Objective To investigate whether the sort of drugs causing drug eruptions complicated with drug-induced liver dysfunction are the same as those causing drug eruptions. Methods Sixty-one cases of drug eruption complicated with drug-induced liver dysfunction in 261 cases confirmed as drug eruptions from January 1998 to March 2003 were analyzed retrospectively. Results The major hepatotoxic drugs in these cases were antivirus drugs (60%, 9/15), antituberculosis drugs (66.67%, 8/12), zyloric (55.56%, 5/9), and some traditional Chinese medicines (31.58%, 6/19). Conclusion The sort of drugs causing drug eruptions complicated with drug-induced liver dysfunction are the same as those causing drug eruptions, which should be taken into consideration in clinical medication.

Objective To investigate the role of IL-2,IFN-? and IL-10 in pemphigus acantholysis. Methods Acantholysis was observed histopathologically in the skin organ culture model of pemphigus after interacting with different concentrations of IL-2, IFN-? and IL-10 for 24 h?48 h and 72 h. Results The acantholysis was promoted by IL-2 and IFN-?, and the severity of acantholysis was related to the concentrations of IL-2 and IFN-?. The effect of IFN-? was weaker than that of IL-2. IL-10 could inhibit the acantholytic effect of IFN-? significantly, and inhibit the acantholytic effect of IL-2 when its concentration was higher than 100 pg/mL. Conclusions Th1 cytokines can promote acantholysis induced by antibody of pemphigus (Pab) while Th2 cytokines can inhibit the acantholysis induced by Pab, and the effect of Th1 cytokines. Th2 lymphocytes may play an important role in the pathogenesis of pemphigus.

Objective:This study aimed to explore the structural and functional characteristics of the fecal-associated microbiome(FAM)between the phlegm-dampness constitution(PDC)and balanced consti-tution(BC),and to screen the related specific operational taxonomic unit(OTU)biomarkers.Methods:This was a cross-sectional study.After strictly identifying the constitution of subjects,their clinical index was recorded and counted.Fecal samples were collected for 16S rDNA sequencing.Alpha diversity,beta diversity,and the relative abundance of dominant bacterial taxa were used to describe the FAM structure,and the Wilcoxon rank-sum test,MetagenomeSeq,and linear discriminant analysis effect size(LEfSe)were used to screen specific bacterial taxa.Specific OTUs were screened to construct receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.Results:Thirty-two subjects were enrolled,including 22 subjects with BC and 10 subjects with PDC.There were significant differences in cold preference,levels of aspartate transaminase,β2-microglobulin,and creatine kinase MB,and alpha diversity indices(Shannon and Shannoneven)between the two groups.In principal coordinate analysis by abund-jaccard distance measure and partial least squares discriminant analysis,bacterial communities clustered separately between the two groups.Furthermore,based on MetagenomeSeq,LEfSe,and the Wilcoxon rank-sum test,a total of 43,18,and 130 OTUs were differentially distributed between BC group and PDC group,respectively,and OTU200,OTU133,and OTU353 were screened when P＜.01.The area under the ROC curve constructed from the 3 selected OTUs was 0.93.Conclusion:The FAM structure and related functional characteristics of the PDC group differed from those of the BC group.In particular,OTU200,OTU133,and OTU353 can be used as unique markers of PDC to assist clinical diagnosis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the diagnosis and treatment of incidental prostate cancer (IPC) following transurethral plasma kinetic vaporization prostatectomy (TUPVP).

METHODSPathological examinations were conducted on 134 benign prostate hyperplasia specimens by means of series microtomy after TUPVP.

RESULTSFifteen cases of IPC were detected from the total number of TUPVP specimens, with a pick-up rate of 11.2%. Dual testicle resection with endocrine therapy was performed in 4 cases of Stage A2 patients, and endocrine therapy alone was conducted in 9 cases of Stage A1 patients. Thirteen patients were followed up for 7 to 15 months and all lived without cancer (PSA 0.15 - 4.0 microg/L).

CONCLUSIONTUPVP and series microtomy may be helpful to the diagnosis of IPC. Patients at Stage A1 need mere endocrine therapy, while those at Stage A2 warrant dual testicle resection.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) among adults in rural areas of Ningxia Hui autonomous region.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 10 639 adults enrolled with a multistage method from Jingyuan County.The MS was identified according to Chinese type 2 diabetes prevention guide (2013).Results Among all the subjects, 17.4% of them met the MS definition with the standardized prevalence of 14.7% after adjustment of sex and age.The prevalence and standardized rate of MS in men were 19.9% and 17.3%, and in women were 15.3% and 13.5%.The prevalence of MS in men was higher than that in women(P<0.001) and increased with aging in both genders.The prevalence and standardized rate of abdominal obesity,hyperglycemia,hypertension,high triglycerides,and low HDL-C were 19.5% and 16.7%, 15.0% and 12.9%, 42.0% and 37.1%, 25.8% and 23.1%, 28.5% and 27.7%,respectively.The rate of abdominal obesity was higher in women than in men (20.5% vs 18.2%, P=0.004), whereas the rate of hypertension, high triglycerides, and low HDL-C were higher in men than in women (all P<0.01).The prevalence of having one parameter of the MS was 68.4%.Conclusion The prevalence of MS is higher in rural areas of Ningxia Hui autonomous region, suggesting that a series of comprehensive prevention measures should be carried out to prevent and control the MS so as to improve the public health conditions in rural areas.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of thyroid nodules and thyroid dysfunction in southern mountainouss areas of Ningxia.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among a representative sample of 10 639 adults in Jingyuan county with a population proportionate sampling method.High-resolution ultrasound was used to examine the thyroid and fasting blood specimens were collected in the morning for measurement of TSH,FT4,FT3.Chi-square test and spearman rank correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis.Results The prevalence of thyroid nodules was 29.08％,the sex-and age-adjusted rate was 27.17％.The prevalence of thyroid nodules was higher in women than in men (32.68％ vs.24.88％,x2=76.029 2,P＜0.001) and age was positively associated with thyroid nodules (r=0.272,P＜0.001).The rate of thyroid dysfunetion,subclinical hypothyroidism,subclinical hyperthyroidism,hypothyroidism,hyperthyroidism were 17.39％,13.00％,0.42％,0.96％,3.01％,respectively.The prevalence of thyroid nodules was higher in abnormal TSH group than in normal TSH group (39.44％ vs.27.24％,x2=95.624 0,P＜0.001).The level of THS,FT3,FT4 in thyroid nodules group differed fromn control group (Z=-9.144,P＜0.001;Z=-6.140,P＜0.001;Z=-1.997,P=0.046).Conclusion The prevalence of thyroid nodules and thyroid dysfunction were higher in southern mountainous areas of Ningxia.The relationship between thyroid nodules and thyroid function needs further research.We should pay attention to the early screening and diagnosis of thyroid nodules in mountainous areas.

OBJECTIVETo investigate effect of Activ L total lumbar disc replacement on lumbar sagittal alignment.

METHODSThe imaging data of patients with degenerative disc disease received Activ L total lumbar disc replacement at Department of Orthopedics, Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital, Capital Medical University from March 2009 to March 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. The average age was 45.6 years(range, 35-60 years)and the surgery levels were as follows: L3-4 2 cases, L4-5 15 cases, L5/S1 5 cases, L3-4+ L4-5 3 cases, L4-5+ L5/S1 7 cases. All patients were followed up for 15 to 63 months(average, 32 months). Radiographic parameters such as lumbar lordosis angle(LL), segment lordosis angle(SL) and sacral slope angle(SS) were recorded. All the radiographic parameters were compared using one-way ANOVA at different stage. Lumbar lordosis angle of the two-level was compared with the one of one-level by using independent sample t-test before and after the operation. A partial correction test was carried out to determine the corrections between the parameters preoperatively, one month after the operation and at final follow-up.

RESULTSOne month after the operation, the lumbar lordosis angle decreased by an average of 1.8°, but there was no statistically significant(P>0.05). Compared with one month postoperation, the lumbar lordosis angle increased by an average of 6.8°(P<0.05), which also increased a lot compared with preoperation(P<0.05). The value of segment lordosis angle was rising up from preoperation to the final follow-up(P<0.05), so was the value of sacral slope angle, but there was no statistically significant between different stage(P>0.05). The lumbar lordosis angle showed no significant difference between double-level ones and single-level ones at different stage(P<0.05). The lumbar lordosis angle showed positive correlation with the sacral slope(P<0.001), however, the lumbar lordosis angle showed no corrected with the segment angle all the time(P>0.05).

CONCLUSIONSThe total lumbar disc replacement with Activ L prosthesis had contributed to maintain and improve the lumbar alignment in the short and medium term. Double- or single-level total lumbar disc replacement had no significant effect on the value of lumbar lordosis angle. The lumbar lordosis angle showed positive correlation with the sacral slope all the time with no correlation between lumbar lordosis angle and sacral slope.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and the risk factors in Jingyuan county of Ningxia Autonomous Region.Methods The population proportionate sampling method was applied to enroll a representative sample of 10 639 adults in Jingyuan county and the study was conducted using questionnaires and physical examinations.A total of 10 553 people were included in the analysis after excluding those with missing data.High-resolution ultrasound was used to examine the liver and fasting blood was collected in the morning for measurement of blood glucose,blood lipid,and uric acid.The participants were divided into two groups of those with and without nonalcoholic fatty liver disease;the difference in blood biochemical indexes between fatty liver and non-fatty liver groups was compared,and the logistic regression model was used to explore the risk factors affecting the prevalence of fatty liver.Results The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease was 7.60％.The prevalence of thyroid nodules was higher in men than in women (8.60％ vs.6.82％,x2=1 1.772,P=0.001).The prevalence rate of fatty liver increased with age (x2=57.336,P＜0.001),the prevalence rates among ≥18 years-＜29 years,≥30 years-＜39 years,≥40years-＜49 years,≥50 years-＜59 years,≥60 years-＜69 years,and above 70 years were 2.92％,6.50％,8.81％,9.59％,8.08％,and 4.77％ respectively.The detection rate of overweight,obesity,abdominal obesity,impaired fasting glucose,impaired glucose tolerance,diabetes,hypertension,hyperuricemia,and dyslipidemia were higher in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease group than in the normal group (P＜0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that nonalcoholic fatty liver disease group had a higher risk for overweight,obesity,abdominal obesity,impaired fasting glucose,impaired glucose tolerance,diabetes,hypertension,hyperurcemia,and dyslipidemia (OR=5.41,12.45,2.99,1.85,2.05,3.30,1.41,2.23,and 1.98).Conclusion The incidence of nonalcoholic fatty liver in Jingyuan county of Ningxia Autonomous Region was higher.The groups of overweight,obesity,abdominal obesity,impaired fasting glucose,impaired glucose tolerance,diabetes,hypertension,hyperuricemia,and dyslipidemia were high risk factors for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Rheumatoid arthritis （RA） is a systemic autoimmune disease with local joint pain as the main clinical manifestation. It is one of the diseases specifically responding to traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）. The occurrence of RA is not only related to innate factors like genetic disorder but also associated with environmental factors， such as diets and microbial infection. The intestine， a vital human organ with digestive and immune functions， is a place where microorganisms colonize and exert intestinal metabolism-improving， barrier-protecting， and immunomodulatory effects. As the research on the onset and treatment of RA is deepening， the potential relationship of intestinal structural and functional abnormalities with the pathogenesis and progression of RA has been revealed. As clinical and experimental studies indicated， joint inflammation coexists with the impaired barrier function， imbalanced immune cells， and disordered gut microbiota. The theory of the gut-joint axis in the pathogenesis， progression， and treatment of RA is highly consistent with the holistic view in TCM. The recent pharmacological studies have shown that Chinese medicine prescriptions and active components can inhibit inflammation， protect joints， and maintain the intestinal function. This article summarizes the basic connotation of the gut-joint axis in RA and the mechanism by which TCM protect the intestinal barrier and modulate the immunity by regulating the gut microbiota structure and improving microbial metabolism in the treatment of RA. This review gives insights into the future research on the gut-joint axis in RA.

Objective: To investigate relationship between the clinicopathological features and prognosis of T1 esophageal carcinoma. Methods: Data from 212 T1 primary esophageal cancer patients, who underwent radical surgery in The Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University from Jan 2001 to Dec 2009 were enrolled. There were 148 males and 64 females. There were 91 patients with stage pT1a and 121 patients with stage pT1b. Results: The survival of the 212 patients was 27~108 months, and the median survival was 80.8 months. The 1, 3, and 5 year survival rates of patients with stage T1a were 100%, 97.8% and 94.5%, respectively, and the median survival was 86.8 months. The 1, 3, and 5 year survival rates of patients with stage T1b were 100%, 95.9% and 74.4%, respectively, and the median survival was 76.2 months. The rate of lymph node metastasis in 121 patients with stage T1b was 26.4% (32/121). The lymph node metastasis rates in patients with stage sm1, sm2 and sm3 were 11.6% (3/26), 15.0% (6/40) and 41.8% (23/55), respectively. There was no significant difference in lymph node metastasis between stage sm1 patients and stage sm2 patients (P=0.973). Lymph node metastasis rates in patients with stage sm3 were higher than those in stage sm1 and sm2 (P<0.05). Conclusion Radical resection of esophageal carcinoma with peripheral lymph node dissection is recommended for patients with T1b esophageal carcinoma.
