OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the curative effect and costs of sequential therapy with cefuroxime for lower respiratory bacterial infection.METHODS: A total of 180 patients with lower respiratory bacterial infection were randomly divided into 3 groups: persistent intravenous drip group, sequential therapy group, and per os group. The therapeutic effects and the adverse drug reactions of the three groups were observed, and the data were subjected to cost-effective analysis in pharmacoeconomics.RESULTS: In persistent intravenous drip group, sequential therapy group, and per os group, the costs were(1 673.00?183.85),(1 268.10?112.25) and(994.80?102.65) yuan, respectively, the clinical effective rates were 93.33%,89.66%,and 69.35%,respectively,the cost-effectiveness were 1 792.56?196.97,1 414.34?125.20,and 1 434.46?109.79,respectively,and the incremental cost-effective ratios were in the intravenous drip group and sequential therapy group were 2 828.19?338.62 and 1 345.64?47.27,respectively as against per os group.CONCLUSION: Among the schemes, sequential therapy is the optimal one.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 2002;0(12):-
Objective To observe the safety and efficacy of enteral nutrition (EN) in patients with hepatic dysfunction in early postoperative period. Methods A total of 52 patients with hepatic dysfunction were divided randomly into EN ( n =26) and PN ( n =26) groups. Patients in the two groups received EN and PN at 6 h after operation, respectively. The changes of hepatic function and conditions of nutrition were measured. The complications and the changes of gastrointestinal function were observed. The time of hospitalization after operation and cost of nutrition were also recorded. Results The level of bilirubin descended faster in EN than that in PN. Both EN and PN could improve the nitrogen balance. The recovery of gastrointestinal function in EN was much earlier than that in PN ( P

China Pharmacy 1991;0(02):-
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of salmon calcitonin plus Xianling gubao for osteoporosis and ostealgia in postmenopausal women. METHODS:160 women with postmenopausal osteoporosis and ostealgia were randomized to 3 groups (treatment group and 2 control groups):the treatment group received(500 IU q.d) salmon calcitonin nasal spray plus Xianling gubao(1.5 g b.i.d orally); the control group Ⅰ received(500 IU q.d) salmon calcitonin nasal spray alone and the control group Ⅱ received Xianling gubao(1.5 g b.i.d orally) alone. All the patients received oral Caltrate D (1 tablet q.d). A course was defined as 30 days. After treatment for a total of 3 courses, the nature and degree of ostealgia in all the patients were assessed, and the outcome indexes were measured and the adverse drug reactions were recorded. RESULTS:There were significant differences between the treatment group and two control groups in total effective rates(92.59% for treatment group vs. 69.81% for control group Ⅰ and 67.92% for control group Ⅱ,P0.05). CONCLUSION:Treatment of osteoporosis and ostealgia in postmenopausal women with salmon calcitonin plus Xianling gubao has been proved to be safe and effective in that the bone density can be increased effectively and the osteoporotic pain of lumbar and back of the patients can be relieved.
6.Current Research Status and Application Prospect on Transcription Factor NF-?B
China Biotechnology 2006;0(04):-
NF-?B, a group of important transcription factors, are introduced and discussed here on several aspects: their component and molecular structure; their activity control by I?B and IKK, the mechanism of their activation; their important roles in transcriptional regulation for large numbers of genes; and their importance in immunity, inflammation, cell survival, proliferation and apoptosis. The analysis of the relation between NF-?B and disease occurrence, the analysis of the relation between NF-?B and disease therapy, and the application prospect of the new strategy regarding the novel drug design and correlative diseases therapy on the basis of NF-?B as the target, are also included.

Objective To investigate whether functional electrical stimulation (FES) can improve the expression of proteins in the NMDAR1-pGLuR1 pathway so as to promote the recovery of motor function and sensation after stroke. Methods Eighty-one Wistar rats were used to make a photochemical brain model of local ischemia.Rats were randomly assigned into a sham, placebo stimulation or FES group.Rats in the placebo and FES groups had local ischemia induced in the M1 zone of the brain using the photosensitive dye Bengal rose.It was administered intravenously and a laser beam was then stereotactically positioned on the skull. The rats in the FES groups were stimulated for 30 minutes (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off, then 10 minutes on).The placebo group's treatment was similar, but without the electric current. The rats in the sham group received no intervention. The cylinder test and the adhesive-removal test were used to test the rats' motor function and sensation before the operation and before they were sacrificed.Cohorts were sacrificed after 3, 7 and 14 days of intervention.NMDA receptor and AMPA receptor were detected in the peri-ischemic cortex using western blotting. Results After 7 and 14 days the index of forelimb motor function in the cylinder test of the FES group was significantly better than that of the placebo group. The average adhesive-removal time of the FES group was also significantly faster compared with the placebo group. After 7 days the average expression of NMDAR1 in the FES group was significantly higher than in the placebo group. The average expression of GluR1 and pGluR1 in the FES group was significantly higher than in the placebo group after 14 days. Conclusion Functional electrical stimulation can improve motor function after ischemia through the NMDARAMPAR signal pathway, at least in rats.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(07):-
Objective To compare efficacy and side effects of intravenous versus oral indomethacin treatment for symptomatic patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm infants. Methods Fourty-nine preterm infants were reviewed retrospectively who were diagnosed as having symptomatic PDA confirmed by echocardiography.According to the using type and approach that were divided into 2 groups (intravenous group,n=21;oral group,n=28) and their doses and intervals were same. The rates of ductal closure and side effects were compared in 2 groups. Results There were no significantly different between 2 groups in single ductal closure and complicating other diseases. Soon closure of intravenous group was higher significantly than oral group [61.9 %(13/21) vs 28.6 %(8/28),P
