1.Signaling pathways related to multidrug resistance in epithelial ovarian cancer
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2016;43(9):396-399
Ovarian cancer is a serious threat to women's reproductive health. Epithelial carcinoma is the most common pathological type of ovarian cancer. In addition, epithelial carcinoma demonstrates the highest mortality among all types of gynecological tumors. Despite the recent advances in surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, recurrence or deterioration still occurs in 75%–80%of patients after treatment. Multidrug resistance is a major cause of post-treatment relapses, metastasis, and even death. This characteristic se-verely restricts the survival of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer. Signaling pathways are important regulatory mechanisms of mul-tidrug resistance. To date, research on the mechanisms of action of these pathways has progressed, and clinical trials on specific inhibi-tors obtained satisfactory results. This study explores the potential relationship between signaling pathways and multidrug resistance in epithelial ovarian cancer, as well as the current progress in clinical research on targeted drugs, to provide a theoretical basis for clini-cal applications.

This study was aimed to optimize the near infrared (NIR) variable selection method based on multivariate detection limit (MDL). Using Qing-Kai-Ling (QKL) injection as object, three variable selection methods (interval par-tial least-squares, iPLS; backward interval partial least squares, BiPLS; moving window interval partial least squares, mwPLS) were used to establish the PLS models of baicalin in QKL injection, respectively. The prediction ability of different variable selection method was compared. MDL of all models were calculated in contrast to the MDL value of full spectra PLS model, to select optimal variable selection method. The results showed that different variable selec-tion methods had different prediction ability. Among them, iPLS had the best performance which determination coef-ficient of prediction (Rpre2) and the root mean square errors of prediction (SEP) were 0.996 5 and 602.3 μg·mL-1, re-spectively. All MDLs of different variable selection methods were reduced compared with the full spectra PLS model. The value of iPLS was the lowest comes to be 1.19 μg·mL-1. The results above indicated that the best variable se-lection method for baicalin in QKL injection was iPLS. MDL theory took the error of calibration and validation set and the leverage of external sample into account, which can comprehensively evaluate model detection performance compared to the classic chemical indicator parameters. This method was particularly suitable for the variable selec-tion method optimization of NIR quantitative model of low concentration sample such as Chinese herbal medicine.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2004;21(4):531-535
The formation of bone-like apatite on porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics in dynamic simulated body fluid (SBF) undergoing a simulated inflammation procedure (pH = 6.5) was investigated in order to study the mechanism of osteoinduction and build a new method to choose biomaterials with better bioactivity. The results showed that the surface of porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics which underwent a simulated inflammation procedure in dynamic SBF was more smooth. The light acidity in the simulated inflammation procedure would dissolve the fine grains and the parts possessing smaller curvature radius on the surface of porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics, which would reduce the bioceramics solubility. Followed in normal SBF (pH = 7.4), the amount of bone-like apatite formed on the porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics was less than that of porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics incubation in normal SBF all along. The results also showed that the amount of bone-like apatite formed on the porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics sintered by a microwave plasma was more than that of porous HA/beta-TCP bioceramics sintered by a conventional furnace.

Objective:
To study the association between eating at night and skipping breakfast with college students anxiety symptoms, and to provide reference basis for preventing and alleviating college students anxiety symptoms.
Methods:
A cross sectional survey was conducted among 9 960 freshman from three universities in Kunming and Dali, Yunnan Province. The dietary frequency questionnaire was used to evaluate the dietary behavior of college students. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) was used to evaluate the anxiety symptoms of college students. The association of late night snack and breakfast skipping with the association of anxiety symptoms in college students used generalized linear model and Logistic regression model.
Results:
The proportion of college students who reported eating at night and breakfast skipping in the last month was 72.5%(7 217/9 960) and 61.6%(6 131/9 960) respectively. The detection rate of anxiety symptoms in college students was 28.9%(2 875/9 960). There was a statistical significance between eating at night with anxiety symptoms( OR =1.40-2.54), and breakfast skipping with anxiety symptoms( OR =1.23-1.60)( P <0.05). The interaction between eating late at night and breakfast skipping was positively correlated with college students anxiety symptoms (multiplicative interaction, β=0.06, 95%CI=0.02- 0.10 , P<0.01; additive interaction, OR=2.00, 95%CI=1.59-2.51, P <0.01).
Conclusion
The study suggests that the college students who eat at night and frequently skipped breakfast are more likely to have anxiety symptoms. It suggested to promote the formation of healthy eating habits of college students, so as to reduce the occurrence of anxiety sympotoms.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of arterial perfusion of marrow multifunctional stem cells (MFSC) in treating femoral head necrosis and its mechanism.
METHODSThe rabbit model of femoral head necrosis was established by large dose of methyl-prednisone through Shwartzman response. Bone marrow was extracted from femoral bone of model rabbit and isolated in vitro for culturing and proliferating MFSC. The experimental rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups, treated with normal saline (A), Salvia + urokinase (B), MFSC (C) and MFSC + Salvia + urokinase (D), respectively, they were sacrificed in batches at 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, and changes in various parameters, including molybdenum target roentgenogram, routine pathology with HE staining, tetracycline labeled fluorescent microscopy and ultrastructure alteration by scanning electron microscope (SEM), were observed.
RESULTSTypical appearance of femoral head necrosis was shown in the successfully modeled rabbits. Two and 4 weeks after treatment by high selective drug via medial and lateral femoral circumflex arterial perfusion, the X-ray examination showed significant improvement of bone density; pathohistologic manifestation showed decrease of empty bone lacuna, increase of osteoblast and new bone formation; tetracycline fluorescent labeled microscopic picture showed bright fluorescent band of increased osteoblasts in necrosis repairing region with widened border; SEM displayed irregularly arranged fibrosis in necrosis region, abundant organelles in osteoblasts with few empty bone lacuna. The above-mentioned improvement was more significant in rabbits treated by MFSC.
CONCLUSIONHigh selective femoral drug arterial perfusion in treating femoral head necrosis could accelerate the process of revascularization and re-ossification in rabbits. As compared with Salvia, MFSC showed quicker and more potent effect.
