1.Thinking of improving management of hospital medical periodicals
Chinese Journal of Medical Science Research Management 2009;22(4):247-249
The management of hospital medical periodicals is now facing many realistic problems such as management system of editorial department, ability of editorial team, quality of articles and outside living environment. Co-publishing periodicals with pharmaceutical enterprises, with foreign publications and innovating publishing model of periodicals have been adopted by some domestic hospitals. By studying cases of periodical management innovation, and summing up the latest domestic point of view on medical periodical management, this paper held the view that the hospital medical periodicals management should be grouped into the framework of hospital scientific research management. Basically, the hospital should focus on solving the problem of management system in priority;developing in a way of specialization, collectivization and brand-orientation;establishing of a high-level editorial team;strengthening international communication and publishing periodicals according to international rules.
2.Immunogenicity evaluation of a recombinant adenovirus containing the PIB and NspA genes of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in mice
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2013;(5):328-331
Objective To evaluate the immunogenicity of a recombinant adenovirus containing the porin IB (PIB) gene and Neisseria surface protein A (NspA) gene of N.gonorrhoeae in BALB/c mice. Methods A recombinant adenovirus containing the PIB gene and NspA gene of N.gonorrhoeae (pAdEasy-1-PN) was constructed in previous studies.Thirty BALB/c mice were randomly and equally divided into 5 groups:low-,medium-and high-dose experiment group intramuscularly immunized with 104,106,and 108 50% tissue culture infective dose (TCID50) of the recombinant adenovirus pAdEasy-1-PN,respectively,pAdEasy-1 control group immunized with 106 TCID50 of pAdEasy-1,blank control group immunized with sodium chloride physiological solution.Immunization was carried out twice at a 4-week interval.Serum samples were collected at 0,3 and 5 weeks after the first immunization, and spleens were removed at 5 weeks followed by the isolation of spleen lymphocytes.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to determine the serum levels of PIB-specific and NspA-specific antibodies, methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay to evaluate the proliferaton activity of spleen lymphocytes after stimulation by the recombinant PIB and NspA antigens.A slide agglutination test was used to estimate the anti-bacterial activity of murine serum. The complement-dependent bacteriolytic activity of murine serum was also evaluated.Statistical analysis was carried out by t test. Results Both humoral and cellular immune response specific to PIB and NspA were elicited by the recombinant adenovirus in mice.At 3 and 5 weeks after the immunization, significant differences were observed in the serum levels of PIB-specific (F =285.72,564.83,respectively,both P < 0.01) and NspA-specific (F =521.57,542.61,respectively,both P < 0.01)antibodies.Also,the proliferation index was statistically different among these groups in spleen lymphocytes stimulated with PIB and NspA (F =171.61,233.96,respectively,both P < 0.01).The vaccination efficiency was positively correlated with the inoculation dose of recombinant pAdEasy-1-PN,and 108 TCID50 per dose proved to be the optimal dose for immunization. The sera from mice immunized with pAdEasy-1-PN could agglutinate N.gonorrhoeae and kill it in the presence of complement. Conclusions The recombinant adenovirus pAdEasy-1-PN containing PIB and NspA genes could induce specific humoral and cellular immune response in mice, and may be a potential vaccine against N.gonorrhoeae.
3.Analysis on problems in patent management in hospitals and countermeasures
Chinese Journal of Medical Science Research Management 2010;23(3):174-176,200
Patent competition has become one of the key issues of global competitions in economy, science and technology. In hospitals, the patent management strategy provides guidance for and impels knowledge innovation. However, hospital management is quite weak in China, which may have been caused by various reasons, such as the over enthusiasm for published paper and the technological achievement contrasted with negligence in patent application and exploitation. In the paper, countermeasures are proposed, which include the whole process management during the scientific research, setting up detail targets and standard procedures for patent management, training patent management staff, et al.
4.Pro-prostate-specific antigen and its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(7):655-658
Pro-prostate-specific antigen (proPSA) is the precursor of PSA and a form of free PSA (fPSA). In recent years, a lot of studies have been done on proPSA, the roles of its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, and the value of its clinical application. The correlated indexes of proPSA include proPSA, % pPSA, p2PSA, % p2PSA and prostate health index (PHI). They are more effective than total PSA (tPSA) and fPSA in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, especially % p2PSA and PHI, which may significantly increase our ability to detect and identify PCa and lower the rate of unnecessary biopsies. This article presents an overview on the advances in the studies of proPSA and the application of its related indexes in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(16):1477-1479
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) expression in laryngeal carcinoma and its clinical significance.
METHOD:
Fifty-one patients with laryngeal carcinoma were collected, and all patients were confirmed by pathological diagnosis results. The expression of MyD88 protein was detected by immunohistochemical method in laryngeal cancer and its adjacent tissues to investigate the correlation among MyD88 expression, clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients.
RESULT:
The positive expression rate of MyD88 in laryngeal cancer tissues was 68.6%, significantly higher than that in normal tissues adjacent to carcinoma of which positive expression rate was 11.8%; MyD88 positive rate had nothing to do with laryngeal cancer patients age, sex, differentiation and tumour location (all P > 0.05), but correlated with clinical stage (P < 0.01) and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). In addition, the study also found that the expression of MyD88 quantity was inversely proportional with the five-year survival rate. The survival rate of patients with higher expression of MyD88 was significantly lower than that of patients with lower expression (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
MyD88 may be an important participant in the pathogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma, MyD88 targeted therapy may improve the prognosis of patients with laryngeal cancer.

BACKGROUND: Rhodiola rosco L acts on anti-aging,anti-fatigue and improving immunity in human body and improves angina pectoris.OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of rhodiola root on heart hemodynamics and myocardial contractility and probe into its mechanism.DESIGN: Observational and controlled based on the experimental animals.SETTING: Department of physiology in a medical university.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Laboratory of Cardiac Vessels of Department of Physiology of Guangxi Medical University, from January to April 2001.Thirty New Zealand white rabbits of either sex, weighted varied from 1.9 to 2.3 kg,were randomized into two groups, named as the control(physiological saline 4 mL/kg) and rhodiola sacra SH Fu (nuodikang) group(0.5 g/4 mL · kg-1),15 rabbits in each group. A hundred common wild frogs were employed, weighted varied from 120 to 160 g,randomized into 4 groups, named as the control group of physiological saline, nuodikang of small dosage group(blood concentration 209 mg/L),nuodikang of moderate dosage group(blood concentration 418 mg/L) and nuodikang of large dosage group(blood concentration 627 mg/L),25 frogs in each group.METHODS: ms2000 multiple medium biological signal analysis system was applied,by Straub method, frog heart perfusion specimen in vitro was prepared and the cardiac activity was assayed. The relevant indexes of ventricle activity in rabbits were determined with hemodynamics.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of hemodynamics changes in rabbits of two groups and the comparison of effects of nuodikang at various dosages on frog heart work in vitro.RESULTS: Myocardial contractility in every nuodikang group was strengthened remarkably compared with the control(F = 8.939, P<0.01 ), the myocardial contractility in nuodikang groups at the dosages of 209 mg/L,418 mg/L and 627 mg/L was in the tendency of increasing, strengthened by 52. 3%,70. 1% and 86.4% respectively. But the significant difference was not apparent in the comparison among experimental groups(P>0.05). The significant difference in frog heart rates among groups was not apparent(P>0.05). Concerning to hemodynamics in rabbits,in nuodikang groups, the maximum increasing rate of pressure in the left ventricle was increased by 22.1% (F = 6.259,P<0.05),the mean pressure of artery was decreased by 8.2% (F = 5.688, P<0.05) . The significant difference in other indexes was not apparent in the comparison between the control and nuodikang groups.CONCLUSION: Nuodikang strengthens myocardial contractility and speeds up myocardial contraction, but does not present remarkable influence on myocardial dilation; simultaneously it reduces the mean pressure of artery.
