Objective To study the chemical constituents in the stem of Acanthus ilicifolius.Methods Some compounds were repeatedly isolated and purified on silica gel column chromatography and vacuum liquid chromatography,their chemical structures were elucidated by their physicochemical properties and spectral data,such as IR,(()~1HNMR),(()~(13)C-NMR),and ESI-MS.Results Eight compounds were obtained from the stem of A.ilicifolius and identified as hexacosanoic acid(Ⅰ),stigmasterol(Ⅱ),tetratriacontanol(Ⅲ), 2-benzoxazolinone(Ⅳ),stigmasterol-3-O-?-D-glucopyranoiside(Ⅴ),vanillic acid(Ⅵ),4-hydroxy-2-benzoxazolone(Ⅶ),quercetin(Ⅷ).Conclusion Compound Ⅶ is first reported as a natural product.Compounds Ⅰ,Ⅲ,and Ⅵ-Ⅶ are reported from this plant for the first time.

It has been a problem in clinical practice that recurrence and distant metastasis of patients with colorectal cancer undergoing surgery.Recently,pericolonic tumor deposits has attracted extensive attention of scholars,and they think pericolonic tumor deposits may be closely related with colorectal cancer postoperative recurrence and metastasis.This review aims to introduce concept of pericolonic tumor deposits,pathological characteristics and its important role in clinical staging and prognosis,so as to provide clinical doctors medical advice to set more reasonable treatment and achieve the purpose of reducing tumor recurrence or metastasis for patients with colorectal cancer.

Aim To study the effects of preconditioning with desflurane, sevoflurane and isoflurane on adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in anoxia-reoxygenation myocardial cells. Methods Rat ventricular myocytes, cultured for 4～5 days, were randomly allocated to five groups: Control group, anoxia-reoxygenation group and groups preconditioned with 1.5 MAC desflurane, sevoflurane or isoflurane following anoxia-reoxygenation. The content of intracellular ATP ,the activities of lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) and creatine kinase(CK), and the cell viability were measured at the end of experiment.Results Preconditioning with 1.5 MAC desfllurane, sevoflurane or isoflurane significantly attenuated the great reduction in ATP and cell viability and the increase of LDH and CK caused by anoxia-reoxygenation. Objective To analyze the curative effects of total knee arthroplasty(TKA)for severe genu varus combined with flexion deformity.Methods The clinical data of 25 patients(36 knees),who had undergone TKA for severe genu varus combined with flexion deformity from January 2005 to October 2010,were retrospectively analyzed.There were 7 males and 18 females,aged from 55 to 80 years(average 70.5 years).The primary diseases were osteoarthritis in 22 cases and rheumatoid arthritis in 3 cases.HSS knee score was used before and after the operation to assess the efficacy of the TKA.Results All of the patients were followed up for 4 to 9 years(average 6 years).The degree of flexion deformity was reduced from (21 ±63)°to(1.1 ±2.3)°;the degree of the varus decreased from(210 ±4.8)°to(175.6 ±2.1)°;range of motion of the knee joint increased from(70.5 ±20.5)°to(115.1 ±5.3)°;knee score augmen-ted from(33.2 ±10.5)to(90.7 ±8.5);function score added from(35.5 ±14.2)to(85.6 ±10.5);there were 21 cases(8 knees)rated as excellent,2(3 knees)as good and 2(3 knees)as fair,and the excel-lent and good rate was 86%.Most of the patients had normal force line of the knee joint,but 2 patients re-mained varus deformity of 5°~10°.Conclusion Satisfying outcome can be achieved by TKA in treating severe genu varus combined with flexion deformity of the knee.

Six new sesquiterpenoid compounds of nerve-activity were synthesized from a gorgonian neurotoxin -subergorgic acid (1). Toxicological studies and structural correlation with toxicity reveal that subergorgic acid may act on cholinesterase and make a reversible inhibition of its activity of hydrolysis.

Objective To analyze and investigate endoscopic and pathological characteristics in the diagnosis of early esophageal carcinoma. Methods The clinical data of 62 patients with early esophageal carcinoma who had been admitted to Southwest Hospital from January 2003 to December 2007 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Of all patients, 8 had upper esophageal carcinoma, 42 had middle esophageal carcinoma and 12 had lower esophageal carcinoma. The tumor growth patterns included surface diffusion growth (n = 30), bidirectional growth (n = 11), intracavitary growth (n = 9), intra-esophageal wall growth (n = 7) and mixed growth (n = 5). The diameter of lesions ranged from 1.0 cm to 2.9 cm in majority. Surgical resection was done in 38 patients, endoscopic mucosal resection in 23 patients and endoscopic submucosal dissection in 1 patient. Postoperative pathological examination showed that 13 patients had in situ carcinoma, 22 had intramucosal carcinoma and 27 had submucosal carcinoma. The lymph node metastatic rate of intramucosal carcinoma and submucosal carcinoma were 5% (1/22) and 15% (4/27), respectively. The numbers of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, small cell carcinoma, sarcoma carcinoma and spindle carcinoma were 57, 2, 1, 1, 1, respectively. ConelusionsEarly esophageal carcinoma tends to appear in the middle part of esophagus, and with surface diffusion growth type. Most of the early esophageal carcinoma are squamous cell carcinoma. Endoscopy combined with lugol's iodine and methyleneblue staining is effective in detecting early esophageal carcinoma.

Objective To explore the association between rs3179060C/A polymorphism in the ex-on 1 of TNF-a gene and hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods One hundred thirty PCOS women and one hundred seventy five normal women as controls were enrolled in this study. The genotypes were screened by polymerase chain reaction-On/off switch and the product was isolated by e-lectrophoresis on a 2. 5% agarose gel containing ethidium bromide and visualized using an ultraviolet transil-luminator. The relationship of TNF-a alleles to serum testosterone level was analyzed in PCOS patients. Results Three genotypes were identified, corresponding to CC, CA, AA, and two alleles were screened, corresponding to C and A. The frequencies of the CC, CA, AA genotypes were 58. 4% ,23.1% ,18.5% vs. 72. 0% , 17.7% , 10. 3% in PCOS group and control group, showing statistically significant difference between two groups( P < 0.05 ). The allelic frequency was 70.0% for the C allele and 30.0% for the A in P-COS group, and 80. 9% for the C allele and 19. 1% for the A in control group, respectively, showing statistically significant between two groups ( P <0.05). The relationship was not observed between rs3179060C/ A polymorphism and serum testosterone level in PCOS patients in Han Chinese racial origin ( P >0.05). Conclusions The TNF-a gene rs3179060C/A polymorphism may be a risk factor for the pathogenesis of P-COS in Chinese women, but it was not effect on hyperandrogenism in PCOS women.
