Objective: To compare the effects of invigorating the kidney and strengthening yang on four kinds of Semen Custutae. Methods: Sexual organs of juvenile rat and shen yang deficiency rat were weighed to analyze its contents of SOD and MDA. Results: Alcohol extracts of four kinds of Semen Custutae have conspicuous effects on increasing weight of sexual organs. Water extracts of Semen Custutae have better effects on raising the contents of SOD and MDA and increasing weight of immune organs of shen yang deficiency rat. Conclusion: The effects of Cuscuta chinensis Lam. and C.australis R. Br. have better than that of C. japonica Choisy and C.lupuliformis Krockr in invigorating the kidney and strengthening yang.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(4):309-311
Objective By previous overview of patients treated in our hospital, this study highlights on the intervention effects of TCM treating principle of regulating liver Qi and tonifying kidney Yin on the adverse reaction of TAM on breast cancer patients in post surgery. Methods Perspective study with the measures of randomization, and paralleling and synchronization control was conducted in the research. Results symptoms such as flush, insomnia, night sweat, palpitation, depression and heat sensation in the chest, palms and soles were improved significantly; while manifestations such as nausea, vomiting, irregular menstruation, bitter taste and dry mouth showed no significant changes. QOL changed significantly. Conclusion The application of treating principle of regulating liver Qi and tonifying kidney Yin is effective in reducing side effects caused by TAM. This result further improved the theory of TCM that the nature of liver is active, although the liver belongs to Yin in physique and but Yang in function.

Objective The prospective study was trying to explore the altering tendency of plasma concentration of E2, P and PAS after TCM intervention for post-surgery breast cancer patient who received endocrine therapy (tamoxifen). Methods By randomization, parallel, coincidence measures and the lab. technologies of AXSYM registered at Abbott lab. in the USA, plasma concentration of E2, P and FAS were tested before and after treatment. Results The results of biochemical test of plasma E2, P and FAS concentration of the two arms showed no significance difference before and after the intervention, indicating the side effects relating to TAM had nothing to do with plasma E2, P and FAS level. Conclusion It could be predicable that there must be some other by-pass ways initiating breast cancer rather than the way directly altering the level of plasma concentration of E2, P and FAS.

Objective To explore the effects of iodine on apoptosis and proliferation of the thyroid cells. Methods Wistar rats of one month wean were randomly divided into five groups(low iodine-LI, normal iodine-NI, fivefold high iodine-5 HI, tenfold high iodine-10 HI, fiftyfold high iodine-50 HI), and fed on water containing different concentration of iodine. All groups got prospective iodine intake, that is 0.6, 6.15, 30.75, 61.5, and 307.5 mg/d. After 7 days, 14 days, 28 days, the rats were sacrificed. The proliferation, apoptosis, and apoptosis related genes expression in the thyroid cells were determined by TUNEL, immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. Results As for short-term of iodine deficiency, no significant change was seen in the mRNA expression of fas and fasL genes, while in the iodine excess groups, the expreesion showed an up-regulation trend as iodine intake increased. Fas and FasL proteins expressions were consistent in LI and NI groups and all of them were negative or weak positive. In the HI groups the stain density increased with iodine intake and treatmnet period increased. Expression of PCNA was enhanced by short-term iodine deficiency, but not by short-term iodine excess. Apoptosis was not observed in all groups. Conclusion Both short-term iodine deficiency and iodine excess have no obvious effects on thyrocytes apoptosis. Proliferation can be induced by short-term iodine deficiency, not by iodine excess. Wistar rats present a strong tolerance to long-term iodine excess.

Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(08):-
Objective: To determine puerarin content in Cuochanglin Granules by HPLC. Methods: The determination was performed on C 18 column with MeOH H 2O(25∶75) as a mobile phase by means of external standard method. Results: There was a linear relationship between puerarin and chromatographical peak area when puerarin concentration was at a range of 0.099?g~0.495?g. Conclusion: The method is simple, accurate and sensible, and can be used for quality control of this preparation.

China Pharmacist 2014;(2):268-270
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of compound hypoglycemic Yuye oral liquor combined with metfo-ma and glimepiride in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus ( deficiency of both Qi and Yin) . Methods:Totally 80 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group with 40 each, both groups were treated with met-formin hydrochloride tablets and glimepiride tablets, the treatment group was given compound hypoglycemic Yuye oral liquor additional-ly, and the treatment duration was 12 weeks. At the end of the treatment, fasting plasma glucose( FPG) , postprandial 2 hours plasma glucose(2hPG), hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM ) syndrome in the two groups were compared. Re-sults:In both groups, FPG, 2hPG and HbAlc were decreased after the treatment, and the decrease in the treatment group was more notable than that in the control group with statistically significant difference (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). As for TCM syndrome, the score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group with statistically significant difference (P<0. 01). The clinical efficien-cy in the treatment group was 47. 5%, that was 22. 5% in the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0. 05). Conclusion:Compound hypoglycemic Yuyeoral liquor can reduce the blood glucose in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients( deficiency of Qi and Yin) , and the improvement of clinical symptom is striking with good safety and clinical application value.

Objective To investigate the role of the clock gene promoter methylation in aging. Methods C57BL mice of 4- (young, n=9) and 20- (old, n=10) month-old were determined the promoter methylation level of clock genes (Per1/2, Bmal1/2, Cry1/2, Clock, Npas2) in the stomach, spleen, vascular, kidney and striatum with methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MSP). Results The incidence of promoter methylation of Cry1, Bmal2 and Npas2 in spleen increased in old mice (P<0.05), while the promoter methylation of Per1 in stomach decreased (P<0.05), and the promoter methylation of Bmal1 in vascular increased (P<0.05). Conclusion Promoter methylation of some clock genes is involved in process of aging in a tissue-specific way.
