Objective:To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI)among the medical students. Methods:A total of 603 undergraduate students were selected from a medical school in Beijing using a stratified-cluster random-sampling strategy, who were assessed by using the Chinese version of PSQI.Then 1 71 subjects were randomly selected to retest about 1 month later, using a variety of psychometric properties to evaluate reliability and validity of the scale. Results:The average of global PSQI scores was 5.38 ±2.34,the overall Cronbach’s αcoefficient of all the scale items was 0.734,the half-split reliability coefficient was 0.655;the test-retest correlation coef-ficient was 0.530 for global PSQI score, and there was no statistically significant difference before and af-ter (P >0.05).As for the construct validity, confirmatory factor analysis results indicated that the two factor model (containing sleep efficiency factor and sleep quality factor)was the optimal model (good-ness-of-fit index 0.949,root of the mean square residual 0.083,comparative fit index 0.699),and the factor loading for “hypnotic drug use”was the lowest.Using subjective sleep quality of the students as the criteria, the global PSQI score was statistically different between the criteria-based groups (P <0.001 ).And the area under the receiver operating characteristics (ROC)curve which was plotted using the global score of PSQI was 0.908 (95%CI:0.880 -0.936).Conclusion:The Chinese version of PSQI has been verified, having good reliability and validity among the medical students, and is an effec-tive tool to investigate and screen the sleep quality of medical students in China.

Objective: To determine the role of interleukin-10 (IL-10) secreted by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in the maintenance of hemodialysis in patients with immune deficiency and to evaluate thot if IL-10 can bea biocompatibility index of dialyzer. Methods: Twenty patients with end-stage renal disease were divided into maintenance hemodialysis group (MHD group) and non-hemodialysis group (NHD group). Patients in MHD group were dialyzed with cellulose (CA group) and polysulfone (PS group) dialyzers respectively. Ten healthy persons were as controls (CON group). The levels of IL-10 in supernatants of PBMC cultured with or without lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were measured by using ELISA method in all groups. Results: There was no spontanous IL-10 secretion in all groups. The level of IL-10 in all supernatants secreted by PBMC cultured with LPS increased significantly, and the increased levels of IL-10 in MHD and NHD patients were lower than that in controls. The PBMC stimulated by LPS secreted more IL-10 in patients dialyzed by PS with better biocompatibility than those of CA dialyzers with poor biocompatibility. Conclusion: Patients immune deficiency could be improved by using better biocompatible dialyzers more than poor ones, particularly in humoral immunity induced by urimia. The IL-10 could be a parameter in evaluating the biocompatibility of dialyzer.

To build the Dendrobium nobile -T2DM network, and elucidate the molecular mechanism of D. nobile to type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Collect the chemical composition of D. nobile and the targets on T2DM by retrieving database and documents, build the network of D. nobile to T2DM using the entity grammar systems inference rules. The molecular mechanism of D. nobile to T2DM includes: (1) regulating lipid metabolism by lowering triglyceride; (2) reducing insulin resistance; (3) protecting islet cells; (4) promoting the glucose-dependent insulin tropic peptide (GIP) secretion; (5) inhibiting calcium channel. Under the guidance of network pharmacology, through entity grammar systems inference rules we elucidate the molecular mechanism of D. nobile to T2DM, and provide the basis for the further development of health care products based on D. nobile.

OBJECTIVETo study the correlation between EEG characteristics of medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and drug-seeking behavior of rats with morphine dependent place preference under shuttling condition.
METHODSForty rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 10): morphine PL group, NS PL group, morphine IL group and NS IL group. After embeding the electrode in prelimbic (PL) or infralimbic (IL) cortex of each group by brain stereotaxic operation, the model of morphine dependent conditioned place preference (CPP) in rats was established. The differences of EEG wave percentage in mPFC were telemetered and analyzed when rats shuttled before and after the model.
RESULTSAfter the model, the withdrawal symptoms were evident in morphine PL and IL group, and the activity time and distance in white box were increased obviously. Compared with control group, after the model, the EEG in morphine PL group showed that: when the rats shuttled to white box, 8 wave decreased obviously, P wave increased obviously. When the rats shuttled to black box, brain waves showed opposite changes. The EEG in morphine IL group showed that: when the rats shuttled to white box, a wave increased obviously, P and a wave decreased obviously. When the rats shuttled to black box, the brain wave had no significant differences compared with control group.
CONCLUSIONThe EEG changes are different in PL and IL cortex of morphine CPP rats under shuttling condition, and the EEG changes are also different when rats shuttling to white or black box. There is possibly different mechanism, when different drug-seeking environmental cues caused EEG changes in different regions of mPFC.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effect of the sacrococcygeal space injection for the treatment of failed back surgery syndrome.
METHODSFrom July 1998 to October 2012,47 patients with failed back surgery syndrome were treated and included 39 males and 8 females with an average age of 61.5 years old ranging from 35 to 89 years old. Among them,41 patients experienced one time of operation, 6 patients with twice of operation. Forty-one patients underwent single, bilateral fenestration or central laminectomy decompression, discectomy. Six patients underwent total laminectomy discectomy and inter body fusion and pedicle screw fixation. All patients were examined by X-ray plain film, CT or MRI before treatment. The anticoagulation was discontinuation before treatment. The needle was put into the sacrococcygeal gap at prone position in the sense of frustration, suction without cerebrospinal fluid and blood, with injection of Mailuoning (Chinese characters: see text) 15 ml. The pain was assessed by VAS before and after treatment. The Oswestry low back pain disability index and survival quality interference degree were evaluated.
RESULTSAt 1 month after treatment,the pain VAS decreased from 59.24 +/- 17.35 before treatment to 19.19 +/- 11.19 after treatment (P < 0.05); The Oswestry low back pain disability index decreased from (41.35 +/- 9.87)% before treatment to (23.17 +/- 17.56)% after treatment (P < 0.05); The survival quality interference degree decreased from 6.5 +/- 2.2 before treatment to 2.6 +/- 1.4 after treatment (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe sacrococcygeal gap injection for treatment of failed back surgery syndrome has advantages of simple, safe, fewer complications, and low treatment cost.

ObjectiveTo detect the expressions of β-catenin protein in different pancreatic tissues ( NP,PanINs,IPMNs and PDAC) and evaluate its significance during the carcinogenesis of PDAC.Methods The expression of β-catenin protein in 12 samples of normal pancreatic tissues,52 samples of IPMN (IPMA 20 foci,IPMB 13 foci,IPMC 19 foci),PanINs 118 foci (PanIN-1 73 foci,PanIN-2 29 foci,PanIN-3 16 foci),50 cases of PDAC was determined by using immunohistochemistry. The correlation between β-catenin expression and clinicopathologic characteristics of PDAC was analyzed. Results β-catenin was mainly expressed in cell membrane of NP,the quantity was 4.38 ± 2.11 ; in PanINs,PDAC and IPMN,β-catenin membrane expression was significantly decreased or absent, the β-catenin membrane expressions of PanIN-1,PanIN-2,PanIN-3,PDAC,IPMA,IPMB,IPMC were 5.22 ±2.21,2.24 ±2.31,1.44 ±1.37,2.71 ±2.08,4.85 ±2.28,4.15 ±2.51,2.68 ±2.75.The cytoplasm expression of PanIN-1 was 12.3% (9/73),while the nuclear expression was 0 ; and the corresponding values were 34.5% (10/29) and 3.4% ( 1/29 ) in PanIN-2; 43.8% (7/16) and 12.5% (2/16) in PanIN-3; 44.0% (22/50) and 10.0% (5/50) in PDAC.The IHCS of β-catenin membrane expression decreased with the severe tissue atypia along the progressive multistage. The β-catenin membrane expression was significantly associated with tumor size, neural infiltration and lymphatic metastasis ( P < 0.05 ).Ectopic cytoplasm expression was significantly associated with tumor size (P<0.05 ). Ectopicnuclear expression was significantly associated with tumor differentiation (P<0.01).The membrane or ectopic cytoplasm expression of β-catenin was significantly associated with postoperative survival.ConclusionsAbnormal Wnt/β-catenin signal activation induces decreased β-catenin membrane expression and increased ectopic expression, which is an important mechanism of pathogenesis and development of PDAC,and promotes the growth and metastasis of PDAC.The expression of β-catenin was associated with postoperative survival.
