Chinese Journal of Urology 2000;0(12):-
Objective To study the clinical features, the diagnosis and treatment of left renal entrapment syndrome. Methods Four male patients with left renal entrapment syndrome were reported.Their age ranged from 16 to 22 years. The clinical features were characterized by recurrent episodes of gross hematuria, and 1 case had left varicocele concomitantly.Cystoscopy showed hematuria from the left ureter orifice.B-ultrasonography and CT scan showed that the left vein was clearly compressed at the included angle of abdominal aorta and superior mesenteric artery and the proximal vein was dilated in all the 4 patients. The characteristics of onset and imaging, and treatment of left renal entrapment syndrome were reviewed and discussed with the relevant literature. Results The diagnosis was established in the 4 cases based on B-ultrasonography and CT scan.Left renal vein reconstruction was performed on them. The patients were cured and discharged, with renal vein outflow being normal and no hematuria occurring. At 6 and 9 months after operation,CT and ultrasonography showed that the kidney contour was normal, the reconstructed veins were patent, and the routine urine test results were normal. Conclusions Left renal entrapment syndrome clinically results in high pressure of renal vein, hematuria and left varicocele.Autotransplantation of the left renal vein is an effective treatment option.

AIM: To investigate the effect of testosterone with varied concentrations on the fibr inolysis activity of HUVEC and its mechanism. METHODS: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) were cul tured as recommended. After confluence, the cultures were treated with testoster one(3 ?10 -10, 3?10 -9, 3?10 -8,3?10 -6, 3?10 -5 m ol/L) , and the control confluent cells were cultured in the same medium witho ut steroid. MTT experiment was repeated for 72 hours to investigate each groups' cell proliferation. The tPA and PAI-1 antigen levels were assayed with ELISA K its. Then with HUVEC incubated in androgen receptor antagonist (flutamide) 3 hou rs previously, the experiment was repeated. RESULTS: Testosterone at physiologic or lower concentrations (3 ?10 -10 to 3?10 -8 mol/L ) stimulated the secretion of tPA by HUVEC (P

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(01):-
AIM: To investigate the action of testosterone on atherosclerosis in a rabbit model. METHODS: 37 male cholesterol-fed rabbits were divided into five groups: castration group: castrated rabbits without exogenous testosterone administration; testosterone Ⅰ group: castrated rabbits with exogenous testosterone 0.25 mg?kg -1?d -1; testosterone Ⅱ group: castrated rabbits with exogenous testosterone 2.5 mg?kg -1?d -1; testosterone Ⅲ group: castrated rabbits with exogenous testosterone 12.5 mg?kg -1?d -1. The sham operation group was also set. Three months later, the levels of testosterone, blood lipids (including TG, HDL-C, LDL-C), PAI activity, nitric oxide (NO) content, endothelin (ET), angiotensin Ⅱ (AngⅡ) in blood were detected. RESULTS: It showed that testosterone in castration group was the lowest. There was no significant difference of TG or LDL-C between castration group and the other four groups. HDL-C in castration group was lower than that in other four groups. NO content of castration group was lower than that in others, but PAI activity, ET and AngⅡ concentration were higher than that in other groups. CONCLUSION: Testosterone is a protective factor against atherosclerosis in male rabbits.

Objective To observe the effect of bilateral movement training on upper extremities dysfunction in stroke patients in convalescent phase. Methods 52 patients with hemiplegia were randomly divided into treatment group (n=26) and control group (n=26). The treatment group accepted bilateral upper extremities movement training, and the control group accepted routine neurodevelopment training mainly with affected upper extremities, for 6 weeks. They were assessed with Fugl-Meyer Assessment upper-extremity section (FMA-UE) and modified Barthel Index (MBI) before and after treatment. Results The FMA-UE and MBI scores improved in both groups after treatment (P<0.01), and improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.001). Conclusion Bilateral movement training may improve upper extremity function and activities of daily living more effectively for stroke patients in convalescent phase.
