Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1998;27(9):S1317-S1320
The Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society is the unique official journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society. However, it is not yet indexed in the Index Medicus or Medline. The author investigated the accuracy of the references in the Jourmnal of Korean Neurosurgical Society Volume 26 and frequency of citation. In 1997, 240 articles published in the Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society. The average number of references and frequency of citation were evaluated. Accuracy of the references was examined according to the instructions for the contributors which was revised at 1995. The references were described correctly in 104 articles(43.3%). In 136 articles(56.7%), there was at least one descriptive error. The most common error was an incorrect abbreviation of the journals, which was found in 87 articles (36.3%). Incorrect description of the books or chapters in a book was found in 62 articles(25.8%). Describing more than three authors was found in 31 articles(12.9%). There were some other faults, such as an incorrect author's name, omitting an article in the references, wrong order, or different description of the pages. The average number of references were 27.1 in total. The average number of Korean references were 1.3, and that of the Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society was 0.93. It shared only 3.43% of all references. Only 108 articles (45.0%) cited at least one Korean reference. The number of articles citing the Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society was 97(40.4%). It is an honor to publish an article in the official journal of his own academic society. However, submitting an articles which do not follow the instructions and publishing an inadequate article without proper correction would pull down the quality and the value of the journal. It is important to teach the way how to prepare an article. Meticulous review of an article is essential to improve the quality of the journal. It is also necessary to monitor the reviewer's missing.

To develop into a good jounal, it takes constant and consistent time and the efforts. "Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association" has been tried and revised through workshop and research development subcommittec. As "an editor-in chief", I reviewed about the good journal evaluation principles especially four main aspects of the ISI journal selection process for Science Citation Index (SCI) and Index Medicus. These involve examination of basic journal publishing standards, editorial content, international diversity, and citation analysis. Aslo, I reviewed the important and problems of redundant publication and on-line publication. Through these current important issues, I suggests a Master plan for the Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 2011;42(1):1-5
The Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy was established in 1976 for academic exchanges between endoscopic specialists. It joined the Korean Academy of Medical Science in 1988 and founded The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Research Foundation of Korea in 2009 for academics, education, and research on gastrointestinal endoscopy. The Korean Academy of Medical Science rated this academic society 250 out of 275 points, which is equivalent to 91 points when converted to a 100 point scale. Globalization is the recommendation of the Korean Academy of Medical Science. To pursue globalization, this academic society will publish and register English journals on Index Medicus and encourage the use of English during symposiums. Such efforts will allow this academic society to better cooperate and exchange knowledge with academic societies of other countries. Moreover, this academic society must contribute socially by enlightening the public about endoscopy.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2011;31(8):764-768
The Medline database system and the CNKI literature database were used to evaluate the publications in acupuncture in recent years, using the key words: "acupuncture" "adverse reaction" and "risk". A number of 155 publications in Chinese were collected, including 698 cases; a number of 59 abstracts publications in English were selected, including 64 cases. The analysis of the publications shows that various causes lead to adverse reactions to acupuncture. The defective security system of acupuncture is one of the major causes. It demands to promote the safety guidelines issued by WHO or to establish a new Chinese security system of acupuncture.

7.A concept analysis of mentoring.
Philippine Journal of Nursing 2014;84(2):59-62
The concept of mentoring is important in nursing. Mentoring allows opportunities for a mentor to transfer knowledge and expertise in both theory and practice and a mentee to improve performance. This concept analysis aims to clarify the meaning of 'mentoring'. Attributes, antecedents, consequences, and a model case are presented to clarify this concept further. Review of literatures was conducted by using databases which include EBSCO, MEDLINE, and Google scholar. Findings showed that mentoring allows personal and professional growth of mentees. Closing the gap between theory and practice is achieved through an expert supervision of a mentor to a mentee. Mentoring plays a central role in the development of novice nurses as they integrate theoretical concepts into their practice. The benefits of mentoring are illuminated in the increasing competency of nurses in performing their roles to be globally competitive.

8.Inquiries About Journal Selection in Index Medicus (Medline/PubMed).
Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association 2003;42(6):669-673
It is my great pleasure to give a brief advice in responcse to the request from the Editorial Board of The Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association that has a firm willingness to be approved for listing in the Index Medicus, Medline/PubMed of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), NIH of USA. Herein, I totally recall my cherishing experience of the past responsibility as a passed Editor-in-Chief of The Korean Journal of Hepatology, which has been indexed since 2002. And I review the factsheets of the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee (LSTRC) of the NLM. Of course, The Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association should make steady efforts to be upgraded. Undoubtedly, I believe dream comes true.
