Objective To study the removal effect of Moringa seedprotein on turbidity water. Methods The protein of Moringaoleifera seed was extracted by salting out and salting out methodand the protein concentration of Moringa oleifera seed wasdetermined by Coomassie blue staining; The removal effect of Moringa seed protein on turbidity water was determined by coagulation test. The contents of COD, ammonia nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen in the water were determined to determine the effect of Moringa seed protein on water quality. Results The experimental results showed that Moringa oleifera seed protein has good removal effect on high and medium turbidity water, and its removal effect is in a dose - dependent manner. The removal rate of 7 mg/L of Moringa seed protein to high and medium turbidity water reached 92.25 % and 64.71 % respectively. But the removal efficiency of low turbidity water was less than 7 mg/L, the removal rate of low turbidity water was only 31.91%.The results of determination of COD, ammonia nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen showed that the Moringa seed protein did not increase the content of organic matter in the water while removing turbidity effectively. Conclusion Moringa oleifera seed protein has a certain removal effect on turbidity water, among which the removal effect of high and medium turbidity water is strong, and the removal effect of low turbidity water is poor.Moringa oleifera seed protein had little effect on water quality.

Objective To investigate the effects of cinnamaldehyde and citral on DNA and RNA of Aspergillus flavus and A. fumigatus cells and their mechanisms. Methods A. flavus and A. fumigatus were incubated on Czapeks agar plate (treated with cinnamaldehyde and citral at different concentrations) at 26.5 ℃ for 3—6 d. The normal and treated cells were observed by laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) and image analysis to describe the DNA and RNA levels by quantity and localization. Results DNA and RNA levels were changed greatly and multinucleate coniospores appeared in the treated cells. Conclusion Cinnamaldehyde and citral have directly or indirectly interfered the conventional synthesis of fungal hereditary DNA and RNA and normal differentiation of conidiophore in A. flavus and A. fumigatus, thus inhibiting the normal cell cycle and the growth and propagation of fungi.

BACKGROUND: Mechanical ventilation is a double-edged sword to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) including lung injury, and systemic inflammatory response high tidal volumes are thought to increase mortality. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of dynamic ventilatory factors on ventilator induced lung injury in a dog model of ARDS induced by hydrochloric acid instillation under volume controlled ventilation and to investigate the relationship between the dynamic factors and ventilator-induced lung injuries (VILI) and to explore its potential mechanisms. METHODS: Thirty-six healthy dogs were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group. Subjects in the experimental group were then further divided into four groups by different inspiratory stages of flow. Two mL of alveolar fluid was aspirated for detection of IL-8 and TNF-α. Lung tissue specimens were also extracted for total RNA, IL-8 by western blot and observed under an electronic microscope. RESULTS: IL-8 protein expression was significantly higher in group B than in groups A and D. Although the IL-8 protein expression was decreased in group C compared with group B, the difference was not statistically significant. The TNF-α ray degree of group B was significantly higher than that in the other groups (P<0.01), especially in group C (P>0.05). The alveolar volume of subjects in group B was significantly smaller, and cavity infiltration and cell autolysis were marked with a significant thicker alveolar septa, disorder of interval structures, and blurring of collagenous and elastic fiber structures. A large number of necrotic debris tissue was observed in group B. CONCLUSION: Mechanical ventilation with a large tidal volume, a high inspiratory flow and a high ventilation frequency can cause significant damage to lung tissue structure. It can significantly increase the expression of TNF-α and IL-8 as well as their mRNA expression. Furthermore, the results of our study showed that small tidal ventilation significantly reduces the release of pro-inflammatory media. This finding suggests that greater deterioration in lung injury during ARDS is associated with high inspiratory flow and high ventilation rate.

Objective To investigate the clinical features, the radiological characteristics, and the pathological changes of cerebral sparganosis. Methods We retrospectively collectted and summarized the clinical data of 42 patients with cerebral sparganosis from the Iinstitute of Anti-parasitic Diseases of Jiangxi Province and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University during January 2000 to January 2014.The follow-up period of the 42 patients ranged from 4 to 96 months. Results Forty-two cases (30 males and 12 females) with cerebral sparganosis were enrolled in the study.Among the 42 patients,34 cases suffered from seizures,16 cases experienced headaches, and 14 cases had limb weakness. The brain CT scan showed the small and punctuate calcifications scattering around the lesions in 18 cases. The features of enhanced MRI included aggregating ring-like enhancement in 38 cases, tunnel lesions in 14 cases, and lesion migration in 13 cases.Twenty-four of the 42 patients were performed surgery. The brain tissues revealed multiple inflammatory tunnels,in which live or degenerated larvae were identified in 20 cases, but only eosinophilia tunnels were observed in the other 4 cases. The serum and cerebro-spiral fluid specimens from 18 patients without surgery were positive to spirometra mansoni antigen.Their cerebral lesions disappeared and got a favorable prognosis after administration of praziquantel in long term follow-ups.Conclusions There is a high incidence of cerebral sparganosis in Poyang lake basin. The clinical features of cerebral sparganosis mainly include seizure, headache and hemiparesis. The enhanced lesions show knot or tunnel signs on multi-planar MRI which are associated with the multiple inflammatory tunnels of larvae migration.A longterm administration of high dose opraziquantel can also get a good treatment prognosis without the classical surgical therapy for cerebral sparganosis.
