Objective:To establish the determination method for total flavonoids in Cyperus rotundus and investigate the total fla-vonoids content in Cyperus rotundus from different habitats. Methods:Total flavonoids in Cyperus rotundus from different habitats were detected by ultraviolet spectrophotometry with rutin as the standard substance. Results:The absorbance of rutin had a good linear cor-relation with the concentration within the range of 0.064 3-0.642 6 mg·ml-1(r =0.999 1). The average recovery was 99.74%(RSD=2. 16%,n=6). The order of total flavonoids content in Cyperus rotundus from different habitats was Henan province >Sichuan province> Guangdong province >Anhui province > Halnan province >Shandong province. Conclusion:The method is easy and ac-curate, which can be applied in the quality control of Cyperus rotundus. The total flavonoids content in Cyperus rotundus from Henan province is the highest.

Objective To evaluate the effects of diltiazem on angiographic and clinical outcomes in patients with postprocedural chest pain after coronary stenting. Methods Two hundred and fifty-one patients with postprocedural chest pain were divided into two groups: diltiazem group (n = 189) and control group (n = 62). The outcomes of the two groups were compared according to the following two points. The first point was the major adverse cardiac events, including mortality, nonfatal infarction and target lesion revascularization. The second point was restenosis during the follow-up period. Results By the median of 128 days, the severe composite clinical events reached 4.8% in the diltiazem group and at 12.9% in the control group (P = 0.039). Repeated angiography was performed in 42.6% of these patients within one-year showing 11.5% restenosis in the diltiazem group and 29.2% in the control group (P = 0.05). Conclusions In patients with postprocedural chest pain after coronary stenting, oral diltiazem contributes a favorable outcome. (J Intervent Radiol, 2006, 15: 261-263)

[Objectivs] To investigate the principle of AgNO3-processed silica gel chromatography in isolation and purification of mixtures with carbon-carbon double bonds (CCDB) from herbal medicine. [Methods] AgN03-processed gel chromatography was used for the isolation of mixtures with carbon-carbon double bonds in the volatile oils and active components from Pteris semipinnata L. ; silver-ion complexion chromatography was applied to isolate arachidom'c acid from lipids. The principle of AgNO3-processed silica gel chromatography was analyzed by coordination theory. [Results] Stable AgNO3 coordinate complexes were obtained. [ Conclusion ] The principle of the formation of stable AgNO3 coordinate complexes may be: (1) the stability will increase with CCDB in free space; (2) exocyclic CCDB is more stable than that of intra-cyclic CCDB; (3) cis-form CCDB is more stable than that of trans-form CCDB; (4) terminal CCDB is more stable than that of cis-form CCDB; (5) aromatic hydrocarbon with multiple benzene rings is more stable than that with single ber zene ring. The possible principle will benefit to the isolation and purification of the mixtures with CCDB, which have similar structure and physiochemical property and are difficult to be isolated and purified by common chromatography and extriction method.

Objective To establish the methods of isolating and culturing human ovarian endometriosis-derived microvascular endothelial cells (OEMEC).Methods The tissues of human endometriotic cyst of ovary were finely minced with scissors,then digested by collagenase Ⅰ,Ⅱ and trypsinethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA).The cells were purified by using centrifugation of 2000 r/min speed.OEMEC were identified by light microscope and transmission electron microscope observing CD34,FⅧ-Rag and Weibel-Palade in microvascular endothelial cells.Results The OEMEC grew as confluent monolayer like cobblestones under light microscope.CD34 and FⅧ-Rag were expressed strongly,and the percentages of CD34 and FⅧ-Rag positive cells were 91.4％ and 92.5％.Weibel-Palade bodies could be observed under transmission electron microscope.The time of cell doubling proliferation was 4.5 days.Conclusion The established system of isolating OEMEC would provide lab base for studying the mechanisms of angiogenesis in endometriosis lesions.

Purpose:To study the significance of resecting the lymph nodes adjacent to the recurrent laryngeal nerve in the operation on cNo thyroid papillary carcinoma,and its value inselecting the fashion of operation .Methods:Reviewing the clinical-pathological material of 186 cases of cNo thyroid papillarycary cinoma,and analyzing the relationship between lymph nodes adjacent to the recurrent laryngeal nerve and lateral cervical nodes metastasis. Results:Of 186 cases of cNo thyroid papillary cacinoma,there were 42.5% (79/186) with metastatic lymph nodes adjacent to the recurrent laryngeal nerve,63.2% of which had lateral cervical nodes or distant metastasis,while only 8 cases had metastasis in the negative group. Conclusions:The thyroid papillary carcinoma with metastatic nodes adjacent to the recurrent laryngeal nerve means there is a higher chance of metastasis in regions of the neck. Resecting the lymph nodes adjacent to the recurrent laryngeal nerve and frozed pathological examination can be a basis to determine whether redical neck dissection should be performed.

Objective To assess the safety and effectiveness of laparoscopically total extraperitoneal (TEP) repair using two mesh cross and overlap without stapler technique and to discuss the cause of main complications. Methods In this study 243 cases of inguinal hernia were randomly divided into two groups. One group underwent two meshes cross and overlap no fixation TEP, the other underwent a single mesh stapling fixation TEP. The average postoperative follow-up was ( 28 ± 6 ) months. For comparing the effect of the two approaches, statistical analysis including the χ2 test and Student's t test was carried out where appropriate. A p value of less than 0. 05 was considered statistically significant. Results The recurrence rate for the mesh no fixation group ( 1.9% ) did not increase when compared to mesh fixation group( 2. 9% ) ( P ＞ 0. 05 ). The overall postoperative complication rate or individual complication rate was not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusions Laparoscopically total extraperitonealrepair(TEP) using two mesh cross and overlap no fixation technique is safe and reliable.

BACKGROUND:Articular cartilage is a highly diferentiated tissue, which is very limited in its ability to repair after injury. Stem cel therapy for cartilage repair has completely solved this problem. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanism that diferent growth factors induce the diferentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels into chondrocytes. METHODS:Passage 5 rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were induced by diferent growth factors and their combinations, including transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) group, TGF-β1+insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) group, and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2)+IGF-1 group, TGF-β1+BMP-2 group, TGF-β1+IGF-1+ BMP-2 group, and blank control group. At 21 days of induction, cels were stained with alcian blue and alizarin red; RT-PCR was employed to detect colagen I mRNA expression. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Alcian blue staining showed metachromasia in the cytoplasm and mesenchyma, and proteoglycan was expressed green; alizarin red staining showed no orange calcium nodules. The bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were preliminarily deduced to diferentiate into chondrocytes, but could not express the cel phenotypes of bone cels. In the blank control group, the expression of colagen I mRNA was negative. Compared with the TGF-β1 group, the mRNA expression of colagen I was lower in the BMP-2+IGF-1 group, but higher in the TGF-β1+BMP-2 group and TGF-β1+IGF-1+BMP-2 group (P < 0.05). Moreover, the expression of colagen I mRNA was highest in the TGF-β1+IGF-1+BMP-2 group (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that TGF-β1 alone is able to induce the chondrogenic diferentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels, and the combination of TGF-β1, IGF-1 and BMP-2 can play the biggest role to induce the chondrogenic diferentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels.
