Purpose To evaluate apoptosis in renal tissue of diffuse proliferative lupus nephritis and therelationship between the existence of apoptosis cells in renal tissue and histopathological or clinical changes.Methods Apoptosis was detected by in situ nick-end labeling techniques (TUNEL) in renal biopsies from 25patients with type Ⅳ LN, 12 patients with IgAN, 4 patients with MsPGN, and 3 patients with APSGN. Normalrenal tissue obtained at nephrectorny for hypemephroma in 4 adults was used as control. In addition, proliferatingcells were identified by proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) in these patients. Results Compared to otherproliferative glomerulonephritis and control,the patients with lupus nephritis had less apoptosis cells, higher ratio ofPCNA+ cells/TdT+ cells/(P/T) in renal tissues;Ratio of P/T in glomeruli and tubulointerstitium correlated withthe chronicity index, r=0. 498 3(P = 0. 013 2), r = 0. 839 9(P＜ 0.001 ), r = 0. 661 4(P = 0. 003 3),respectively. Ratio of P/T in glomerulus and tubule had positive correlation with 24 hour urinary protein, r =0.855 4(P＜0.001),r=0.713 4(P=0. 001); negative correlation with Ccr, r = - 0. 488 0(P =0. 013 3)and r = - 0. 722 9(P = 0. 001), which in tubules positively correlated with Scr, r = 0. 410 7 (P = 0.041 4 ).Conclusions Apoptosis is insufficient in proliferative lupus nephritis. Intense proliferation without followingincrease in apoptosis may be related to chronic progressive renal histopatholcgical changes.

AIM: To establish a quality control method of analysing Lajiao Fengshi Plaster qualitatively and quantitatively. METHODS: Capsaicin was identificated by TLC and menthol,borneol were determinated by GC Lajiao Fengshi Plaster,silica gel as plate,ligarine(60～90?C)-acetoacetate(3(∶)2) as mobile phase,0.5% solution of dichloroquinonechlorimide R in methanol R.as chromogenic agent to identificate capsaicin.The internal standard of GC,naphthalene was employed.10% PEG-20M as the stationary phase,column temperature at 150(?C,) and FID as the detector to determine methol and borneol. RESULTS: There were the same spot corresponding in colour and position sample and reference capsaicin,but negative control had not such colour spot in the same plate of TLC.Menthol,borneol and naphthalene had been separated well under the chromatographic condition.The average recovery of menthol,borneol were 97.44%(RSD=0.93%),98.09%(RSD=1.26%),respectively. CONCLUSION: The method is sensitive,accurate and reproducible and can be used to control the quality of Lajiao Fengshi Plaster.

Objective To investigate the effect of baicalain on high expression of ECM and TGF-?1 in proximal tubular epithelial cells cultured in high glucose concentration. Methods LLC-PK1 cells were divided into six groups: (1)normal glucose group(NG, 5. 5 mmol/L D-glucose), (2)high glucose group(HG, 25 mmol/L D-glucose), (3) HG + PKC inhibitor(10?mol/L chelerythrine chloride), (4)HG + baicalein(50 ?mol/L), (5) HG + baicalein(100 ?mol/L), (6) HG + baicalein (200 ?mol/L) . PKC activity was detected. Expression of ColⅣ, FN and TGF-?1 was examined by in situ hybridization and immunocytochemistry(ABC) techniques. Objective To evaluate the distribution and drug resistance of bacteria causing neonatal infectious pneumonia in Jiaxing,and to provide a therapy for clinical doctor to make a correct diagnosis,choose reasonable anti-biotics and avoid abuse of antibiotics.Methods Took expectoration from trachea in condition of asepsis to conduct culture and perform drug-sensitive test from 3025 cases.Results Totally 1 156 strains of aerobic bacteria were iso-lated.875 strains were gram negative bacilli(75.7%),269 strains were gram positive cocci(23.3%),and 12 strains were fungi(1.0%).Klebsiella pneumoiae,Escherichia coil,Acinetobacter baumanni,Enterobacter cloacae were com-mon in gram negative bacilli( respectively 178 cases,151 cases,87 cases,113 cases) .The proportion of the Staphylo-coccus aureus was the largest in gram positive cocci(245 cases) .The results showed that gram-negative bacilli were resistant to cefazolin, ampicillin, piperacillin and sensitive to meropenem, imipenem, piperacillin-tazuobatanna and cefoperazone-sulbactam.The drug resistance was severe of ESBL-positive.Staphylococcus aureus was resistant to penicillin, ampicillin, erythrocin, clindamycin and sensitive to linezolid, vancomycin, nitrofurantoin.Conclusion Gram-negative bacilli are the main bacteria in neonatals with infectious pneumonia.The drug resistance is severe.It is important to make a standard management and isolation.

Through several thousand years’ inheritance and development by Chinese people, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has formed its unique theoretic system, whose efficacy has been widely accepted. However, because TCM theory focuses on the relationships among syndromes, treatment and efficacy, instead of the cause-and-effect relationship explored by modern natural science, the scientificity of TCM has always been questioned. In recent years, because virtual-world clinical research mode and the concept of “big data” were emphasized, increasing researchers began to put their research emphasis on the correlativity between intervening measures of diseases and outcome indicators. This change and the advancement of computer data mining and analysis technology, bring great opportunities for the further development of TCM theory and practice. This article concluded data mining technology used in TCM diagnosis and treatment in recent years, such as clustering analysis, decision tree, Bayesian network, neural network and multi-instance learning, which showed how to apply these methods to reveal rules of TCM diagnosis and treatment from a large number of TCM syndrome data, find knowledge hidden in data, and show TCM effectiveness supported by data.

OBJECTIVETo observe the efficacy of He-wei Jie-gu (Chinese characters) decoction on femoral intertrochanteric fractures after internal fixation in elderly.

METHODSFrom January 2010 to January 2012, 90 elderly patients with osteoporotic intertrochanteric fracture were randomly divided into two groups. The patients in experimental group were treated with open reduction and internal fixation, He-wei Jie-gu decoction and Caltrate D in oral, including 18 males and 27 females with an average age of (77.8±11.3) years old ranging from 65 to 89 years old;the time from injured to operation was 2 to 9 days with an average of (6.6±2.1) days; according to Evans-Jensen classification, 17 cases were in type I, 8 in type II, 15 in type III, 3 in type IV, 2 in type V. Meanwhile, the patients in control group were treated with open reduction and internal fixation, Caltrate D in oral, including 16 males and 29 females with an average age of (81.2±9.6) years old ranging from 67 to 91 years old; the time from injury to operation was 2 to 10 days with an average of (6.8±2.6) days; according to Evans-Jensen classification, 15 cases were in type I, 10 in type II, 14 in type III, 4 in type W, 2 in type V. The VAS score, hip BMD value before and after treatment, fracture healing and the Harris function score after operation were recorded and compared.

RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 3 to 9 months with an average of (5.6±2.8) months. Compared with the control group, the VAS score of the experimental group had an obviously reduction (F=98.138, P<0.01) after treatment; the hip BMD value at 3 months after treatment in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05); the fracture healing rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05); Harris score in 3 months of follow-up in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (t=2.542, P<0.05); all the differences between two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONHe-wei Jie-gu decoction can reduce postoperative pain and increase bone mineral density after internal fixation of femoral intertrochanteric fracture in elderly, promote the fracture healing and functional recovery in the hip joint.

Objective To evaluate the distribution and age-related changes of brain iron content in healthy people using MR quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM).Methods Sixty three healthy right-handed volunteers underwent the routine MRI and SWI scan to get SWI-unfiltered phase images and magnitude images.QSM were reconstructed from the SWI-unfiltered phase images and magnitude images using SMART software.The regions of interest at the bilateral frontal white matter and nuclei (caudate nuclews,globus pallidus,putamen,substantia nigra,dorsal thalamus,red nucleus and dental nucleus) were drawn manually,and the susceptibility was measured.The linear correlation between the susceptibility and iron concentration cited from Hallgren and Sourander's post-mortem brain study was calculated.Wilcoxon test were applied to calculate the difference between the bilateral frontal white matter and bilateral nuclei.The correlation of age with susceptibility of bilateral frontal white matter and bilateral nuclei were analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis.Results The median susceptibility (extent) of frontal white matter,caudate nucleus,globus pallidus,putamen,dorsal thalamus,substantia nigra,red nucleus and dentate nucleus of 63 healthy people were-12.81 (-31.56,8.72),39.27 (22.35,75.13),93.99 (19.19,158.75),29.16 (4.11,81.53),2.91 (-27.80,27.95),83.14 (38.57,185.79),63.49 (13.83,142.09),63.30 (36.78,128.53) ppb (× 10-9),respectively.There was high consistency with Hallgren and Sourander's study (r=0.91,P＜0.05).The susceptibility of globus pallidus was the highest,followed by substantia nigra.The least susceptibility was seen in the frontal white matter.The susceptibility of right caudate nucleus,substantia nigra,red nucleus and dental nucleus was higher than that of left side (Z value was-3.18,-4.44,-3.70 and-2.64,respectively,P＜0.05).The susceptibility of bilateral globus pallidus of the male was significantly different from that of the female (Z value was-2.27 and-2.42,respectively,P＜0.05).There was positive correlation between age and the susceptibility of bilateral caudate nucleus,putamen,red nucleus and dental nucleus (r value was 0.30 to 0.49,P＜0.05).Conclusions QSM based on the SWI-unfiltered phase and magnitude images can clearly display the cerebral nuclei and evaluate the brain iron content accurately,which is consistent with the histopathological results.Iron content of bilateral caudate nucleus,putamen,red nucleus and dental nucleus increase with aging.

This article was to elucidate that the needling depth is closely related to the meridian qi, disease location, disease nature and needled area based on the records of needling depth in Nei Jing (Canon of Internal Medicine). Moreover, different depths will produce different therapeutic efficacies;meanwhile, improper depth may lead to grave consequences.

Objective To investigate the pathogens and their antibiotic resistance in patients with peritoneal dialysis‐related peritonitis .Methods The clinical data including pathogens ,antibiotic resistance profile of 213 patients with peritoneal dialysis‐related peritonitis who were treated in our peritoneal dialysis center from January 2011 to December 2013 were analyzed retrospectively .Results Dialysate culture was positive for 132 (62 .0% ) of the 213 cases ,resulting in a total of 140 strains of microorganisms ,including 84 strains of gram positive cocci ,37 strains of gram‐negative bacilli ,10 strains of fungus and 9 strains of gram positive bacilli . Coagulase‐negative Staphylococcus was the most common gram positive bacteria while Escherichia coli was the most common gram negative bacteria isolated from the effluent .The prevalence of methicillin‐resistant S .aureus and methicillin‐resistant coagulase negative Staphylococcus was 14 .3% (1/7) and 43 .2% (19/44) ,respectively . About 44 .4% (8/18) of the E .coli and K . pneumoniae isolates produced extended spectrum beta‐lactamases .All the gram‐positive cocci were sensitive to vancomycin and linezolid and slightly resistant to chloramphenicol (6 .3% ) , moxifloxacin (8 .5% ) , and rifampicin (9 .5% ) , but highly resistant to cefazolin (90 .0% ) ,followed by ampicillin (76 .7% ) ,oxacillin (71 .2% ) and penicillin (69 .7% ) . Coagulase negative Staphylococcus isolates were sensitive to vancomycin , linezolid , tigecycline , quinupristin‐dalfopristin and daptomycin ,but all resistant to cefazolin and ampicillin ,and highly resistant to penicillin (91 .9% ) and oxacillin (82 .5% ) .All the gram‐negative bacilli were sensitive to meropenem ,ertapenem ,cefoperazone‐sulbactam and tigecycline .About 80 .6% and 65 .5% of the gram‐negative bacilli were resistant to ampicillin and peperacillin ,respectively .E .coli isolates were sensitive to meropenem ,ertapenem and piperacillin‐tazobactam but highly resistant to ampicillin (81 .3% ) and piperacillin (71 .4% ) . Conclusions Gram‐positive cocci especially Staphylococcus and gram negative bacteria E .coli are major pathogens in peritoneal dialysis‐related peritonitis .Adequate microbiological culture and suitable antimicrobial therapy are key to successful treatment of the peritonitis associated with peritoneal dialysis .

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Jingui Shenqi Pill (JSP) on morphology of spinal cell apoptosis in rats injured by 192Ir irradiation.

METHODSOne hundred and twenty rats were randomly divided into four groups: the model group, the JSP group, the prednisone group and the normal group. Corresponding pharmaceutics were given to rats once a day for 14 days respectively. Then except rats in the normal group, the others received 192Ir interstitial irradiation with the dosage of 22 Gy using back-fixing technology. The injured segments of spinal cord were taken out for HE staining, TUNEL examination and observation with electron microscope 8 hrs, 24 hrs and 4 weeks after irradiation.

RESULTSHE staining examination showed no obvious histological change in rats 8 and 24 hrs after irradiation, but pathological changes, as tissue rarefaction and hemorrhage did found in white matter of spinal cord shown by TUNEL 4 weeks later. Electron microscopic examination and TUNEL staining showed that as compared with the model group, the apoptotic index in the JSP and predinisone treated groups was significantly lower (P < 0.01) 8 hrs after radiation, but it showed insignificant difference between groups at the time points of 24 hrs and 4 weeks after radiation (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONJSP could act against apoptosis of gliocyte in spinal cord of rats in early stage after brachytherapy, indicating that JSP possessing a prednisone-like action.
