Objective To investigate the curative effects of selected proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) patterns and techniques on shoulder subluxation soon after strokd. Methods Forty-one stroke patients with shoulder subluxation were randomly divided into a treatment group(n=22) and a control group (n=19). The patients in the treatment group receiveed the selected PNF techniques daily for 4 weeks, while the patients in the control group were treated with their previous therapeutic protocol. The shortest distance from the lower border of the acromion to the nearest point of the humeral head(AHH) was measured. Brunnstron grading was used to evaluate motor function in the affected upper linb, and a visual analogue scale (VAS) to assess subLuxation. Shoulder pain before and after treatment was also assessd. Results There was no significant difference in general condition between the patients in the two groups before treatment. In the treatment group, a significant improvement in AHH distance of the affected shoulder was observed after 4 weeks. Shoulder subluxation waw cured in 13 patients, with AHH distance <0.75 cm after 4 weeks of treatment. Conclusion The PNF technique applied was effective for the early treatment of subluxation after stroke. Motor function in the affected upper limb could be improved significantly and pain alleviated.

Objective; To evaluate the efficacy of Twin-block appliance in Class Ⅱ division 1 of adolescents. Methods: Several e-lectronic databases (PubMed, The Cochrane library, Embase, CBMdisk, CNKI, VIP)were searched. Abstract that appears to fulfill the initial selection criteria were selected by consensus and original articles were retrieved. Five Chinese journals were hand searched for possible missing articles. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) that evaluate the efficacy of Twin-block appliance in Class Ⅱ division I adolescents without any surgical intervention or syndromic characteristics were considered. A comparable untreated control group was required to factor out normal growth changes. The quality of included studies was evaluated according to Cochrane Reviewers Handbook 4.2.6 Meta-analysis was performed by using RevMan 5.0.0 software. Results: Four RCTs including 289 patients were identified. The results of our meta-analysis showed a significant increase on SNB angle, Ar-Gn, Nasolabial angle and Labial-mental fold compared with control group(P<0.05). Whereas overjet, overbite, ANB angle and Ls-E had a significant decrease. In addition, SNA angle and Li-E didnt show statistical significant changes(P>0. 05). Conclusion; In Class II division 1 of adolescents, Twin-block appliance can effectively decrease their overjet, overbite, ANB angle, and induce anterior-posterior growth of mandible. The effect on restrain forward growth of the maxilla was unclear. More RCTs are required to evaluate the efficacy of Twin-block appliance.

In order to find the characteristics of two members of gene family of squaleneexpoxidase (SE) , a quantitative real time PCR method was developed to analyze the expression of Eleutherococcus senticosus SE1 and SE2 gene from different growth periods and in different organs. The result indicated that all the expression of SE2 more than SE1 in the whole growth period and organs of E. senticosus. And in the whole growth period, expression of SE1 showed a low-high-low characteristic. Both expression of SE2 and growth period showed the same trend. The lowest content of the expression was in the roots. SE1 expression have been improved more than SE2 when treated with MeJA. The expression of E. senticosus SE1 and saponins content had significantly positive correlation (P < 0.05) and the correlation coefficients was 0. 858, while the correlation was not significant for SE2. That indicated that SE1 played a key enzyme gene in the biosynthesis of triterpenoidsaponins

China Pharmacy 2016;27(30):4181-4183
OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for promoting the further implementation of national essential medicine system and related policies. METHODS:Hospital information system(HIS),Excel 2007 and SPSS 13.0 software were adopted to statisti-cally compare the changes in equipping the specific varieties of national essential medicines and the differences in the overall use of national essential medicines before and after implementing the National Essential Medicine System (2012 edition)(referred to NEMS,2012 edition) and cancelling drug addition policy in a public hospital in Chengdu. RESULTS:After implementing the NEMS(2012 edition),60 kinds of equipping national essential medicines increased in the hospital, including 38 kinds of chemical medicines and biological products,22 kinds of Chinese patent medicines;compared with before, the percentage of essential medi-cines to prescription drugs, prescription rate of essential medicines, average essential medicine in a single prescription and prescrip-tion rate of all essential medicines were significantly improved(P<0.05). After cancelling drug addition policy,5 kinds of equip-ping national essential medicines increased in the hospital, including 3 kinds of chemical medicines and biological products,2 kinds of Chinese patent medicines;the above-mentioned 4 indexes showed no obvious changes, with no statistical significances (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:After implementing the NEMS(2012 edition)and cancelling drug addition policy, the equipping na-tional essential medicines are still insufficient, some indexes do not meet the requirements of Sichuan Province. It is suggested that the public medical and health institution at county-level should to choose suitable national essential medicines based on its specific situation;strengthen publicity and education, improve the popularity of physicians to national essential medicine system;strengthen the assessment and management of the use of essential medicines for physicians. Meanwhile, the government and the relevant de-partments are suggested to explore more effective and reasonable compensation mechanism to improve the enthusiasm of physicians to use the national essential medicines.

World Journal of Emergency Medicine 2013;4(4):304-310
BACKGROUND: Intravenous transplantation has been regarded as a most safe method in stem cell therapies. There is evidence showing the homing of bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) into the injured sites, and thus these cells can be used in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (MI). This study aimed to investigate the effect of intravenous and epicardial transplantion of BMSCs on myocardial infarction size in a rabbit model. METHODS: A total of 60 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: control group, epicardium group (group I) and ear vein group (group II). The BMSCs were collected from the tibial plateau in group I and group II, cultured and labeled. In the three groups, rabbits underwent thoracotomy and ligation of the middle left anterior descending artery. The elevation of ST segment>0.2 mV lasting for 30 minutes on the lead II and III of electrocardiogram suggested successful introduction of myocardial infarction. Two weeks after myocardial infarction, rabbits in group I were treated with autogenous BMSCs at the infarct region and those in group II received intravenous transplantation of BMSCs. In the control group, rabbits were treated with PBS following thoracotomy. Four weeks after myocardial infarction, the heart was collected from all rabbits and the infarct size was calculated. The heart was cut into sections followed by HE staining and calculation of infarct size with an image system. RESULTS: In groups I and II, the infarct size was significantly reduced after transplantation with BMSCs when compared with the control group (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the infarct size between groups I and II (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Transplantation of BMSCs has therapeutic effect on MI. Moreover, epicardial and intravenous transplantation of BMSCs has comparable therapeutic efficacy on myocardial infarction.
