Clinical data of one patient diagnosed as IgG4-related retroperitoneal fibrosis was analyzed.IgG4 and retroperitoneal fibrosis were used as the key words to search literatures from PubMed and Wanfang Database.Clinical data of 27 cases with IgG4 retroperitoneal fibrosis,including clinical manifestation,diagnostic basis,therapeutic method and prognosis,which were retrieved through literatures,were analyzed.A 82-year-old male patient presented with urinary tract obstruction and renal insufficiency.Imaging examination revealed a retroperitoneal irregular lump shadow,and showed chronic inflammation of soft tissues in posterior peritoneum with fibrosis by biopsy pathology.The IgG4-positive plasmocyte infiltration was found by immunohistochemical method.The serum level of IgG4 was significantly increased,which was in accord with IgG4-related retroperitoneal fibrosis.After treatment with methylprednisolone,retroperitoneal lump shadow was obviously dissipated.The serum level of IgG4 became normal.27 cases with IgG4-related retroperitoneal fibrosis were searched through literature retrieval,with 19 confirmed cases,3 suspected cases,and 5 suspicious cases.Male accounted for 92.6％ (25/27),and the average age was 67.6 years old.The cases with the involvement of extraperitoneal organs accounted for 37.0％ (10/27).The misdiagnosis rate was 55.6％ (15/27).23 cases took effective therapy with glucocorticoids.IgG4-related retroperitoneal fibrosis is an orphan disease,which can be misdiagnosed easily.The diagnosis is made with histopathological examination and determination on the serum level of IgG4.The therapy with glucocorticoids is effective.

Objective To understand the trend and epidemiologic characteristics of malaria prevalence so as to provide the evidence for further control of the disease in Liaoning Province. Methods The data of registered cases of malaria in Liaoning Province from 2008 to 2013 were collected and analyzed with the descriptive epidemiological methods. Results A total of 202 ma-laria cases were reported from 2008 to 2013. There was no epidemic outbreak ,and the average annual incidence was 0.08/100 000. Totally 17 P. v. cases of local infection were reported,and 185 imported malaria cases were reported(P.v. 33 cases,P.f. 113 cases,P.v.&P.f. 13 cases,P.o. 3 cases,and unspecified 23 cases). The ratio of male to female was 5.91:1,the populations aged 31-45 years were the most(47.52%),and the main occupation was exported labors(46.04%). The 179 imported cases were infected in Africa and Southeast Asia,6 imported cases were infected in Anhui Province,Yunnan Province and Hongkong,and 16 local cases were infected in the border area of Dandong City. Conclusions Although the annual incidence of malaria in Liaon-ing Province is lower than 1/10 000,the incidence shows an increasing trend because the exported labors are increased. There-fore,the epidemic monitoring and health education should be strengthened,especially for the exported labors who have returned.

Objective:To screen radiosensitive lipid metabolites in rat small intestine and analyze their metabolic pathways, in order to provide scientific basis for radiation enteropathy biomarkers.Methods:The total body irradiation of 60Co γ rays was performed to rats with different doses of 0, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8 Gy. The changes of lipids in small intestine were studied by targeted lipidomics method based on liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Results:Fifteen lipids in small intestine were screened as radiosensitive metabolites at 3 d after irradiation, including 4 up-regulated lipids and 11 down-regulated lipids( t=-6.395, 5.998, 5.836, -5.503, -5.449, -5.422, 4.841, 4.802, 4.621, 4.457, 4.426, 4.373, 4.110, 3.945, 3.902, P< 0.05 and FDR < 0.05). The metabolic pathways of sphingolipid, glycerophosphoplipid were significantly enriched. Four phosphatidyl serines (PS)increased while 1 phosphatidic acid(PA), 2 sphingomyelins(SM) and 4 fatty acids(FA)decreased in a good dose-response manner( R2> 0.80, P< 0.05), which were more potential radiation enteropathy biomarkers. Conclusions:Lipid metabolites in rat small intestine were significantly changed after the rat was total body irradiated with 60Co γ-rays.Eleven lipids with good dose-response relationship were more potential to be radiation enteropathy biomarkers.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value ofbiomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid in differentiating meningeal carcinomatosis (MC) and tubercular meningitis (TBM).Methods The clinical features and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) test results of 34 patients with MC and 44 patients with TBM,admitted to our hospital from January 1994 to August 2014,were retrospectively analyzed and compared.Results The main clinical manifestations of MC included headache and bowel and bladder dysfunction,and those of TBM were fever and headache.The cell population of MC and TBM patients increased and the number of leucocyte of TBM patients was significantly larger than that of MC patients (P＜0.05);the CSF of all the patients presented with decreased levels of glucose and chloride,and increased protein level,and higher protein in MC patients was noted than that in TBM patients (P＜0.05).The biomarkers in CSF of MC and TBM patients increased to varying degrees,and the biomarkers,including carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA),cancer antigen (CA) 125,CA 199,CA 153 and CYFRA21-1,in MC group were significantly higher than those in TBM group (P＜0.05).The neuron-specific enolase level in the TBM patients of Ⅲ grade was significantly higher than that in the MC patients (P＜ 0.05).Conclusion The detections of tumor biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid is a tool in differentiating MC and all stages of TBM,especially with the combined detections of CEA,CA125,CA199 and CYFRA21-1.

OBJECTIVETo investigate relationship between glucose metabolic disorders and expression of insulin receptor (IR) and tyrosine protein kinase (TPK) in posthepatitic cirrhosis hepatocyte and HBV DNA expression in pancreatic cells.

METHODSTo detect HBV DNA in paraffin-embedded pancreatic and hepatic tissues from 12 posthepatitic cirrhosis patients with positive serum HBV markers by using in situ hybridization (ISH) with a digoxigenin labelled probe. The amount of IR and TPK have been evaluated by immunohistochemical quantitative analysis using image analyzer in hepatocyte of 12 patients positive for HBV markers with posthepatitic cirrhosis in serum. Immunofluorescent histochemical double staining technique was used. HBsAg and IR were observed under confocal laser scanning microscope.

RESULTSEleven of 12 cirrhosis patients? hepatocytes were HBV DNA positive, including 7 patients (7/7) with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and 4 patients (4/5) with normal glucose tolerance (NGT). Eight of 12 pancreatic cells were HBV DNA positive, including 7 patients (7/7) with IGT, but only one patient (1/5) with NGT-HBV DNA was found positive in pancreatic cells in significantly more subjects in IGT group than in NGT group (P less than 0.01).IR and TPK amount in hepatocyte of IGT was significantly less than that of NGT patients with posthepatitic cirrhosis (P less than 0.01). IR amount was closely related to the TPK in cirrhosis hepatocyte r=0.82597(P less than 0.01). HBV DNA was mainly localized in the nuclei of hepatocyte and pancreatic acinar and islet cells. Immunofluorescent histochemical double-staining showed that HBsAg was partly localized in the IR positive areas of hepatocytes and pancreatic islet cells.

CONCLUSIONHBV can invade acinar cells of pancreas and islet cells, which might be a direct cause of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus-like the disorder and insulin absence after HBV infection. Decrease of IR and TPK might be main cause of noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus-like disorder after having hepatitis or posthepatitic cirrhosis.

This study aimed to investigate the reconstruction of the thumb and finger extension function in patients with middle and lower trunk root avulsion injuries of the brachial plexus.From April 2010 to January 2015,we enrolled in this study 4 patients diagnosed with middle and lower trunk root avulsion injuries of the brachial plexus via imaging tests,electrophysiological examinations,and clinical confirmation.Muscular branches of the radial nerve,which innervate the supinator in the forearm,were transposed to the posterior interosseous nerve to reconstruct the thumb and finger extension function.Electrophysiological findings and muscle strength of the extensor pollicis longus and extensor digitorum communis,as well as the distance between the thumb tip and index finger tip,were monitored.All patients were followed up for 24 to 30 months,with an average of 27.5 months.Motor unit potentials (MUP) of the extensor digitorum communis appeared at an average of 3.8 months,while MUP of the extensor pollicis longus appeared at an average of 7 months.Compound muscle action potential (CMAP) appeared at an average of 9 months in the extensor digitorum communis,and 12 months in the extensor pollicis longus.Furthermore,the muscle strength of the extensor pollicis longus and extensor digitorum communis both reached grade Ⅲ at 21 months.Lastly,the average distance between the thumb tip and index finger tip was 8.8 cm at 21 months.In conclusion,for patients with middle and lower trunk injuries of the brachial plexus,transposition of the muscular branches of the radial nerve innervating the supinator to the posterior interosseous nerve for the reconstruction of thumb and finger extension function is practicable and feasible.

Objective To observe the brain activation of interictal epiletiform discharges(IEDs) and to localize the epileptogenic foci of epilepsy.Methods The electroencephalogram(EEG)and functional MRI data of 12 focal epileptic patients were acquired using a combination of EEG and functional MRI simultaneously.The IEDs onset time detected with EEG were set as the time parameters in an event- related paradigm of functional MRI analysis.The spatial and temporal characters of IEDs activation were analyzed in detail.In order to confirm the consistency of this method,all patients were scanned repeatedly and the results were correlated with clinical evaluation.Results Of the 12 patients,valid data from EEG- fMRI were obtained from 10 patients in a total of 18 sessions..Compared with the structural foci,the epileptic foci localization results of eleven sessions were good,five sessions were fairly good,and two sessions were poor.The results obtained from six patients in two separate sessions were concordant.respectively.Moreover,thalamic activation was detected in ten sessions,cerebellar activation was detected in all sessions,and the deactivation was found in the default mode loci in nine sessions. Conclusion The method of performing EEG and fMRI simultaneously can potentially be a useful tool in epilepsy research.

The ubiquitin system is crucial for the development and fitness of higher plants. De-etiolation, during which green plants initiate photomorphogenesis and establish autotrophy, is a dramatic and complicated process that is tightly regulated by a massive number of ubiquitylation/de-ubiquitylation events. Here we present site-specific quantitative proteomic data for theubiquitylomes of de-etiolating seedling leaves of Zea mays L. (exposed to light for 1, 6, or 12 h) achieved through immunoprecipitation-based high-resolution mass spectrometry (MS). Through the integrated analysis of multiple ubiquitylomes, we identified and quantified 1926 unique ubiquity-lation sites corresponding to 1053 proteins. We analyzed these sites and found five potential ubiqui-tylation motifs, KA, AXK, KXG, AK, and TK. Time-course studies revealed that the ubiquitylation levels of 214 sites corresponding to 173 proteins were highly correlated across two replicate MS exper-iments, and significant alterations in the ubiquitylation levels of 78 sites (fold change >1.5) were detected after de-etiolation for 12 h. The majority of the ubiquitylated sites we identified corre-sponded to substrates involved in protein and DNA metabolism, such as ribosomes and histones. Meanwhile, multiple ubiquitylation sites were detected in proteins whose functions reflect the major physiological changes that occur during plant de-etiolation, such as hormone synthesis/signaling pro-teins, key C4 photosynthetic enzymes, and light signaling proteins. This study on the ubiquitylome of the maize seedling leaf is the first attempt ever to study the ubiquitylome of a C4 plant and provides the proteomic basis for elucidating the role of ubiquitylation during plant de-etiolation.

OBJECTIVESElevated tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) expression contributes to excess extracellular matrix in liver fibrosis. This study was designed to construct two recombinant adeno-associated viruses (AAV) carrying antisense RNA and small interfering RNA (siRNA) of TIMP-1 (rAAV/ANTI-TIMP-1/neo and rAAV/siRNA-TIMP-1/neo), and then to compare the suppression of TIMP-1 gene expression on rat hepatic stellate cell (HSC)-T6 cells infected by these two types of viruses in vitro.

METHODSAntisense RNA amplified by rat HSC-T6 and U6 promoter followed by the annealing siRNA were cloned into the AAV vector (pdl6-95/neo) and packed in 293 cells to construct the recombinants rAAV/ANTI-TIMP-1/neo and rAAV/siRNA-TIMP-1/neo. Rat HSC-T6 cells were infected with these recombinant AAVs and selected by using G418, and real-time PCR after reverse transcription and Western blot were performed to detect the transcription and expression level of TIMP-1 gene in these cells.

RESULTSThe results of PCR, restrictive enzyme digestion and gene sequencing confirmed that the pdl6-95/ANTI-TIMP-1/neo and pdl6-95/siRNA-TIMP-1/neo had been reconstructed successfully. After they had been packed in 293 cells to form rAAV/ANTI-TIMP-1/neo and rAAV/siRNA-TIMP-1/neo, they were used to infect HSC-T6. Thirty days after the infection, the transcription level of TIMP-1 in HSC-T6 cells infected by rAAV/siRNA-TIMP-1/neo decreased dramatically compared with the mock control and normal HSC-T6 cells (P less than 0.01), and the expression level of TIMP-1 gene in HSC-T6 cells decreased significantly (60%), while the transcription and expression level of TIMP-1 in HSC-T6 cells infected by rAAV/ANTI-TIMP-1/neo had no significant difference with mock control and normal HSC-T6 cells (P more than 0.05).

CONCLUSIONRNA interference can exert a suppression of TIMP-1 gene in rat HSC, and when this function combines with AAV infection, it can suppress the specific gene expression for a long time by chromosomal integration.

OBJECTIVESTo study the migration of melamine into foods from plastic food packaging materials and dairy product containers commonly used in China.

METHODS37 samples were collected from the market. The EU migration testing conditions were adopted with distilled water, 3% acetic acid, n-hexane and 15% ethanol being chosen as the simulating solutions. The HPLC method was used to detect melamine.

RESULTSNo melamine was detected in 15 dairy product containers. Among the 22 plastic samples, 16 of polypropylene, and polycarbonate types had no detectable amount melamine while a low level of melamine was found in 3 of the 6 melamine resin containers.

CONCLUSIONMigration of melamine from food packaging materials in China market is in line with the requirements of EU.
