Objective To evaluate the application effects of mind map in community health education of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Methods 65 rheumatoid arthritis patients from Shunqing district of Nanchong City, Sichuan Province were randomly divided into an observation group (n=33) and a control group(n=32). Both groups received six-month health education. Health educators utilized mind map for the observation group and traditional health education for the control group. Before and after implementation, the two groups' mastery of disease knowledge was compared. During the period of 1, 3, 6 months, two groups received compliance evaluation respectively. During the study period, a questionnaire was given to the observation group to collect their attitude towards the mind map health education and their evaluation about it. Measurement data was represented by x ± s, using group t-test design information and single-sample t-test. χ2test was used in the count data for compar-ison between groups with test levelα=0.05. Results The scores of disease knowledge were as follows. Before implementation there was no statistically significant difference between two groups (P=0.921);After implementation, the score of observation group was(19.97±3.03), while the score of control group was(17.59±3.11), the difference was statistically significant(t=3.122,P=0.003). The difference of 1,3,6-month compliance scores was statistically significant(t=2.173,P=0.034;t=2.371,P=0.021;t=2.615,P=0.011) with the observation group's scores(18.24±3.44),(18.94±3.25),(19.64±3.06) respectively, and the control group's scores(16.47±3.13),(16.97±3.45),(17.44±3.70). Observation group's attitude questionnaire scores of each project are > 3, and there was significant difference be-tween two groups (P=0.000). Conclusion Mind mapping method can be used in community health education for rheumatoid arthritis patients to help patients master the knowledge of the disease and improve the compliance. Its effect is better than traditional methods.

Objective: To explore the role of angiotensin receptor type I (AT1)-calcineurin (CaN) signaling pathway in transient outward potassium ion channel (Ito) remolding in hypertrophic atrial myocytes of neonatal rats. Methods: 1 day old neonatal rats’ atrial myocytes were isolated and the cells were divided into 4 groups:①Control group, normal cells were cultured for 24 h,②Stretching group, the cells were cultured for 24 h with mechanical stretching to induce hypertrophy,③Telmisartan group, the cells were treated by telmisartan at 1 μmol/L for 1 h, then cultured for 24 h and ④Cyclosporin-A (CsA) group, the cells were treated by CsA at 0.25 μg/ml for 1 h, then cultured for 24 h. The ratios of protein/DNA in myocytes were compared between Control group and Stretching group, cell hypertrophy was deifned by mRNA expression of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). Ito changes were detected by whole-cell patch clamping technique, proteins expressions of Kv4.3 and CaN A subunit were examined by Western blot analysis. Results: Compared with Control group, Stretching group showed obviously decreased Ito density and Kv4.3 protein expression, while increased CaN A protein expression; Compared with Stretching group, the above effects were reduced in Telmisartan group and CsA group. Conclusion: AT1-CaN signaling pathway was involved in the regulation of Ito channel remodeling in hypertrophic atrial myocytes of neonatal rats.

Objective To investigate the effect of simvastatin on endothelial cell function in a rat model of sepsis. Methods Ninety-six pathogen-free female Wistar rats aged 4 months weighing 200-250 g were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 32 each): group sham operation (group Ⅰ ); group sepsis (group Ⅱ )and group simvastatin + sepsis(group Ⅲ ) . Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). In group Ⅲ simvastatin 20 mg/kg was given via a gastric tube once a day for 2 weeks. Blood samples were taken from carotid artery at 3,6, 24 and 48 h ( n = 8 at each time point) for WBC count and measurement of serum E-selectin concentration (by ELISA) . Results CLP significantly increased WBC count and serum E-selectin concentration in group Ⅱ as compared with group Ⅰ . The peak values were reached at 6 h after operation. Simvastatin pretreatment attenuated the sepsis-induced increase in WBC count and serum E-selectin concentration in group Ⅲ. Conclusion Protection of endothelial cell function is involved in the mechanism of treatment of sepsis with simvastatin.

BACKGROUND: Intravenous transplantation has been regarded as a most safe method in stem cell therapies. There is evidence showing the homing of bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) into the injured sites, and thus these cells can be used in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (MI). This study aimed to investigate the effect of intravenous and epicardial transplantion of BMSCs on myocardial infarction size in a rabbit model. METHODS: A total of 60 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: control group, epicardium group (group I) and ear vein group (group II). The BMSCs were collected from the tibial plateau in group I and group II, cultured and labeled. In the three groups, rabbits underwent thoracotomy and ligation of the middle left anterior descending artery. The elevation of ST segment>0.2 mV lasting for 30 minutes on the lead II and III of electrocardiogram suggested successful introduction of myocardial infarction. Two weeks after myocardial infarction, rabbits in group I were treated with autogenous BMSCs at the infarct region and those in group II received intravenous transplantation of BMSCs. In the control group, rabbits were treated with PBS following thoracotomy. Four weeks after myocardial infarction, the heart was collected from all rabbits and the infarct size was calculated. The heart was cut into sections followed by HE staining and calculation of infarct size with an image system. RESULTS: In groups I and II, the infarct size was significantly reduced after transplantation with BMSCs when compared with the control group (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the infarct size between groups I and II (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Transplantation of BMSCs has therapeutic effect on MI. Moreover, epicardial and intravenous transplantation of BMSCs has comparable therapeutic efficacy on myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVETo observe the imaging findings of congenital megaureter in order to enhance the understanding of this disease.
METHODSImage data of 5 patients with congenital megaureter and 2 misdiagnosed patients were analyzed, and image findings of congenital megaureter were summarized.Elscint Prestig 2.0T superconductive magnetic resonance urography (MRU) with conventional sequence (spin-echo, T1WI560 ms/16 ms; fast spin-echo, T2WI 9600 ms/96 ms ) was performed. Raw data were acquired with fastspin-echo sequence from heavy T2-weighted image (9600 ms/120 ms). Post-processing method of MRU was the maximum intensity projection with three-dimensional reconstruction in the workstation. Intravenous pyelography (IVP) was conducted, in which X-rayfilms were taken 7 minutes, 15 minutes, and 30 minutes after injecting contrast agent, exceptthat in 2 patients the films were taken delayed at 60 and 90 minutes .X-ray retrograde pyelography was performed on 2 patients, successful in one butfailed in the other.
RESULTSThe dilated ureter showed hypointensity on T1-weighted images and hyperintensity on T2-weighted images in conventional MRI. The mass wall was intact, uniform in thickness, and showing hypointensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted images. The MRU images showed a retroperitoneal mass appearing as an elongated tubular cystic structure spreading from kidney to bladder. MRU also revealed dilated calices and renal pelvis, pelviureteric obstruction, and renal duplication. The main signs of congenital megaureter in X-urography was significant dilatation of ureter, or normal renal pelvis with ureter dilatation, hydronephrosis, deformity, and displacement.
CONCLUSIONSMRU with X-urography could visualizethe characteristics of congenital megaureter, including the dilation of renal pelvis and ureter, calculi, urinary tract duplication, and stenosis location. The two techniques can complement each other in disease diagnosis and provide more detailed information for preoperative treatment.
