particular more higher levels of NO,NOS an d PRL in infants with either moderate or severe HIE(P<0 .01). It was noticed that the level of PRL was much higher in HIE infants with seizures than that in HIE infants without seizures. There was a positive relati onship between the levels of PRL and the duration of seizure attack( P<0.01). It is suggested that the levels of NO, NOS and PRL is ass ociated with HIE.The determination of these parameters will be valuable clinical ly for the diagnosis, judgement of prognosis and estimation of seizure attack in newborn infants with HIE.

BACKGROUND:Acupuncture is an effective method for lumbar pain in lumbar disc herniation, but its mechanism has not yet been clarified.Factors related to the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway regulate the body's inflammatory response and are involved in the process of neuropathic pain. OBJECTIVE:To study the mechanism of acupuncture on lumbar disc herniation in a rat model based on the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. METHODS:Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups:sham operation group, model group, acupuncture group, and acupuncture+agonist group, with 10 rats in each group.Animal models of L5 lumbar disc herniation was constructed through autologous disc cell transplantation in the model group, acupuncture group, and acupuncture+agonist group.Rats in the acupuncture group and the acupuncture+agonist group received acupuncture treatment(Yanglingquan,Shenshu,Huantiao, and Dachangshu acupoints)at 3 days after modeling, and acupuncture treatment was given once a day,20 minutes each, for 15 consecutive days.Rats in the acupuncture+agonist group were injected intrathecally with coumermycin A1,a JAK2 agonist, into the L4/L5 intervertebral space, once a day,20 minutes each, prior to the acupuncture at 6,12,and 18 days after modeling.Paw withdrawal mechanical threshold was detected before and 3,6,9,12,15,and 18 days after modeling. At 18 days after modeling, serum inflammatory factor levels were detected,hematoxylin-eosin staining was performed to observe the morphology of L5-L6 tissues,RT-PCR was performed to detect the expression of JAK2 and STAT3 mRNAs in L5-L6 tissues, and western blot was performed to detect the expression of JAK2,p-JAK2 and p-STAT3 proteins in L5-L6 tissues. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The paw withdrawal mechanical thresholds of rats in the model group at different time points after modeling were lower than those in the sham operation group(P<0.05),the paw withdrawal mechanical thresholds of rats in the acupuncture group were higher than those in the model group at 9,12,15,and 18 days after modeling(P<0.05),and the paw withdrawal mechanical thresholds of rats in the acupuncture+agonist group were lower than those in the acupuncture group at 9,12,15,and 18 days after modeling(P<0.05).The levels of interleukin 6,tumor necrosis factor α,neurotransmitter substance P,and brain neuropeptide Y were elevated in the model group compared with the sham operation group(P<0.05);the levels of all four inflammatory factors were reduced in the acupuncture group compared with the model group(P<0.05);and the levels of all four inflammatory factors were elevated in the acupuncture+agonist group compared with the acupuncture group(P<0.05).Hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that lumbar degeneration was obvious in the model group but reduced in the acupuncture group and the acupuncture+agonist group. Moreover, the reduction was more obvious in the acupuncture group compared with the acupuncture+agonist group. The JAK2 and STAT3 mRNA expression as well as the p-JAK2 and p-STAT3 protein expression were elevated in the model group compared with the sham operation group(P<0.05),were decreased in the acupuncture group compared with the model group(P<0.05),and were increased in the acupuncture+agonist group compared with the acupuncture group(P<0.05).To conclude, acupuncture can alleviate inflammation to exert analgesic effects in the rat model of lumbar disc herniation, and its mechanism of action may be related to the inhibition of the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Journal of Gynecologic Oncology 2020;31(4):e68-
The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has rapidly spread globally. Cancer patients are at a higher risk of being infected with the coronavirus and are more likely to develop severe complications, as compared to the general population. The increasing spread of COVID-19 presents challenges for the clinical care of patients with gynecological malignancies. Concerted efforts should be put into managing gynecological malignancies in an orderly manner by strictly implementing the measures that are specifically developed for controlling the spread of COVID-19. We have drafted Recommendations on Management of Gynecological Malignancies during the COVID-19 Pandemic based on our experience on controlling COVID-19 pandemic in China. We recommend that patients with gynecological malignancies should be managed in hierarchical and individualized manners in combination with local conditions related to COVID-19. Medical care decision should be balanced between controlling COVID-19 pandemic spread and timely diagnosis and treatment for gynecologic oncology patients.

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical effect differences between infraoccipital needle-knife and massage for cervical vertigo.
METHODSA total of 366 patients with cervical vertigo were randomly assigned into a needle-knife group (186 cases) and a massage group (180 cases). With cases dropping excluded, 183 cases in the needle-knife group and 176 cases in the massage group were included. Needle-knife was used at Fengchi (GB 20), infraoccipitalpoint, etc. in the needle-knife group. The treatment was given for one course, once three days, 5 times as one course. The traditional massage was applied in the massage group for one course, including systematic stroking, kneading, and the application of pressure and plucking, etc., once every two days and 7 times as one course. The dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) score was observed before and after treatment, as well as 3, 6, and 12 months after treatment. The effects were also evaluated.
RESULTSThe total effective rate was 92.3% (169/183) in the needle-knife group, which was better than 85.2% (150/176) in the massage group (<0.05). Compared with those before treatment, the DHI scores at all the observation time points after treatment were improved in the two groups (all<0.05), with better improvements after treatment as well as 3 and 6 months after treatment in the needle-knife group (all<0.05). There was no significant difference in the improvement of DHI scores between the two groups 12 months after treatment (>0.05). The recurrence rate was 10.3% (12/117) in the needle-knife group, and it was 10.7% (11/103) in the massage group 12 months after treatment (>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSInfraoccipital needle-knife achieves apparent effect for cervical vertigo, which is superior to massage in short period.
